2 MEN ARRESTED FOR CHEATING VICTIMS INTO BUYING FAKE AIRPODS ON CAROUSELL

0

The Police have arrested two men aged 17 and 19 for their suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases involving the sale of counterfeit AirPods.

Between 9 and 12 October 2022, Police received two reports lodged by victims who suspected that they were cheated by an online seller into purchasing counterfeit AirPods on the e-commerce platform Carousell. The counterfeit AirPods were represented as authentic and deceptively packaged in sealed boxes with legitimate serial numbers, which misled the victims into believing that the AirPods were authentic. The ruse was purportedly uncovered when the victims tried to sync the AirPods with their Apple devices and were alerted that the AirPods were not authentic. Suspecting that they had fallen victim to a scam, the victims then reported the matter to the Police.

Through investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them on 13 October 2022. Sixty-one boxes of counterfeit AirPods and two mobile phones were seized as case exhibits.

The two men are assisting with Police investigations for the offences of cheating and abetment of cheating. The offence of cheating is punishable under Section 420 of the Penal Code 1871, and carries an imprisonment term of up to ten years and a fine. The maximum punishment for abetting an offence is the same as that of committing an offence itself, as provided for under Section 109 of the Penal Code 1871.

The Police take a serious view against any person involved in scams, and perpetrators will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.

If you have information related to such crimes or if you are in doubt, please call the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000, or submit it online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness. For more information on scams, members of the public can visit www.scamalert.sg or call the Anti-Scam Hotline at 1800-722-6688.

MAN THINKS IT’S WRONG TO CONTACT YOUR EX WHEN YOUR ALREADY ATTACHED

0

I saw some posts lately about people wanting to get in touch with an ex to just “catch up with life” when they are already in a committed relationship.

We all have some remnants of fondness or regrets about past relationships. But unless it’s something huge that you want to apologise for like you cheated their entire life savings, caused their whole life to collapse and you really die die cannot sleep and living with some form of remorse every day, please spare a thought for your current partner and DO NOT REACH OUT to your ex.

Yes, it may provide some form of relief for you to contact them and say a few words but please consider your partner’s feelings…

Is your need for “closure” worth more than potentially jeopardising the relationship and hurting your partner’s feelings?

I was in a similar situation before except that I was the partner. I found out that my other half wrote a message to his ex thanking her for the good times & apologising for some hurt caused during the relationship. My partner can argue the content and those few words were generally harmless and meant nothing, more of trying to seek some closure for himself but it hurt me a lot and I started doubting our relationship.

Well, I agree, nothing alarming in the message content but I didn’t understand why that message had to be sent. What was soooo pressing or important that he had to message her? What I could only interpret with my clouded brain then was that ‘he is thinking of her and cannot let go of the relationship’. And till today I still struggle with trust and commitment.

I know the intention is not to cause any hurt to your other half.

But I just want to say it’s not worth it to contact your ex for some sort of emotional relief at the expense of your partner’s feelings. Please think twice before pressing that send or call button.

WOMAN HAD IT ENOUGH WITH HER PARTNER AS SHE IS TREATED LIKE A MAID

0

It’s not normal to be in a relationship where the woman is expected to do all the cleaning and cooking in a relationship.

There may be times where it is imbalanced (like say, your partner is in school or something similar that is taking pretty much all of their time) where you might be doing more work than 50/50. However, it should be temporary and workloads should change when circumstances change.

Ladies, it’s not normal for you to get up early to prepare lunch for your partner every single day.

It’s not normal to have to tell your partner your kid’s schedule and precook meals before going out. Your partner is not a babysitter. They should know their own kid’s schedule and know how to cook meals. And no, this doesn’t mean cereal for every single meal.

It’s not normal to cook the kids breakfast, take care of the dog, go to work, pick up kids, cook dinner, and do bedtime routine by yourself if you have a partner.

It’s not normal for you to never have time for yourself and never go out.

It’s not normal for your partner to expect you to take care of your newborn by yourself because “they go to work and need the sleep” and “changing diapers is gross.”

It’s not normal to be scolded for buying some ice cream or a little treat for yourself just because you’re not the one making money.

The amount of posts I see from these women about their lame man-baby husbands is ridiculous.

You don’t need to settle for these idiots. There are plenty of men and women who will treat you like an actual partner and not a chauffeur, chef and maid.

MAN CHARGED S$200 FOR WITHDRAWING MONEY FROM OVERSEAS ATM DURING HOLIDAY

0

Hi,
Just want to share issue for everyones benefit.

Last week I was holidaying at Vietnam.

On 12 Oct, I withdraw VND 3,000,000.00 from ATM by local Viet bank and I was charged SGD 191.19 ( this excludes additional fees of SGD 7 by DBS bank as overseas cash withdrawal) and same amount was debited from my SG bank account .

As credit card is not widely accepted in Hanoi (for hotels, you need to pay extra 3% if wish to pay by card) I withdraw another VND 3,000,000.00 on 13 Oct from ATM by HSBC bank and I was informed during transaction that SGD 193.76 will be charged (attached receipt).

But later, I noticed that actually SGD 201.10 (excluding additional fees of SGD 7 by DBS) was debited from my SG bank account.

I called my SG bank on 14 Oct upon arrival at SG and they told me they can not help me because deduction amount initiated by HSBC bank. I have also wrote to HSBC to explain why additional amount (about SGD debited from my SG account.

In the mean time, based on this experience, I feel it is better to withdraw cash from local bank ATMs instead of international banks ATM

A Singaporean female medical undergrad recently posted her negative experience on Facebook after going on a date with a guy who flaunted his daddy’s bungalow and Lamborghini.

The guy even stated how her family was poor because they were hawkers.

Here is the full story:

Last week a guy i was on a date(set up by my friend) he mocked my family .

He first when on a rant or long explanation or story to put it

He told me he was form Jc(a top one at that)

Then he went on about how he wants to save $1M by age 30 he’s like 27M and working in a bank . I on the other had am just 22F

He then explained how his father is so and so and has a PhD and how he lives in one of those huge ass bungolws I think he used the term GBB or GCB

So then I asked him oh what’s that ,he then replied its just a big bungalow ,you don’t know ah? Its quite a high ses thing, not many know

He even treated the waiter badly asking him to ‘come here’ ,no pls no tq or anything.

He then asked what my parents do ,I said oh they are hawkers…

His face changed he asked so you are doing this degree(medicine) to get out of poverty huh .?

I said no I am not i genuinely want to help people out , why do you think that? I said softy holding in my disgust

He said well you’re from poly and your family probably doesn’t earn much…and must be not so educated so that’s why you want to become a doctor?

Softy, again I said,no I don’t think you can stereotype that way

You must be a minority of med students who want to help..thats good he said .

Yeah, I said

Halfway he asked if he can send me home ,I told him no need (I wanted the date to end asap)

He said well I have a lamborghini you know

But I bet you haven’t been in one cause your poor he said loudly.

This pissed me off,

I told him ,why you no money buy your own car is it its clearly your dad’s car!

Do you think a small ass car will impress me?

Why must I go with you ?

Why did you assume i am poor? You think so so big ah?

He then replied

You poor girl, you’re just a gold digging bi**h

You think you are my standard?

I then replied

Don’t ever judge again you disgusting son of a boofon, idk how that slipped out but I was indeed pissed.

I slaped him and walked off ,leaving $30 to the cahsier for my order

Can’t believe that there are guys like this…

Seriously wtf sia ,why do some guys drive daddys car and say its theirs and think that their parents wealth is their’s???

Ps. My mom graduated from a top culinary school, my dad is also a uni gardaute

And please don’t look down at hawkers, having worked at my parents stall ,I’ve seen uncles who are primary 3 dropouts who earn millions and yet they are humble and give out food to needy on weekends, and they take in like $5000 a day ,selling drinks only….

So damm pissed, I don’t think I will be dating for a while .

ITE INTERNS MADE TO EAT MEALS ON THE FLOOR, WHILE BOSS MONITORS THEM VIA CCTV

0

Facebook user Gal Goh, shared a lengthy post on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group, sharing that her son is doing his internship with a company collecting old and refurbished laptops.

She added that the interns were made to eat on the floor and do housekeeping of the laptops, while the boss, who is overseas, monitors them via a CCTV.

Here is what she said

Feedback to #itecentral

I would like to bring to your attention in regards to your final year internship arrangement. My child is in the last year of Higher nitec.

At first, he was posted to a sim lim store which only sell hp cover, job scope seems to be easy but nothing could be gain.

Appeal for a transfer and he is posted to a backend store collected all old and for refurbished laptops. There are 4 interns there and only 2 are allow to go out buy lunch and is given 30min lunch time. When eat in, there is no table for meals and all seated on the floor to eat and do all the housekeeping of the old laptops. The real oversea boss will eye them via Cctv constantly and will call back to supervisor to scold them for not doing work even though all works have been completed.

Does ITE takes care of your student’s well being and simply send them out to be a slave where company make them as cheap labour.

Did ITE check the working condition of the workplace?

My son refused to let me speak up as it will affect his final year result to excel to the next level but i cannot digest.

Another 6weeks at work working for 6days 9-6pm and 30min meal time, i will have to bring him for back issue.

Is not easy for a 1.8m to sit on the floor for hours to sort out the dirty laptops.

This is inhuman treatment.

Kindly do your rountine check.

GIRL TOLD BF HE DOES NOT LOVE HER CAUSE HIS SALARY IS ONLY $3.4K & NOT BUYING A CAR

0

Feel my bf doesn’t love me at all. He never keeps his promise to me.

And I hate guys who break promise. When we got together he promised to get a car for us. 8 months and 24 days later he still hasn’t bought one.

I don’t even need a brand new car, a second-hand one is ok for now. I’m real upset that we quarrelled several times over this. I know he just graduated last year.

I have done the math for him: his salary is $3.4k/mth so he can easily afford a second hand car, jap or korean sedan. I’m not even asking for continental models. If a Malay family earning $2k/mth can afford a family MPV, how can $3.6k not afford a second hand? Some more coe prices are so low now.

It’s really not convenient w/o a car in sg. Once we were stuck in seletar for almost 30mins, no cab no grab. In the end I had to SOS my dad to save us. Super embarrassing. Plus I really hate those rental cars. Their interior is worn out and the inside almost alwez has some kind of damp mouldy smell.

Once we even found a dead roach inside. Urgh. He sez he changed his mind coz he’s trying to save up for our future. But what future do we have if he cannot even fulfil this simple sincerity now? All my past bfs and suitors had a car. And I cannot understand why his dad still doesn’t want to buy him a car till now.

A manager should be not bad right? At least $5-$6k? Why so stingy? I know public transport in sg is clean and efficient, but its quite traumatic for me. Once on mrt this weirdo uncle came in and started talking and gesturing to himself beside me.

Another time this indian baby was crying non-stop on the bus. They should ban babies from public transport.
