MAN LENDS $5K TO “BEST FRIEND” WHO WENT MISSING FROM HIM

0

I lent a friend of mine about 5K a couple of months back, now I need the money.

He is now not returning my calls and is always not there when I go to his place.

I’m a student and my finals are just around the corner and I can’t think of anything except how could a person be this ungrateful.

I went as far as selling my phone to lend him that money which he said he could “die” if he didn’t get it, he was a close friend and I can’t believe he would do this to me, I even got from a credible source that he is telling people proudly that he scammed me.

So to the point, I want no sympathy, I want no money and I don’t want people telling me it’s my fault for giving my complete trust to him, I want ideas for payback, either legal or completely criminal! I just want revenge because I can not think of anything except getting back my respect. I

f you have ever been scammed you know the feeling, imagine how I feel that I even know who scammed me, but feel so helpless and mad, please tell me what to do I feel like I want to kill.

Here are what netizens think:

  • I lent a close friend 10K three years ago and I still haven’t seen a cent. I simply learned a valuable lesson in friendship and loaning money. I moved on because he’s now dating my ex-girlfriend who will provide all of the revenge I need at no cost.
  • Go Pang sai on his bed. There is not alternative.
  • put his parents in your special chili, and feed them to him.
  • I’ve had friends come to me several times now in absolute emergency situations, and I learned a hard lesson: don’t ever loan money to someone if you’re not okay with never seeing it again.

GUY DRINKS 5 CANS OF BEER A DAY, SAYS HE IS A “HIGH FUNCTIONING ALCOHOLIC”

0

Are there any other alcoholics around?

So i have been an alcoholic for a long time, i go thru atleast 5 cans (tall ones) a day.

I dont know if that is alot or normal.

Which has taken a big toll on my mental health. I am a high functioning alcoholic, meaning I don’t get drunk, I don’t like to get drunk, I get the buzz from beers go back home and sleep. Wake up fresh the next day and carry on.

Not all my drinking experience had been bad, its actually had been rather uneventful or good.

I have shared my previous experience drinking alone on a thread some time back..

My first drink was when I was in secondary 3. My secondary school was at sembawang, the school was surrounded by open fields, as far as the eye can see and on the other side of the field was a forested area, and if you walked thru it, you’d reach sembawang beach.

The place is no longer there if you’re wondering, its all flats now.

And one day after school, I believe it was some sports day or something as school ended at 10am, my school seniors asked me to join them to drink, so I said ok, we all each “choot” 5 dollars each, went to a mama shop in sembawang, bought a bottle of Red label and a few packets of ang oon (Idk how to spell it)

Yes, you read that right, in uniform. So anyways we made our away to sembawang park, I drank 2 cups, and I was GONE!, I didn’t know how I ended up home.

I also had tried weird and disgusting liquors in secondary school, like black cat and bengkilo (idk how to spell the last one, its was Chinese rice wine, smelled like rose water, we would mix it with red bull and drink it), I think black cat is banned, as I don’t see anymore.

And after secondary school, when I became legal to drink, the best and go to drink was dewars and coke or green tea under some block with a couple of friends and their girlfriends. where at times while drinking at random times in the middle of the night there’d be “BAM, BOOM, BAM’ sounds while I’d be drinking with my friends, and when I turned around to see the source of the sound, I’d see someone on the floor covered with blood and I’d go and help the person up. Or I’d see some random group charging at us, where’d I usually say to the charging group, “ I am not involved, I am not with them”, initially I scared, but eventually I found that telling them “ I am not involved” they’d usually leave me alone and I’d go my way. And eventually I found the group of friends not good to hang out with because of the above reasons, and moved away

I recall once, it was my ex secondary mate’s birthday celebration, so they booked some bbq pit around our area ordered food and drinks, my ex school mates parents and relatives were there too. After cutting the cake and eating, we decided to play some games, like those charades kinda game. This bbq pit we were in, was those old fashioned bbq pit where’d be surrounded by coconut trees, I don’t think these exist anymore.

Anyways, while playing, me and a friend decided to go for a smoke, so we walked towards these trees to smoke as we didn’t want to smoke infront of my friends parents.

While smoking, I saw 3 heavily tattooed dudes walking towards us, and they each had an object in their hand, 2 of them had a parang, and they were swinging it at the coconut trees. I initially thought they were cutting down the branch for wedding, as in indian weddings, they would hang threaded coconut tree leaves infront of their houses. But it was not that case, all 3 approached me and my friend. While pointing the parang at us, they asked me if I was this person, I said no I am not, and they asked where I was from, I just said I am not part of any group. And I think my friend’s dad saw this commotion, and my friends’ dad decided to bring 3 plates filled with cake, satay and stingrays came right between us, and said “hi guys, want some food, please join us”

I started drinking fully while i was in NS. And then after ORD-ing, i recall me and my fellow sqd mate would who lived a few blocks away, would wake up at 8AM apply for jobs till 1pm.

Meet at a close by mama shop buy a 6 pack each, drink till 4 pm. Headed home, showered, prayed at dinner, came back down, bought another 6 pack each and drank till 10.

Guess it we were drinking cuz we were just bored.

Anws, when I landed my first job,I kinda stopped drinking, but then as I grew older, I encountered some PSTD, got diagnosed with a string of mental issues. I found it extremely hard to seek treatment for mental health, its either expensive or the psychologist/psychiatrist were a bunch of money seeking morons. And I turned to alcohol. And I tried every weird stunts to reduce my alcohol, I thought maybe more expensive stuff would help, so I’d buy some 400 dollar bottle and cigars, go to some park and drink and smoke, didn’t help as I’d end up drinking the whole bottle in 2 days. I tried wine, I tried port.

Like for an example, I went to a private psychologist (who I shall not name but I wont recommend to anyone) some time back who charged big bucks.

The first session as with all psychologists if you didn’t know, would take longer and it will be more expensive then the a normal session, the first session with this doctor took 2 hours and I paid close to 600+

In the session, the doctor asked all the question blah blah blah and discussed my symptoms.

For some context, during this time, I was mountain biking weekly, and jogging daily, but I was also drinking daily. Which I specifically told the doctor, and made the doctor aware that I have been around the block meaning, I have visited other psychologist but their theapy didn’t help

Anws, towards the end of the session, usually the doctor would give you tips on how to deal with your symptoms. i.e relaxation techniques for MDD.

But this moron of a doctor told me to get more into nature, like one week once, and I was what you mean get into nature, she said go for a walk at one of the nature parks, as greenery and nature will help you calm down. And I was like I mountain bike, I get mud and grass in my underwear every week, how nature do you want me to get, unless I go back to tekong and re do field camp. I didn’t see what more nature I can get.

And then after the session, she told the reception to book me for 2 hours for the next session when the usual is 1 hour and when I asked why, I was told “ oh you can afford it what”

As for a psychiatrist, I went to one of the top private hospitals in Singapore for a psychiatrist.

When I entered the doctor’s office, the office was filled with chakras and those spiritual painting which was already a red flag, anyways, after spending less than 5 mins telling the doctor of what I am facing, this dude told me this “ ya ya, I can see it thru you when you entered my office”

I had my fair share experience with bomohs, but the last place I’d expect to see one was at a top private hospital in Singapore. Anws the meds he gave made me really really bad, it made me sooo much more worst, felt like puking all the time, started hallucinating, maybe he was a bomoh after all, well it went on for a year.

And then I decided to give IMH a shot. I am way much better now thanks to the staff and doctors there, and didn’t make hole in my wallet.

I have tried to quit alcohol a few times, but I’d go back to square one. Today is my 2nd day in my idk how many’th attempt to quit.

In all honesty, I don’t wanan totally quit alcohol. For an example, I like to have a couple of beers after my weekly mountain biking ride. Which is around 35KM.

The muddier and dirtier I am, the more shoik was it to have some beers sitting on some random floor, after my ride, I’d buy some beers, go behind some multi story carpark and drink a few beers. No matter what time, like if I returned by 10am, I’d still drink. And usually when people see me all muddy, bike caked with mud and me drinking, they’d usually smile or laugh. I don’t think I’d have that same reception without the mud. Funny.

I like to have a few cold beers after work, not everyday, but when I fell like it. Like maybe, Fridays, sit alone, scroll reddit, watch some random videos on youtube.

I recall recently, I was drinking at some park around 11pm and behind me sat some lady using her phone, a couple of minutes later a group showed up with a bag of drinks, I initially thought it was beers.

But no, it was canned drinks and packet drinks, and they all just sat there drinking and talking.

And I wondered, how do people to that.

And then I recalled, when I was in NS or before NS(after legal age, before the 1030PM law) me and my friends would sit under the block at the middle of the night, and drink monster, yes monster energy. And if I wasn’t with my friends, I be at home, drinking monster, or a big tumblr of black coffee making trance music as I wanted to be the next Armin Van Burren on a run down 6GB ram laptop with a broken keyboard ( I had to use on screen keyboard) and some crappy creative tech speaker and a torrented copy of FL studio and ableton on a half broken table with a plastic chair, while I tried my best to stay awake and make music

And now it’s the total opposite. I have huge 3 monitor setup, with top notch Mackie studio monitors, enough money to buy FL studios full suite. And a korg midi keyboard and a set of pionner CDJ sitting in my cupboard with clothes pilled on it. A big teak wood table with secret lab XL chair. And have no interest in making or listening to music. I sometimes wanna, I’d go to FL studio’s website, with my card out, thinking to buy, but then my crappy mental health comes killing that urge.

To think of it, I don’t have interest in anything. I started watching Modern family recently and got bored after 3rd season, now even though I am still watching it, I am just using it as background noise.

And do you realize alcohol is everywhere in Singapore. When you enter 7/11, the first few things you’d notice is a stack of carton of anchor beer. Yet the perception of alcohol is Singapore is not great.

It is not like in the west, where having a couple of beers after work a day is normal. When i tell my friends that i drink a few cans of beer everyday, to them its normal, it not considered alcoholic.

And the price of beers in singapore is expensive, The definition of an alcoholic is subjective though.

The funny thing about alcohol is, i am certain someone is gonan think i am talking out of my rear when i say this. But alcohol is actually helpful for you especially if you have mental health issues, i am talking about a few beers a day, i think that is honestly fine. As alcohol calms you down. Like if you have ADHD, beers really calms you down.

But anchor strong/anchor,tiger or any cheap beers tend to give you hair loss.

I am not advocating people drinking.

I honestly wont be alive if i didnt get too tipsy to do anything.

But I just wanna have a couple of beers right now. But I wont!

Are there any other alchohlics around?

INSURANCE AGENT SENDS WRONG “SEDUCTIVE” TEXT MESSAGE TO CLIENT AND LOSES IT ALL

0

A man shared a story about how he “fired” his insurance agent after he found out that she has been badmouthing him behind his back.

She stated that she managed to “seduce” the customer and managed to close a deal.

Here is the story:

Imagine you just sign a policy with your insurance agent thinking it will help managed your wealth and you made a sound decision to buy the policy but end up getting ridiculed by your own insurance agent.

This happened last Friday, I met up with my insurance agent as I wanted to put some spare cash aside for investments and savings. I already knew what plan I wanted and I contacted my insurance agent to meet up.

So after we talked about the investment and savings policy, I decided to sign a policy with the agent.

Guess what?

15 mins after the meeting ended I received a Whatsapp message stating

“That chi ko pek so stupid, he just sign the investment policy for $X with me, I only show my legs to him once and he shaking with excitement.”

She obviously sends the message to the wrong person and I knew she was referring to me as I just signed the policy therefore I know what $X amount it is.

Instead of replying, I called up her HQ straight and requested to talk to the person in charge of her and requested an immediate meeting to feedback the agent’s behaviour.

They were able to entertain me immediately as I have about $700,000 worth of existing policies with the insurance company. They eventually investigated and took disciplinary action against the insurance agent.

I threatened for that woman to be terminated immediately and have someone else take over my account or I will pull out all my money and put it in a different company.

I don’t mind losing a bit of the money for the early withdrawal but I really cannot stand people who are trying to sell insurance with their bodies.

Of course, they panic and agreed to my request.

GUY BRAGS ABOUT BEING RICH ON 1ST DATE, KEPT SAYING HE LOOKS LIKE RYAN GOSLING

0

Had experienced the worst tinder date of my life and would like to share the story.

So i matched with this guy on tinder few weeks back and we clicked instantly, decided to meet up for dinner last week. Even before our food arrived, there were already a lot of things that were off about this guy. Halfway through dinner, i was already just counting down the time to go back home. It was hell. Below are just some of the things he did:

1. Bragged non-stop about his wealth; bragging about his car watch etc and kept talking about cars, even called me clueless for not knowing about certain car models??? Like hello do you think i could even understand half of what you were saying? You should have taken the hint when i showed that i wasnt interested but instead you kept continuing

2. Debated about politics. Complained A LOT about the party he dislikes. Isn’t that our first date? You really had to talk about politics on the first date?

3. No table manners. The restaurant we ate at was a little atas and he chose the restaurant so ofc i would expect at least some table manners from him. But the whole time he was just shaking his legs till the table would shake sometimes and he kept making loud noises with his cutlery. I was so embarressed when people kept looking over at our table -.-

4. Very hao lian, keep comparing himself to hollywood actors. Keep saying that he thinks he look like Ryan Gosling and had the cheek to ask me if i agree with him. Please la… not even close. Ryan Gosling’s eyes alone can beat your entire face..

5. VERY RUDE to waiters and waitresses. Not a single please or thank you to them. He was even impatient with one of the waiter when he brought the wrong drink over

6. I thought we were going dutch and I don’t know if he was joking or what but he said “so today you paying for me hor” which i politely declined and offered to split the bill. He hesitated for a while before agreeing

It was my first time experiencing such a lousy date and i ghosted him the next day. Moral of the story is…. ladies, if you ever feel off on the first date, just trust your own intuition! Chances are the red flags will never go away. So just RUN!!!

VIRAL POST OF EMPLOYER WHO CANCELLED INTERVIEW POSTED CLARIFICATIONS

0

Following the incident where a boss cancelled an interview after the interviewee requested for it to be virtual he shamed the interviewee online by posting a screenshot of the Whatsapp messages which included the interviewee’s name.

The employer has since posted another Facebook post for “clarifications”.

The post posted by the employer received a huge backlash from netizens and many people have been making extremely negative comments on the employer’s Google review.

Here is what the employer said:

Now that I’ve gotten everyone’s attention, it’s time for some clarifications.

I’ve been running my own little agency for the past 21 years. Over the past decades, I’ve hired Singaporeans whenever I can.

I’ve taken in interns from local institutions. Not because they’re cheap labour but more to give them a taste of what the real world is like and hopefully allow them to make an informed decision when they graduate on whether this is the right career for them. Most have been lovely people to work with.

This year, I’ve taken in 2 interns, from different institutions. Again both Singaporeans btw. Something is seriously wrong when Year 3 design students come in for internships and barely know how to use Photoshop or Illustrator. These interns go for 1.5-hour lunches, oversleep when they work from home and don’t give a damn about deadlines. It’s maddening and frustrating when you see the lack of hunger vs the can-do attitude of the foreign students I came across when I was teaching part-time.

Back to Sarah. She actually emailed me sometime late June about her official internship starting 12 Sep. Think I replied 1 or 2 weeks later but received no reply. So thought she’s either not keen or may have found another company. Move on.

Suddenly received an email from her on Thursday morning asking if we’re still taking in interns. Found it puzzling and called her in the evening. She said the internship company is having some legal issues and she finds the culture toxic and is not for her. I was like huh, after one day? Nonetheless, asked if she wanted to come in on Friday for a chat. She said yes and told her I’ll text her my address. 19 mins later, she asked for a virtual interview. I admit I got angry and frustrated that no reason was given whatsoever and decided that I shouldn’t bother anymore.

I certainly wasn’t expecting the uproar over this, and being infamous is not on my to-do list. I’ll apologise for wasting everyone’s time if this thing has been taken out of context. Life is short. There are many other more important things to worry about. Like how to make sure the other interns coming in learn what is right.

And for those who’re worried that I’ll do something stupid, don’t worry. There are still a couple of toys I need to sell and orders to send. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk and enjoy whatever that’s left of the previous weekend.

MAN EARNS $10K BUT SPENDS $9K/MONTH ON KTV, EVERY FRI-SUN BEDS DIFF VIETBU

0

A netizen shared how he makes roughly $10k per month through his day job as an insurance agent and his various investments, but spends $9k every months on KTV every Friday, Saturday and Sunday; leaving him with a little over $1k for his daily expenses.

Here is what he said

“Before i start, I just want to provide a little context.

I work as an insurance agent, some other insurance agents like to call themselves “financial planner” or smlj, call a spade a spade la pls, insurance agent just say insurance agent.

I make money through selling insurance and savings plans and etc, and I also dabble in cryptocurrency and have a few investments here and there. So I have a few sources of income.

I earn roughly $10k per month, give or take, which for the average person seems like it is more than a lot of money for them, but I have a problem.

I am addicted to KTV, not even exaggerating.

I have these groups of friends that go drinking at KTVs with me, like Friday I go with this group, Saturday I go with another group, and Sunday I go with another group.

So we spend about $600 (which we split) at the KTV, usually open a few bottles of martell, then hanky panky touch here touch there with the vietbu inside the room.

Not related to the story but many of my friends are also insurance agents, but some of them I met through those functions by the insurance companies and they are from other insurance agencies, we just got along well and go out happy together.

So drink already confirm need to have some “action” mah, if you know what I mean. Tip the girl $100 then “mummy” ask if want to dabao the girl to hotel, $300. So $400 on top of the alcohol money, then add the taxi fare and overnight hotel fee.

One night maybe spend about $700 to drink and have fun, then I do it all over again the next day, and the next day. So like that Friday to Sunday I spend $2.1k plus minus already.

Some days I wake up hangover, but I love KTV so much that I feel this urge and need to go down again. Even on weekdays when I’m working, all I can think about it looking forward to the weekends.

So adding everything up, each month I spend about $8.5k to $9k give or take, which is almost 90% of my monthly income.

And I can’t stop, and I don’t know how to stop, and I don’t want to stop. So what is the purpose of the story? Don’t go to KTV, you will spend all your money there (and if you go KTV that means my girls will have to butterfly and spend lesser time with me), so stay home. Find a hobby. Do more useful things with your life.

thanks for listening to my ted talk, ok thanks bye.”

SIAMBU QUITS HER DEGREE STUDIES TO BECOME SIAM DIU SINGER, EARNS $7K/MTH

0

A netizen shared how her former Thai classmate quit school and gave up on pursuing her degree to become a siam diu singer, and is earning more than $7k per month.

Here is what she said

“I had this friend back in uni, let’s call her Jenny, who was pursuing a degree in business, and halfway through the first year she just expectedly quit school and gave up on her degree, back then nobody knows why and she just kinda disappeared.

Fast forward a few years later, I was with my boyfriend and we were at a siam diu just chilling and drinking and listening to the music, when this petite brown hair girl strutted up the stage and started singing.

She looked really familiar and I actually made my way in front for a while, to get a closer and clearer view, and to my surprise it was Jenny. But I didn’t think she recognised me, or even noticed me.

So I got my boyfriend to hang flowers for her for $200, and she came over to our table to drink with us, and when she looked at me, she was just as shocked as I was.

We caught up and she told me that she left school because she grew tired of studying, and her father had just died back in Thailand and her mother was left to take care of their family back home.

They had borrowed and spent a huge sum of money to pay for Jenny’s degree here, and after her father died, there was an immediate need for money for the family back home.

So Jenny just dropped out of school and stopped pursuing her degree, not that it matters to her because she didn’t want to study anymore, but she felt the burden of the loans that her parents took.

So anyway she told me that her family needed money back home urgently, and she chose the career paths with the most immediate and lucrative monetary returns – she started working at thai discos. She had wanted to work as a KTV hostess as well but the thought of being groped and touched by men made her revulse. So she worked at siam dius instead.

And she said that she loved it, because the men are giving her all the attention, whereas back in school or back home, no one batted an eyelid at her and treated her like she was invisible.

She said that in a good month, she makes about $7k to $8k, or even 5 figures if the patrons are generous with her, and that her family issues back home are finally settled with her sending money back to them every month, and they are comfortable.

She added that she has no regrets giving up her degree to become a singer at thai discos, because she is making a lot more money than others.

Case in point, I eventually graduated with my business degree and I earn a monthly income of about $4k, and Jenny gave up her degree to sing at siam dius and she is making almost twice of my income.

To be honest, the thought of joining her did cross my mind HAHA but I can’t sing to save my life, so I’ll stick to my present career.

But yeah that is the story of Jenny, my long lost friend who disappeared from school and became a siam diu singer.

By the way Jenny is not her real name.”

Editor’s note: Study so hard for what, go for singing classes and work at siam diu sua.

S’PORE HIKER WHO WENT MISSING IN JB FOREST, DETAINED BY M’SIA FOR INVESTIGATIONS

0

We previously reported that a man from Singapore, Jason Ren Jie, had gone missing in the Johor forest during a hike with his Malaysian friend.

It has since been revealed that the man is a China national who is a Singapore PR, and he has been detained by the Malaysian authorities for investigation, according to Channel NewsAsia.

Ren Jie had apparently entered the forest reserve without a permit and the Johor Forestry Department is planning to take action against him.

Salim Aman, the director of the Johor Forestry Department, confirmed that Ren Jie was released form the hospital after being rescued on 18 September, and has been detained after that.

Salim added that Ren Jie was detained for being a foreign national, and that if a local had done the same, he would’ve been released on bail.

The case has since been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further investigation, and he could be charged under Malaysian law for hiking in a forest reserve without a valid permit.

ALL METAL CANNED DRINKS & PLASTIC BOTTLES COULD HAVE EXTRA FEE OF 10-20¢ BY MID-2024

0

A new container return scheme will be implemented by the National Environment Agency (NEA) to help promote the act of recycling, by the middle of 2024.

All metal and plastic pre-packaged drinks will see a small deposit of 10 to 20 cents being charged.

However, before the new scheme is rolled out, NEA is seeking the public’s opinion on the scheme through public consultation.

You can get the deposit back when you return the container

Under the scheme, if you buy any metal can drinks or plastic bottled drinks, you will be charged an additional 10 to 20 cents on top of the beverage’s retail price, as a “deposit”.

This will apply to all metals and plastic drink containers for all kinds of beverages such as beer, soft drinks, fruit juices and milk.

You can then get your 10 to 20 cents deposit back when you drop the cans or bottles off at the designated return points, which will be located at community spaces and retail outlets.

At the return points, you can use a Reverse Vending Machine to get your money back, or over the counter through a cashier.

Other options for the refunds include electronic transfers, cash, cash vouchers or even donate it to charity.

The scheme is part of initiatives to improve the rate of recycling and reduce waste, and is the first phase of an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) approach to manage packaging waste and Singapore’s low recycling rate.

This would also extend the lifespan of the landfill at Pulau Semakau beyond 2035, as well as cut down on carbon emissions.

It was first announced at the 2020 Committee of Supply debate in parliament.

NEA said that 8 in 10 people are supportive of the scheme, in a survey conducted early last year among 1,000 households.

You can provide feedback about what you feel and think about the scheme by clicking here.

The 37-year-old man who was seen in a viral video attacking a 73-year-old elderly woman with a stick, was arrested for affray.

The police were alerted to the incident on 17 September at about 6.30pm, at the Garden Bridge near 1 Park Road in Chinatown.

Recap

The elderly woman was seen holding on to a stick and confronting the man, as another auntie in red tried to break the two of them apart.

The man then pushed the auntie in red away before snatching the stick away from the auntie in blue and kicking her in the process.
