I’m going to end my 10 year relationship because my husband is more devoted to winning against me than caring about me.
The first three years were amazeballs. We did fun things together, we traveled, we had shared interests, we were loving to each other. In the last seven years, his true personality has come out.
He criticizes any thought I have. I don’t like some food? I’m wrong. I like a sappy TV show? I’m wrong. It doesn’t matter what it is, he will fight and fight over the dumbest things only for the satisfaction of winning.
Most of those wins are just me giving up because I can’t believe that where a dish should go in the dishwasher needs a 15 minute speech about how right he is about dish placement.
We’re in counseling now, and every appointment is his efforts to prove me wrong about something and never, ever about him trying to apply anything, something, anything that the counselor has tried to teach us.
Im exhausted and I give up. Ten years of telling me I am worthless? Ok, you win. I will remove my worthless self from your life. And then I will finally breathe again.
My brother still sleeps in my room and my friends think it’s weird
I am the oldest of 7 children and live at home with my other siblings and parents. I am 26f and the youngest is 11m.
Since he was born, he’s always been my sweet pea, I was 14 when he was born for reference. He’s always been good natured and we are similar personality wise as he’s gotten older.
He’s always favored me over our other siblings (he maintains he loves us all the same and I know he does, we just spend the most time together).
Growing up I took him with me everywhere (mostly due to babysitting 24/7 as the oldest but I mostly didn’t mind since he was so sweet and a good child).
As he’s gotten older it’s turned more into hanging out and me guiding him through peer situations and helping with schoolwork.
However, he likes to come sleep in my room on occasion. During thunderstorms or sometimes we have “sleepovers” where we watch movies and eat snacks and he brings his stuffed animals in my room for the night.
I don’t find this weird, he’s my little brother, he still acts like a kid and he’s extremely small for his age. His concerns lie with video games and Legos.
Some of my friends give me grief over this though and say it’s weird that he sleeps in my room. I am curious as to what others have to say.
Netizens’ comments
I don’t think it’s weird at all. He’s your kid brother and honestly it’s awesome you guys are so close and hang out like that, I’m sure you put a lot of good into his life
It sounds like you have a close relationship but not in a weird, strange or creepy way. Just ignore your friends.
This is such a beautiful relationship to have. I am 26f and my little brother was 12m and he was my whole world; I would give anything to have one last sleep over. He passed in April this year due to cancer. Cherish every moment you get to spend with your sweet pea because I know you mean the absolute world to him and he will love you forever for it
A netizen shared how she takes Grab to and from work every day, and she spends about $1.2k of her salary on her Grab rides alone.
Here is what she said
“I am working at a pub and my work starts at 7pm until about 3am. I have a habit of taking Grab to and from work because I want to avoid the peak hour crowds inside MRTs and trains.
I live somewhere in the West and my Grab rides to work cost about $30 plus, and by the time I end work, I’m usually drunk and it’s about 3am and there’s no more public transport and I have no choice but to take Grab home.
For context, I work at a pub and my job included serving, cashiering and drinking with the customers. And no I am not a hostess, my job scope just includes entertaining them and I get extra money if they buy me ladies drinks. I also don’t provide any “services”, it’s a legit and honest job.
And a lot of people are asking why I don’t have travel allowance from my workplace since I end work so late, and my employers tell me that they don’t give me travel allowance in exchange for 100% of the money from ladies drinks and a higher commission rate.
So basically i get more money, in a way.
Anyway, so taking Grab to and from work, each day I spend about $60++, and when I add up all the money that I spend on Grab every day, it totals to about $1.2k per month.
I am earning about $3k++ so almost half of it is spent on Grab rides.”
Editor’s note: You can save half the money by taking public transport to work, the MRT/buses isn’t as crowded as you think at 5-6pm+.
I have been married since 2014. Knew my husband when we were in uni days. Was attracted to him in earliest days as I felt the need to care for him as his family were very disintegrated, and I felt obligated to help him get his family back together.
We were happy in earliest day and I have always put him above my needs. However, over years he had a few close calls with his female friends and eventually I found out he had an affair. Somehow, the screwed up brain of mine helped him to rationalised his affair and I chose to stay in the marriage. Although I knew deep down, things were never the same anymore.
I thought he would learn to cherish me more since the incident but his addiction in games, he’s just very absorbed into his own world and life and many times I had doubts, why am I still in thr marriage.
In 2018, I made the decision that this was enough for me. I wanted a seperation, out of this miserable marriage. That’s when I met J too. He was a colleague from work. Never felt what love can be till I met him. Fairytale? Novelty some may say.. Yeah eventually I went to my husband as he came crying for forgiveness. Soft-hearted, I had to reject J and we broke each other heart..
Fast forward 2019, I was pregnant with my baby girl. She’s a bundle of joy but although it was OUR first born, the whole pregnancy journey felt lonely. I will go to bed alone, waking up at 2am seeing an empty bed. In between we fought too over him wanting to pay for his family car, not sure why the family was adamant about getting a intercontinental car. What’s wrong with a jap model, it’s still a car and serve it purpose. A baby is coming and they still want to spurge. Am I wrong to think for our baby..?
Hell broke loose when baby girl was born. Understand bring first time parent can be unnerving, everyone just told me to be more patient towards him. But what about me? I’m the one that got pregnant, went through all the physical and emotional change and yet I got was temper and nasty words from him. No words of appreciation at all..
Somehow got reconnected to J after baby girl was born. I swear on ocassions I think I almost went into post natal depression but he was there for me. The connection is strong. He read me like a book, again I thought what now that I’ve a kid.. It didn’t wavier his intention of wanting to be with me. I thought I could do it too.. Till guilt gets to me, not because of me having the affair but rather the thought that if I chose to be with him, I will have to divorce my husband and give my girl a broken family.
Does family need to be a father and mother? Is staying on as parents, right for this marriage and for my girl.. While he is trying but I guess all the scars accumulated make it almost possible to open up to him again.
Eventually, J felt it’s better he back out once again and hope that I will find peace and happiness with my husband but what he didn’t know was.. Things are impossible to turn back anymore and I miss him..
Driving is always my biggest fear in my life, something I couldn’t make myself do it. Not many people know that I was involved in a car accident around 6 years old.
Although the rest of us had only slight injuries, my mum suffered a miscarriage and somehow life is never the same again. My dad and mum’s relationship suffered, but because of me and my younger brother, they never divorce. For a long period of time, my mum would blame my dad for the miscarriage.
After graduating from junior college, while waiting for university to start, most of my close friends started learning to drive and kept persuading me to join them. I cannot overcome my fear, so I came out with different excuses to reject them. Soon, all my close friends got their licenses and drove their parents’ cars out. I have to depend on them fetching me home during late night.
They sometimes would joke around, saying I’m “Da Xiao Jie”, refuse to learn to drive my own and need to depend on them.
I did try. I signed up with a private instructor for lessons, but the moment I held my hand on the steering wheel, I would have a panic attack, my heart beating like crazy, breathless, and so on. After several lessons like this, the instructor gave up on me and rather refunded me the money than waste time on me.
I never imagine myself taking any driving lesson again until one incident. My husband was overseas and I was left at home taking care of my toddler. He climbed up on the sofa and accidentally fall and hit the edge of the table while I was cooking dinner. There was a deep and large cut on his face and blood was gushing out from his wound. Really really scary. I couldn’t stop the bleeding, and I tried calling a cab/Grab but it kept stating no driver found. We do have a car but I cannot drive. Ended up I asking my neighbour for help and they were kind enough to send us to the hospital.
From then on, I understand I can no longer depend on others to drive me all the time. I forced myself to take up the driving course again, if nothing else, at least for the sake of my son. I was pretty lucky this time as I got a rather patient instructor. For the first few times, I was so scared that I literally just cried in the car. But the moment I remember my son’s accident, I would push myself to give it a try. I forced myself and managed to complete all the lessons. I did fail my driving test for 2 times. But for the 3rd time, the test instructor was very patient with me, and even willing to wait for me to calm down to start the test.
Back in the room after the test, he said a lot of encouraging words to me, I thought I have failed again.
“Congratulations! You passed this time!” he said. I burst into tears and almost wanted to hug him. To him, maybe I am a crazy woman, or over-reacting. But to me, it is big progress for me. I finally overcame my fear and am capable of doing things I always fear of.
To those out there reading my post, I hope my story can motivate you to overcome your fear. It is extremely hard I know, but as long as we give ourselves a push, you can do it too!
I don’t take Grab car’s because I think its gross as many people used it.
Compared to others here, I guess I belong to the older golden generation. Anyone will think someone my age, a fair lady almost hitting a grand 60 years old, will be able to speak freely to my own family members. Without them judging me, chastising me. Right?
Not true. If my son hears this from me, he will rebuke me. If the in-laws hear this, well, they probably won’t talk to me anymore.
The in-laws occasionally invite me over for dinner. Nice, decent people. After dinner, the father always offers to send me home. I always have to decline, and said it’s fine, I have my driver fetch me back.
Sometimes, he will be quite persistent, like how I can give my driver a break. But I always insist, politely, that it’s fine, my driver is on the way.
I don’t mind the father’s car. Even though it’s a rather old, beaten Japanese sedan. What I do mind, however, is that it’s also a Grab car. The father uses it as a Grab driver 5 or 6 days a week, for the past 2 years I believe. Just imagine, the different people who sit in that car, total strangers, every day. Gross. Totally gross. The dirt, grime, dust, sweat, germs, stench, unmentionable filth of countless, hundreds (or thousands?) strangers in that car.
And he expects me, someone who has not taken public transport or even a taxi for goodness knows how many years, to sit in this type of car?
I simply cannot understand why people can allow total strangers to violate and stain their own car like this. For livelihood?
The money is pitiful I believe, probably not even enough for a decent vacation.
Here are what netizens think:
how would you know if it’s dirty? did you ask him? maybe he sanitises it after every Grab passenger?
Hmm. Near t0 60 and in laws invite her over n the father offer drive her.home?? How old is the father? Must be very old ? N still doing grab? Of course it is for the livehood. Sometime it is not about the money, it about how they want to spend their time .

He previously went viral for all sorts of wrong reasons.
Here is what Golden Village said:
Thank you for making our inaugural Lights, Camera, Busking Live! event a success!
GV supports the local busking community and is happy to bring you a 2nd edition of busking performance by having homegrown singer-songwriter 黄長俊 Jeff Ng at GV for a music showcase! Come sing along as you catch him performing live at GV VivoCity on 9 Sep! What’s more, purchase his album at just $12 and get his autograph on that day.
Here are what netizens said:
finally! and thanks alot GV! I am so looking forward to listening to him sing in the comfort of air-con. Recent event at Gardens by the bay was too warm and humid. CYA JEFF!
Please remember to cue the audience to applaud after each performance otherwise the performer will get angry and scold them.
Don’t want la, later i play phone or chat with friends he scold me how.
I just bought the tickets, if he scold i will not support him anymore. give him 1 chance.
Chose a cinema so I can’t talk while he’s performing?
The most epic comment:
Is there any criteria to entry of the concert like:
1. having to like his IG Page
2. having to unlike other singer’s IG Page
3. being quiet and not talking to anyone during the concert
Also, will there be a refund if he chooses to walk out and not “earn for the day”?
If we get scolded during the concert, is there any recourse (i.e. will GV assist with customer service)?
In a joint operation conducted by the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD), and Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), the SPF and RMP officers crippled two transnational scam syndicates allegedly involved in money laundering activities, in simultaneous raids carried out in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, Malaysia.
Since July 2022, the two Forces have shared critical information based on findings from reported scam cases. Through close collaboration and joint investigations with CCID/RMP, the syndicates believed to be behind the money laundering cells were identified to be based in Kuala Lumpur and Johor. On 10 August 2022, a team of 12 Anti-Scam Command officers from CAD, together with CCID/RMP officers, conducted simultaneous raids at two apartment complexes in Kuala Lumpur and Johor. Two female and seven male Malaysians aged between 19 and 39 years were arrested for their suspected involvement in cross border money laundering.
These scam syndicates are believed to be responsible for reports targeting more than 60 victims of Investment Scams, Job Scams, Fake Gambling Platform Scams, Sexual Services Scams, Sextortion, Government Officials Impersonation Scams and Loan Scams reported in Singapore, involving losses amounting to more than S$1.3 million. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two syndicates are believed to have targeted Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai and Indonesian victims and laundered their criminal proceeds in Malaysia.
Simultaneously in Singapore, officers from the Anti-Scam Command arrested two men and two women, aged between 18 and 49 years, for their suspected involvement in aiding the money laundering syndicate by handing over their personal bank accounts or relinquishing their SingPass accounts.
Another 24 individuals are assisting the Police in their investigations.
Investigations against the Singapore suspects are ongoing. The offence of facilitating unauthorized access to computer material under Section 3 read with Section 12 of the Computer Misuse Act 1993 carries an imprisonment term of up to two years, a fine, or both. The offence of unauthorised disclosure of access code for any wrongful gain or unlawful purpose under Section 8 of the Computer Misuse Act 1993 carries an imprisonment of up to three years, a fine, or both.
Director CAD, Mr David Chew said, “Cyber-enabled scams continue to be an area of serious concern. The internet continues to be used to deceive victims as well as recruit money launderers, often with promises of quick monetary returns. I strongly urge that the public to stay away from the lure of easy money by responding to jobs that involve the abuse of your Singpass or bank accounts. It is a criminal offence to abuse your Singpass and banking facilities at the behest of such criminals. We will take firm action against the money mules in Singapore, who sell their bank accounts and SingPass details to these syndicates or knowingly participate in the laundering of their proceeds of crime. The Singapore Police Force will continue to collaborate with our foreign law enforcement counterparts to detect and deter these transnational syndicates who prey on our citizens. I would like to thank Director CCID RMP, Commissioner Dato’ Mohd Kamarudin Md Din and officers from the intelligence and operations division for their strong support and commitment in tackling transnational crime syndicates that target victims in Singapore and abroad.”
The Police would also like to advise members of the public to call the Anti-Scam Hotline at 1800-722-6688 or visit www.scamalert.sg to seek scam-related advice. Join the ‘Let’s Fight Scams’ campaign at www.scamalert.sg/fight by signing up as an advocate to receive up-to-date messages and share them with your family and friends. Fighting scams is a community effort. Together, we can help stop scams and prevent our loved ones from becoming the next scam victim.
Following investigations by the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) into the activities of two Singapore subsidiaries of the German company Wirecard AG, Wirecard Asia Holding Pte Ltd (“WAH”) and Wirecard Singapore Pte Ltd, three former employees of WAH and Yeo Chiew Hai Henry (“Yeo”), a director of another Singapore company Jacobson Fareast Marketing Services Pte Ltd (“JFMS”), have been charged in court on 17 August 2022. The former employees of WAH are James Aga Wardhana (“Wardhana”), Chai Ai Lim (“Chai”) and See Lee Wee (“See”).
Between May and December 2018, the four individuals allegedly conspired with Edo Kurniawan (“Edo”), the then Vice President of Controlling & Finance of WAH, to dishonestly misappropriate various amounts between $41,200 to $100,000 from WAH. They are charged for offences of criminal breach of trust under Section 408 read with Section 109 of the Penal Code in relation to these amounts. If convicted, they face an imprisonment term which may extend to 15 years, and liability to a fine, for each charge.
Wardhana, See and Yeo are also accused of committing money laundering by allegedly transferring most of the misappropriated amounts to other individuals. For doing so, they are charged for transferring benefits of Edo’s criminal conduct under Section 47(2)(b) punishable under Section 47(6) of the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act. If convicted, they face an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and liability to a fine not exceeding $500,000, for each charge.
In addition, Wardhana has been charged under Section 477A read with Section 109 of the Penal Code, for allegedly abetting Yeo to falsify four invoices totalling $184,870 from JFMS to WAH. Yeo has also been charged under Section 477A of the Penal Code in respect of these invoices. If convicted, they face an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and liability to a fine, for each charge.
Edo left Singapore before investigations into the abovementioned offences commenced. A Warrant of Arrest has been issued against him in connection with the case.
