Every now and then we see odd methods retailers use to attack customers and a pet shop in Bangkok brought it to another level.

A pet shop located in Thailand Bangkok Chatuchak Market was seen hiring two models and placing them in fish tanks.

Each of the models could be seen wearing a bikini and was seen kneeling chest-deep in the fish tank along with an Arowana fish.

It is believed that it is a publicity stunt at a pet store and most probably a one-time “promotion”. Travellers hoping to see the “Mermaids” might not have a chance to get there in time.

The video which was uploaded to Facebook received almost 10 million views in a matter of a week.

INDIA MINISTER DRINKS RIVER WATER TO SHOW IT’S CLEAN, KENA HOSPITALISED

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, visited the Kali Bein holy river in Sultanpur Lodhi on 17 July to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the cleaning of the river, according to The Indian Express.

He stated his intention and announced a campaign to clean all of the rivers and drains in the state, as he drank water from the holy river to show that its safe for consumption.

The government of Punjab also released a photo of Mann drinking a glass of water from the river, and he was also seen in a video scooping the water from the river and swallowing it confidently.

He later experienced severe stomachache 2 days later on 19 July at his home in Chandigarh, and was subsequently sent to hospital.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Delhi and the government tries to keep the news a secret, conveying Mann to hospital for emergency treatment without his security personnel.

News of his hospitalisation was also not confirmed by the Chief Minister’s Office, with an official even claiming that he was healthy and well with a full day of activities ahead of him.

But sources claimed that Mann was sent to hospital for drinking water from the Kali Bein river.

He was later discharged from the hospital on 21 July, where he was diagnosed with an infection, according to The New Indian Express.

Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung said in a Facebook statement that the Ministry of Health doesn’t recommend a mass vaccination against monkeypox.

Ong Ye Kung’s statement

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, just like COVID-19. 

The International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR) Emergency Committee of WHO did not come to a consensus on this declaration. Nevertheless, WHO decided to do so, since the disease met the criteria of being an extraordinary event, put other countries at risk, and requires international coordination in response.

WHO’s risk assessment for monkeypox remains at ‘moderate’.

In Singapore, we have detected four imported and four local cases of monkeypox. The cases were promptly isolated. There was no evidence of them transmitting the infection to other people in the community.

The Ministry of Health, Singapore (MOH) also quarantines their close contacts for up to 21 days since last exposure, while lower risk contacts are monitored through phone surveillance. Typically, each case may generate three to four close contacts who require quarantine, unlike COVID-19 which may generate up to 20 quarantine orders.

As of now, given the self-limiting nature of the disease, MOH does not recommend the mass vaccination of the whole population against monkeypox, because the benefits do not outweigh the risk.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Singapore Premier League outfits Lion Cityy Sailors and Tampines Rovers got into a brawl near the culmination of their match, with players and coaches fighting each other on the pitch side.

It all kickstarted in the 87th minute of the match, with the score tied at 1-1. as Tampines Rovers striker Boris Kopitovic confronted Lion City Sailors defender Nur Adam Abdullah.

Other players, staff and coaches from both sides then got involved in the fracas, with Lion City Sailors head coach Kim Do-hoon then appearing to headbutt Tampines Rovers assistant coach Mustafic Fahrudin.

Fahrudin was seen holding onto his face in pain as he returned to the bench, and Kim was then shown a yellow card by the referee.

A police report was then filed by officials from Tampines Rovers for the alleged headbutt, according to The Strats Times.

The match eventually ended 2-1 to the Sailors via a last-minute winner by defender Pedro Henrique, and Kim and Fahrudin were seen shaking hands after the match.

But the tensions soon resumed yet again as players and staff from both sides then started confronting and shoving each other again.

Football Association of Singapore’s statement

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is aware of the alleged incidents that occurred in the technical areas as well as after the Singapore Premier League match between Lion City Sailors FC and Tampines Rovers FC on 24 July 2022.

According to MOH, Singapore confirmed its ninth monkeypox case yesterday (25 July), with the patient being a 31-year-old Filipino man.

The man had tested positive for monkeypox on Monday after developing a fever on 21 July, and he also had rashes on his face and body.

He sought medical treatment at SGH on Sunday and was admitted on the same day, and he is currently in stable condition.

His infection is not linked to the other cases and contact tracing is currently ongoing.

Singapore’s total number of monkeypox cases now stands at 9, with all 9 cases being men.

MOH also said earlier that they are engaging those who are more at risk of monkeypox through healthcare and community partners, including men who have intercourse with other men, and who have recently had intercourse with new partners.

Travellers who recently returned from areas with monkeypox cases are also urged to seek medical treatment immediately if they have a fever, rashes and swollen lymph nodes within 3 weeks of their trip.
