MAN FEELS UNCOMFORTABLE SEEING WIFE FOR 24HRS WHILE WORKING FROM HOME

0

My wife (29F) and I (32M) have been together for 5 years, living together for 3 years. We live in a 3 bedroom HDB flat.

When we first moved here, I was working from home while she was working in an office. The COVID came and, like many other couples, we struggled with spending 24h together, but we pulled through. When she went back to the office, things started to get better.

Several months ago her office closed and she started working from home. We set up a desk in the bedroom so she could work comfortably.

After a while, she started complaining because she does not like working in the same room where she sleeps. She says it’s hard for her to separate personal time from work time this way, and I totally get it. Also, we have 2 dogs that sometimes like to play in that room, and it can be annoying as well.

She wants to move her desk to the other room where I work so we work together, but I don’t, and here’s why:

My main reason is that I don’t want us to spend 24 hours together again. I don’t think it would be healthy for any of us and our relationship. Apart from that, I need a lot of focus for my job, and I have made sure to accommodate the room to be as isolated from noise as possible. She is very noisy while working. It’s not her fault, she just needs to be on many calls and speak all the time, but we are just not compatible for working in the same space. Finally, while we could fit 2 desks in that room, it’s a very small room and we would both be uncomfortable.

Since I don’t want us to work in the same room and I understand why she does not want to work in the bedroom either, I have suggested renting her a small office or coworking space. There are very nice places around that are within our budget, and I would pay for it too since that space will be good for both of us.

She says that she also wants the benefits of working from home and does not want to go outside to work, which is understandable. Working from home can be very convenient and I see why she does, not t want to go back to working outside.

I just think that our flat is not suitable for 2 people working, I have a lot of expensive equipment that I don’t feel comfortable leaving in a coworking space, so I would have to set it up every day. I think it makes more sense if she is the one who works outside.

GIRL DATES 2 GUYS, CHOOSING BETWEEN LOOKS AND RICH FAMILY

0

Met 2 guys from dating app around the same time, now both are starting to hint that they wanna date me exclusively. But I don’t know who to choose

So Guy A is totally my type in terms of looks. Due to similar upbringing and educational background, we have a lot of common conversation topics and on top of that he has good sense of humour.

We also share a liking for one particular sport which we do together weekly. He lives in HDB and doesn’t drive, his family is not rich but lives a comfortable life. He was a scholar back in uni and now holding a managerial position in MNC.

He is very capable at work, generally street smart and carries himself well around people. Only weaknesses I noted so far 1) He doesn’t show much concern when I have a bad day or when i am sick, not really sure if he doesn’t know how to comfort me or just can’t be bothered. 2) He doesn’t like to plan dates so usually is either I plan or we do things impromptu. He does try to accommodate to my love language that is quality time and we spend quite a lot of time together despite his busy schedule.

Guy B is not bad looking too, although not exactly my type. He comes from affluent family, owns a condo and drives. He holds a decent job, but I happened to know he is actually a uni dropout and got the job through his parents’ connections. He is not as smart / capable as guy A but personality wise he is more warm and caring. He is very talkative so there is never awkward silence between us, but as time passes, I notice he does most of the talking and we don’t have much common topics to talk about. We also have no common interest. He is very generous with gifts and he brought me to nice places for dates. He openly tells me he is serious about me and hopes to settle down with me soon, something that guy A never brought up before. He even brought me home and introduced me to his family although we are not together yet.

In short, I feel like I get along better with guy A and more attracted to him as he is smarter and more capable, but guy B seems to be a better guy to settle down with given his financial stability and caring nature. Hence the dilemma. I am approaching 30 soon and hoping this relationship will be my last.

Just wanna get the crowd’s opinion on who you will choose and why.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Choose neither. You’re a red flag yourself. Poor lads. No matter who you choose, you will pin for the other one whenever you have problems with the first one. No man deserves such a woman who will keep thinking she could have chosen better whenever a problem arises.
  • So hard to decide..Cos we don’t even know you nor them personally.Follow your heart.. It’s what keeps you going when the going gets tough!
  • Instead of comparing the two, have you figured out what kind of a partner you want for life? In terms of vision, values, financial goals etc. I think if haven’t , better figure out first.
  • What are your values? What are their values? After all the looks, materialism, jobs, status are gone, what else is left is what you should think about… Marriage is till life and not till all you are ‘happy’ or ‘have’… Without these values, not only are you doing a disservice to yourself but to them as well…
  • Lol. This rs won’t be your last. You look at looks and money more than anything else. You’ll just keep changing to the next better one. So you best stay single. Don’t waste other people’s sons times.

INVESTING 65% OF SALARY, WOMAN SEEKS ADVICE ON INVESTMENT

0

27y/o single female, working since graduation (2017). Zero investing knowledge… attempting to learn. Since I’ve been saving all my money in my bank, currently have about $95000. I have life and health insurance.

Investment breakdown

Take-home pay: ~$3500/month

Monthly expenses: $600 (self) + $600 (to parents)=$1200/month

Does it make sense to allocate the rest of my salary:

80% stocks 20%bond

For the stocks portion:

  • $500- S&P500 (US MARKET)
  • $500- VXUS (INTERNATIONAL MARKET)
  • $800- NIKKO ATM STI (SG MARKET)

I’m considering topping up CPF SA (about $500/month) as the bond portion for tax relief.

I chose ETF for my investment, the stocks portion as they are well-diversified and I’m not familiar with how to pick individual stocks. My concern is that there are taxes (30%?) associated with investing in USD… does it make better sense to stick to SG market?

No Knowledge of investments

Also, I am unsure what is the best platform to use for these transactions. Currently using an online broker (moo moo/tiger trading) for S&P500 and VXUS, and OCBC BCIP for the Nikko ATM STI. I’m concerned if online broker is safe and cost-effective in the longterm.

Finally, am I allocating too much of my budget to investment? Should I continue to save money in the bank for my short-term goals (next 8-10years) (house, car, etc).

Please pardon my noob questions. I’m reluctant to talk with financial advisors as I always feel like they are trying to sell me their products… hence I turned to this platform. Hopefully, I can get some good insights on investment, which I’ll take with a pinch of salt of course.

Thank you very much sharing your views!

WIFE DEMANDS TO BE NAMED SOLE LIFE INSURANCE BENEFICIARY OR DIVORCE

0

A man shared a story online after he got into a dispute with his spouse on insurance coverage. Life insurance is typically marketed as protecting your loved ones and the story goes way beyond what one will expect.

Some things lost their value after doing for the sake of doing and forcing the decision on others.

Here is the story:

I need a place to share my thoughts. My wife has been asking me to buy life insurance and place her name as the sole beneficiary.

I am in my early 30s and I have been married for 3 years, my parents are still not as old yet but they are soon reaching the age of retirement. I feel that putting only my wife’s name in the insurance is not right. However, we had a massive argument with me over it.

I then told her to do the same, putting only my name and omitting her parents. (I said this to make her know how I feel). But she scolded me and said a lot of nonsense that “It’s not the same”.

I always have plans to do a 50-50, if anything happens to me my parents get half and my wife gets the other half. This is the default but she said that if I don’t put only her name she will divorce me straight.

I was thinking in my heart, She is also working as well and does she need the money that badly.

The thing is, we don’t even have kids, my plan was to buy the life insurance as soon as she gets pregnant and I am 100% sure is not because she has some health issues. If we were to have a kid we have to go through the medical way, this is confirmed by the doctor and in no way is she pregnant.

Married for 3 years, together for 8 years.

Before marriage, everything is sweet and fine. After the marriage, everything is about money and money.

The thing is, she is having a wonderful job earning over $6k a month and I’m about the same. We have a healthy amount of savings and she is still forcing me to do this.

This issue on insurance has been going on for the past week and we are barely talking.

Sometimes, I used to question why other married man people cheat in their marriage. I can see why now.

Marriage has transformed from a sacred ceremony to a business transaction.

Should I leave her?

STAFF GETS SCOLDED BY MANAGER FOR BEING TOO EFFICIENT

0

I (31F) don’t get any respect from my bosses at work. I’m the team lead of accommodation in my hotel and the team lead of the cleaning department (supervisor title, but really should be a manager or assistant manager) My bosses include the manager and general manager who are male and one other female manager.

Every time there are any problems in my way I fix them immediately. I then get in trouble for not bringing it to the attention of the managers. If I don’t sort out any problem and go to the managers I get in trouble for not taking the initiative.

I’m at a loss. I can’t win. My team members always tell me that they prefer me to be the manager and other workers in other departments have told me that they would prefer me to be their manager. I know I’m good at my job and I’m rather organised too.

I have gone to the manager many times with ideas on how to make things more efficient and have been rejected. I know as well that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m not a bad person and I always get the job done with a smile.

I have gone to the other female manager and asked her “as a woman how can I go about getting more respect from the other managers” she has been here for over 20 years and told me maybe they are just having a bad day…..really?? Every time I try to talk to them?

My boyfriend told me that I maybe I should change to a new job but I really love my job and don’t want to look for another one. I know respect is earned and I give a lot of respect to everyone around me but seem to get little in return. Please help me, any advice will be good before I start looking for a new job. I urgently need help right now.

GIRL WITH “MATURE FACE”, GETS MISTAKEN AS CLASSMATE’S MOTHER

0

Mistaken by others as my classmate’s mum Hi all, i will like to share about my problem of having a very mature face 显老脸.

I am always being mistaken as older than my actual age since young. When i was in kindergarten, ppls thought that i am in secondary school or JC etc.

And recently when I was shopping with my classmate of the same age, an insurance agent approached us and try to hard-sell because he thought that i am the mother of my this classmate.

Any advices on how to survive being having an “auntie face”

Netizens’ comments

  • If you can post your face here too, I can give a proper advice. Need to see how seriously aging face or matured face you have.
Sincerely if it is from disease or genetic defect, it may be impossible to do much. As you said, people mistook you for JC student when you were in kindergarten, you must be aging real fast like in the movie, Benjamin Button, check in Netflix. You may hv Benjamin Button disease.
I hope it is not your case.Take care.
  • How the fark when you are in kindergarten and people said you looked like you are in JC? Kindergarten is 5 to 6 years and JC is 17 to 18……People around you are idiots?

PRC MAN EXECUTED AFTER SETTING HIS WIFE ON FIRE AND KILLING HER

0

A Chinese court has executed a man to death for murdering his ex-wife while she was live-streaming her. The case shocked the nation and sparked calls for better protection against domestic violence.

Tang Lu the man who set fire to his ex-wife tried to appeal against his sentence in January 2022 but lost.

Background:

After a day-long trial, the Intermediate People’s Court of Sichuan’s Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture said in its judgment Thursday that defendant Tang Lu had committed an “extremely cruel” crime.

When Tang Lu’s ex-wife, 30-year-old Ram, was broadcasting live on Douyin last September, Tang Lu poured gasoline on her and set her on fire.

The case has drawn intense attention in China, where its legal system has been criticized for failing to protect women from domestic violence, even after they seek help.

China introduced an anti-domestic violence law in 2016. But the penalties are light, and women say restraining orders are rarely enforced. Since the law was enacted, more than 900 women have died at the hands of their husbands or partners.

WOMAN WATCHES COUPLE WHO ARE FANS OF ANIME, SAYS “EVEN NERDS CAN FIND LOVE”

0

There I was having dinner with my son when I notice them. A couple sitting near us. Both of them glued to their phones minding their own business while munching their food. Zero interaction.

My first impression with them was harsh. “Going out on a date and still on their phones? What’s the point?” Then suddenly the boy show the girl something on the phone and the girl responded with a smile.

I notice the guy’s dressing. Tee shirt with some anime characters, jeans. He is a typical geeky looking guy. No toned muscles or good physic, thick glasses, abit messy hair. He definately didn’t work out or groom himself much. A typical guy that look like he spend alot of time indoors.

The girl? Typical nerdy girl. Golden specs, ponytail. Wearing light color sleeved tee shirt and mid length shorts. Neat socks and shoes. She is not gorgeous and make-up looks minimal. No guys will give her a 2nd look.

I can see both of them with their shopping bags, from a nearby shop selling Japanese anime novelties and toys. I concluded they like watching anime and reading mangas.

The guy is explaining or discussing something to the girl. I hear it’s something about some anime series. The boy got very technical, sharing the plot, the character and whatnot. He basically geeked out in his conversation. If he is talking to normal folks, everyone would be bored to death.

But the girl, she is listening intentively. I can see she is engaging and her eyes glittering. She is enjoying the conversation.

There they are, enjoying each other’s company yet take breaks in between while checking out their phones. I realised this is how introverts communicate. They need their own space but also enjoy other’s company, as long as their space is maintained.

They were very cute in my eyes. This also prove that anyone deserves love regardless if your looks or your hobbies. I hope their relationship continue to flourish and go further. To prove that even nerds or plain looking people can find love.
