There was an etiquette class I attended when I was young, the trainer taught us how to eat rice with a fork. He said rice was not meant to be eaten with a spoon. I remember that etiquette class clearly as it looked funny to me and some of my friends.

I just wanna rant a bit. Earlier this year my hubby bought an 10 year old used Honda civic as his 2nd car. He let me drive his Nissan Qasqhai to work instead.
I have no problem but questioned why get such an old car. He said something about being nicer to drive and saving more petrol which I didn’t really ask further.
Last month as I doing some financial work for our household, I found out that there’s about 25k less contribution from him for the past months. I confronted him.
He said he used the money to maintain his Honda. 25k in 6 months?? Goodness!! He say its one-time wear and tear replacement and all settled. I chided him for making bad financial decisions to get an old Honda which is probably a lemon. He promised he fixed it and he’s done.
Then by some coincidence, my FB starts featuring workshops with modification works made to cars and saw my hubby’s Honda in their photo! The workshop boasted modification done to his car’s suspension. I when digging further and found out his 25k is actually used to modify various parts his old Honda! Racing Brakes, sports wheels, racing suspension, modified engine, exhaust pipes and god knows what else! No wonder I recently felt why the Honda seems noisier and more uncomfortable when I’m the passenger.
I’m super pissed, and I know my hubby reads these stories so I’m getting his attention here!

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a media release that the traffic flow through the Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoitns is expected to be congested, going into the Hari Raya Haji weekend.
ICA’s statement
Traffic flow through Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints has been gradually increasing since the reopening of borders. Traveller volume over the recent weekend (1 to 3 July) peaked to more than 282,000 per day, surpassing the highest weekend travel volume recorded during the June school holidays (278,000 per day), Vesak Day (224,000 per day) and Good Friday (149,000 per day) weekends.
2. ICA expects continued heavy traffic this coming long weekend with the Hari Raya Haji public holiday on 11 July (Monday). Travellers should expect delays from 8 July (Friday) to 11 July (Monday) and are advised to adjust their travel plans, where possible, to avoid being caught in traffic congestion.
Advice to travellers using the land checkpoints
3. At the peak of the Hari Raya Haji long weekend in 2019, travellers departing and arriving by car via the land checkpoints had to wait up to four hours before they were cleared through immigration.
4. Travellers are thus advised to factor in additional time for immigration clearance and avoid the following peak hours:
Departing Singapore
Arriving in Singapore
Friday, 8 July 1500hrs to 2359hrsSaturday, 9 July 0600hrs to 1000hrs, 1600hrs to 2100hrs
Monday, 11 July 2022 1800hrs to 2359hrs
5. Travellers departing via Woodlands Checkpoint may wish to note that the Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia has commenced upgrading works on their arrival immigration car booths at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar since 6 June. During this period, booths that are undergoing upgrading will not be operational.
6. Before embarking on their journey, motorists are advised to check the traffic situation at the land checkpoints through the Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s One Motoring website or via the Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) installed along the BKE and AYE respectively. Motorists can also get updates on the traffic situation at both land checkpoints through ICA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as local radio broadcast on Money 89.3, Kiss92, One 91.3, Hao 96.3, UFM 100.3.
7. To avoid getting caught in traffic jams at the land checkpoints, travellers can take the cross-border bus services[1] provided by public bus operators or the shuttle train services[2] via the Woodlands Train Checkpoint, instead of driving into Malaysia via private vehicles.
Things to note for a smoother journey
8. To ensure a smooth immigration clearance and avoid undue delays, travellers are reminded to note the following:
i) They should ensure their passport has a remaining validity of six months or more.
ii) Singapore permanent residents who have renewed their passport will have to transfer their Re-Entry Permit (REP) to the new passport. Long-term pass (LTP) holders will need to notify ICA or the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) of any change in their passport particulars.
iii) Drivers of foreign-registered vehicles entering Singapore must have a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP), LTA approval email and Autopass card.
iv) All short-term visitors including in-principle approval holders are required to submit their Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC)[3] with health declaration within three days prior to their arrival in Singapore.[4]
Comply with other requirements
9. Arriving travellers who are not fully vaccinated[5] will receive a 7-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) via the email address provided in their SGAC declaration. Failure to comply with any SHN-related requirement is an offence under the Infectious Diseases Act. Travellers can visit safetravel.ica.gov.sg for the latest entry requirements into Singapore.
10. Travellers are also reminded not to bring in prohibited items. Those bringing in dutiable or controlled items must proactively make declarations to our officers prior to being checked.
11. Departing travellers driving Singapore-registered cars are reminded to observe the “three-quarter tank” rule. Offenders may be issued with a composition sum of up to $500 or prosecuted in court. They will be turned back at the land checkpoints, and not allowed to proceed with their journey into Malaysia.
Clearance efficiency without compromising security
12. ICA will take the necessary measures to facilitate immigration clearance without compromising security. Our checkpoint officers monitor traffic conditions in real-time, to ensure optimal deployment of resources. We also work with the Traffic Police to ensure road discipline at the critical junctions leading to the land checkpoints. We seek travellers’ understanding and cooperation to observe traffic rules, maintain lane discipline and cooperate with officers on-site when using the land checkpoints.

A 55-year-old man was arrested on 6 July, for allegedly molesting a woman in Holland Village.
The Singapore Police Force issued a statement saying that they received a report on the same day (6 July) that a woman was arrested.
They said that through the use of images from police cameras and follow-up investigations, the officers were able to establish his identity and he was then arrested within 4 hours of the report being made.
The man is due to be charged in court later today (7 July).
Upon conviction of outrage of modesty, the man faces a jail term of up to 3 years, a fine, caning, or any combination of the punishments.
Hi, before anyone does a double-take, I am a male soldier serving in a stay-in unit, totally straight. Won’t reveal much about my unit but it’s quite relaxed and the officers don’t really check around much, so the men are free to do whatever they want, but that leads to lawless authority there.
So basically, my platoon were chilling at the coy office and I asked my bunkmate (A) if he could help me for my programming script as I was trying to build up my coding portfolio. A said, “ok, let’s go to the bunk to see your script”. We are allowed to bring in our laptops for our own usage.
So we both headed to bunk. While walking, I sensed an air of awkwardness as if A thought that something was going to happen between us. Would like to add that this is not the first time A unbuttoned my pants or touched my genitals, although not directly yet. At the bunk, I took up my laptop and turned it on. A sat next to me, while I was showing him the problem. A started to unbuckle my belt, don’t ask why I didn’t stop him, some part of me thought it was some manly game. Then he started to undo my buttons and revealed my underwear. He put his head down and looked around and asked what brand were my underwear and I replied that I didn’t know.
I tried to change the topic and get his attention by asking him a question. He replied to the question quickly and turned back towards my crotch. He then looked at my crotch, said “this one got feeling” and gave it a flick. I was taken aback and said, “what you want, of course pain lah.”
Afterwards, I buttoned up my pants and continued to explain my issue. He gave me some suggestions and I proceeded to edit my code. After that, he went again to unbutton my pants, part of me felt scared as I knew what was going to happen. But I was scared to make it awkward and some faux masculinity part of myself made me ignore it.
He got into my underwear and went to open it and was like, ” wow its hairy”. Before I could react, he went to squeeze my genitals. I didn’t say anything but I jumped back and immediately buttoned my pants up. All of a sudden, the atmosphere changed and he realised I wasn’t interested in him. He sensed my defensiveness and unwillingness to continue further and said a few words on how to optimise my script and went away.
If anyone thinks that this was just a game and not an intentional assault, let me stop you right there. When you had someone’s face 10 cm from you and his sweaty hand squeezing your bare genitals, you just know he wants to screw you.
Some people may say that its just a touch, but if you were to go and squeeze another gender’s genitals in public, wouldn’t that be a criminal offense also, shouldn’t a same-gender assault carry the same weight as an opposite-gender assault? Not to mention the psychological damage it causes to the victim.
This incident left me really scared and helpless to speak up. Every time I see him, all of a sudden I feel so small and scared, like I have no power and he can do anything to me.
Sorry if this sounds like a fantasy story, but I don’t really know what to do and where to seek help. I’m worried about talking to my superiors as it’s really embarrassing and might affect my remaining time here.
It really makes me angry that because he is very “upz” and well liked by our superiors, if I were to report this, it will most likely be swept under the rug or our superiors will help him.
The Singapore Police Force said in a police advisory that there have been an increase in scams involving fake travel agent websites.
They urged the public to be wary of these scams and to adopt precautionary measures.
Singapore Police Force’s statement
The Police have observed an increase in scams involving the non-delivery of travel-related services, which includes visa applications, arrival card applications and flight bookings made through fake travel agent websites. Since January 2022, at least 35 victims have fallen prey to such scams, with losses amounting to at least $34,000.
In these cases, the victims would access fake travel agent websites to make their travel arrangements. The websites would prompt the victims to key in their personal details and payment card details to obtain the travel-related services they sought. After keying in their details for the first time, victims would receive more emails prompting them for more information to complete their application. Victims would realise that they had been scammed after checking with the relevant authorities and companies and discovered that their applications and purchases were never processed.
The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following precautionary measures:
Check with official sources such as the Singapore Tourism Board (www.stb.gov.sg) and the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (www.natas.travel) if the vendor is an accredited travel agent.
Purchase only from authorised sellers or reputable sources. Buying cheap tickets from resellers is risky – If the price is too good to be true, it probably is; and
Refer to the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s website (https://www.mfa.gov.sg/Where-Are-You-Travelling-To) to ensure that you are using the correct website for your applications to travel out of Singapore.
Report any fraudulent credit or debit card charges to your bank and cancel your card immediately.

My girlfriend had a miscarriage and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders
Funny part is I don’t even feel bad for how I feel. My (soon to be ex) girlfriend and I are both child free. I told her I would never even consider ever having a child and she was on board.
I got really drunk at a friends wedding (she was completely sober, hadn’t had even a sip of alcohol all night), and we ended up in bed together. I asked her the next morning if we used a condom and she said no because we were both “not thinking straight”. I asked her what her excuse was for “not being able to think straight” when she was completely sober and we never do it without a condom. She shrugged and walked out of the room. About 6 weeks later, lo and behold, she’s pregnant.
I felt my whole world crumble the second she told me she was pregnant. It takes two to make a baby, and I made my bed. I should’ve gotten a vasectomy when I had the chance.
Anyway, I went to the doctors appointments, participated in whatever she told me to, bought baby stuff and all. I wasn’t happy about it but I guess I’d come to terms with it.
My girlfriend came home one day and I showed her the baby clothes I bought. She then started tearing up and said she knew she did the right thing.
She went on to confess she knew even if she got pregnant on purpose, I’d be happy because she saw how much I loved taking care of my niece.
I got livid and told her it’s not the same thing and she had no right to do that without my consent. I left the house for a few days but decided to come back after the billions of calls my family left me talking about how my behavior would cause my girlfriend to have a miscarriage.
I pretended to be fine with her (kind of hate her guts), but she believed I forgave her. Last week, she had a miscarriage (no it wasn’t bc of the stress I gave her, contrary to what my parents believe).
Honestly? I feel alive again. I don’t have to be tied to her or a child for the rest of my life. She’s grieving really hard right now and I don’t want to make it worse by breaking up with her, but I’m definitely going to get it over with soon enough.
I know I’ll probably be called an a-hole for this post, but I’m not sure I care. I feel like this is a second chance at life.
A video emerged online showing a hit-and-run accident between a car driver and a teenage cyclist who was cycling across the road.
The incident happened on 6 July at Bukit Batok West Avenue 5.
The traffic light was green in the favour of the cyclist at the time of the hit and run accident.
The driver was seen in the video making a left turn at the same time the cyclist was crossing the road, and the driver then ran him over.
The cyclist was left in a heap on the ground as the driver then hurriedly fled the scene without even slowing down or stopping to check on the cyclist.
Potential penalties
It is a punishable offence to leave the scene of an accident, which is considered a hit-and-run – upon conviction, first-time offenders face a fine of up to $3,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months.
Instagram user Vivian Tong, shared a post of herself hugging a huge cake that is taller than her, onto her Instagram page @viviantong9960.
However, the cake isn’t an average normal cake, it is made out of a bunch of rolled up RM50 and RM100 notes, stacked onto each other to form a huge 9-tier cake towering over her.
The total amount of cash on the “cake” amounted to more than SGD$16,500 (RM52,000).
The “money cake” was a gift from her sister Coco, who chose to give her RM52,000 because the number 520 sounds like “I love you” in Mandarin.
Coco said in an Instagram post dedicated to her sister that she is the “only sister I have in this world who is related to me by blood, and even though we fight sometimes, I have to give you the best.”
Vivian shared that she took almost a whole week to dismantle the cake, and that the notes were held together with tape, according to SAYS.
