According to the Police media release, two women were arrested after an operation against illicit activities were conducted by the authorities.

The Police a carried out enforcement operations against vice-related activities at two massage parlors on Geylang Road. Two women, aged 37 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of violating the Women’s Charter of 1961.

The establishments will also be investigated for reportedly functioning as massage parlours without a proper license.

Penalties

Individuals found guilty of carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid licence are liable to a fine of $10,000, imprisonment of up two years, or both.

Those found to have breached the prescribed rules and conditions under the Massage Establishments Rules 2018 are liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000.

Illegal Hawker and Contraband Cigarettes

Two males, aged 44 and 67, were found to be involved in unlawful peddling during an investigation targeting illegal hawking operations and were issued summonses under the Environmental Public Health Act 1987 for peddling secondhand items in a public area without a valid licence. The items on display for sale were confiscated for further examination.

Singapore Customs officers also undertook enforcement against duty-unpaid cigarettes. Five males, ranging in age from 24 to 53, were issued advisory and fines of up to $2,500 for possessing duty-unpaid cigarettes. As part of the operation, 20 sticks of duty-unpaid cigarettes were seized.

The Police are looking for the woman shown in the image below to assist with investigations into a case of theft which was reported at a fruit stall outside Fu Lu Shou Complex on 2 March 2022.

Theft

The offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries a jail term of up to 3 years, or a fine, or both.

 It is a punishable offence to leave the scene of an accident, which is considered a hit-and-run – upon conviction, first-time offenders face a fine of up to $3,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months.

Following a week-long multi-agency enforcement operation from March 28 to April 1, 2022, a total of 26 men and 11 women, aged 24 to 79, are being investigated for their suspected involvement in different offences.

The authorities conducted a multi-agency enforcement action which consisted of:

Geylang

Two 28-year-old males were apprehended for allegedly belonging to gangs.

A 54-year-old male was also detained on suspicion of drug-related offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act of 1973.

Four individuals, aged 24 to 43, were reportedly caught in possession of substances suspected to be unregistered health items, including cough syrup and sexual enhancement products.

Gambling

The Police conducted enforcement operations against unlawful gaming at a  unit located along Geylang Road and uncovered a total of 21 men and women, aged 25 to 73, supposedly engaged in gambling-related activities.

More than $200 in cash, improvised furnishings, and gambling-related items were recovered.

The Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of 12-year-old Ms Jasmine Ng Jing Yan, who was last seen in the vicinity of Block 187B Rivervale Drive on 16 April 2022.

A video emerged online showing an elderly woman was seen riding her motorised wheelchair on a road. Vehicles approaching her had to avoid her.

The incident was recorded at Seng Kang East Road.

Previously a similar video was also uploaded to SG Road Vigilante’s Facebook depicting a Grab rider riding a motorised wheelchair that was travelling at speeds of over 50km/hour.

Danger

Drivers said it’s always unfair, whenever an accident happens its always the driver’s fault.

A video was uploaded by a TikTok user with a bunch of people singing religious songs on a commercial flight.

A man called out for what he was doing and said whatever he was doing is not appropriate.

The man even claimed that the pilot and staff from EasyJet were “in on it” allowing it to happen.

Moe Thadar 47-years-old, and Kwa Kim Seng, 65-years-old, both employees of an eldercare services provider, Active Global, were each charged with performing a negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide.

They had allegedly committed a negligent act that led to the death of a wheelchair user last February; they are being accused of failing to make sure that the deceased, Mr Hassan Mohamed Karchi Arsan Osman’s wheelchair was engaged, causing his death.

Kwa is also accused of failing to hold on to the victim’s wheelchair properly.

The court heard that Kwa, who is a Singaporean; and Thadar, a Myanmar national, are still working for the company. At the time of the alleged offence, Kwa was the driver of a vehicle while Thadar is a healthcare worker.

Kwa is being represented by lawyer Vinit Chhabra, while Thadar is represented by his lawyer K. Prasad, and the defence told the judge that they would like to view CCTV footage of the incident, as well as a forensic pathologist’s report on the deceased’s death.

Both Kwa and Thadar have been offered bail of $15,000 each and they are due to return to court on 23 May.

A video circulating with a few young men jumping in the water has gone viral. The video started out with a man jumping into a water fountain and later into the Singapore river.

Netizens said that whatever he is doing is not disrupting anyone but netizens are worried about safety.

The person recording the video seems to have “dared” the other person to jump into the waters.

Previously in August 2021, a man was also dared to go swim in the Singapore river but ended up dying.
