An orange cat was heard meowing for help after it got stuck in a canal, many people step in to help the cat.

The people in the area was seen using modified items such as fishing nets and umbrellas the ferry the cat to safety. Luckily, it did not rain or the cat might have gotten washed away.

The incident happened yesterday at the canal near Jalan Besar Community Club.

The netizen who posted the video said that:

“It wasn’t long before more people joined in to help, all while the frightened cat was meowing very loudly.More items were used to modify the dustpan, and finally the group of people were successful in their attempt using a umbrella tied to poles using a USB cable.

Every life matters, no matter how big or small.”

A video of the rescue was recorded by a passerby.

According to Nayang NPC, they published an advisory regarding scams using logos and photos of Police officers to trick victims.

Here is what they said on Facebook:

The Police have observed at least 1,200 cases of phishing scams since December 2021 and would like to alert members of the public to the re-emergence of a variant of phishing scams where scammers would apply for e-wallets with the information gathered from the victims.

2 Victims would receive unsolicited calls via messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Viber or IMO. Victims would subsequently speak to callers who would claim to be from a government agency such as the Singapore Police Force (SPF) or Ministry of Manpower (MOM). These callers would often display the official insignia or picture of officers from these government agencies as their profile picture, to reinforce their ruse. In some cases, the caller would initiate a video call through these messaging applications while dressed in a uniform similar to that worn by SPF officers.

3 During the conversation with the scammers, victims would be asked to provide their personal information, banking credentials and One-Time Password (OTP) for verification purposes or to assist in investigations. Using the information provided by victims, the scammers would then create an e-wallet using applications such as DBS PayLah!, Singtel Dash or GrabPay in the name of the victims, and top up the said e-wallet through the victim’s bank account. In some cases, victims were told to do cash top-ups to the e-wallets at AXS machines or at convenience stores. The victims would later receive notifications informing that various transactions were made from their bank account to their e-wallet and would only realise that they have been scammed when they contacted the banks to verify these transactions.

4 The Police would like to emphasise that these calls were not made by police officers. Government agencies will never contact members of the public via messaging applications to obtain your personal information, banking credentials or OTPs.

5 The public is advised to take the following precautions when they receive unsolicited calls via phone or messaging applications:

i. Ignore the instructions. No government agency will obtain personal information through a telephone call;

ii. Never disclose your personal or Internet banking details, including NRIC, NRIC issue date and OTP to anyone;

iii. Always verify the authenticity of the information by contacting the relevant government agencies through their official hotline; and

iv. Report any fraudulent transactions to your bank immediately.

A Food Panda rider was seen delivering drinks to a student straight to the seat of the customer at a lecture hall.

The video was posted on TikTok by Power 98 DJ Jerald Justin Ko on Valentine’s Day (Feb 14).

The delivery man was seen entering the lecture hall and asking the lecturer who is the student was supposed to receive the food.

Other students in the background were heard in the video background asking her to give a 5-star rating and even Ang Bao (Tip).

The lecture remained professional throughout the short interference in his lecture and directed the rider to the recipient.

A man was spotted not wearing a shirt and an officer was seen talking to him.

It is unclear what happen but the photo has gone viral and has accumulated more than a thousand shares on Facebook via multiple media outlets and forwarded many times on Whatsapp.

The photo was commented with dozens of hilarious comments.
