9,420 NEW CASES IN SINGAPORE, 4 FATALITIES


The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a total of 9,420 new cases on 13th February 2022 with 4 fatalities.

9,195 are local and 225 are imported cases.

The weekly growth rate is down to 1.46 (Yesterday was 1.54)

Case details

Of the 9,420 new cases, 7,071 cases are tested positive through ART of which 7,042 are local and 29 are imported.

2,349 cases were confirmed after testing with PCR with 2,153 local cases and 196 imported cases.

MOH reported 4 death cases bringing to death toll to 897.

Other data:

There are currently 1,272 patients in the hospital with 162 of them requiring oxygen and 24 are in the ICU.

93% of Singapore’s population has completed the vaccination program.

63% of Singapore’s population has received booster shots.

Statistics

In total Singapore has recorded 469,495 COVID-19 cases from the start of the coronavirus.

The death toll is 897.

In the last 28 days, there were 167,004 amount of cases with 99.7% of them with no or mild symptoms, 0.3% required oxygen supplementation, 0.05% is in the ICU, 0.03% died.

Foreign workers who are gardeners tending to the plants in a condominium were seen scolded by a private hire driver.

A resident at the condominium sends Singapore Uncensored a video of the incident.

The incident happened at 10 Martaban Road, Ecoville 328668 at around 11.26 AM today morning (Feb 13).

The car plate number SXX8928C (The first two letters are unclear)

The man kept shouting like a mad dog until we as Singaporeans has trouble understanding what he said.

The only words that were intelligible were “U are F-ing understand, mai ga lim bei guai lan. f ur mother ccb.”

The angry driver left his vehicle only to return moments after as he felt that there is not enough drama.

POLICE WARN OF FAKE SINGAPORE POWER EMAIL

With the number of active scams out there, the authorities will always be posting information to remind and warn members of the public on the latest scams.

The Sengkang Neighbourhood Police Centre, recently posted on Facebook a warning of a scam email that uses the logo of the SP group.

The links in the email leak to a website where victims are instructed to key in private information such as credit card number, expiry and CVV code.

Scam Alert – Phishing scam involving Singapore Power.Information was received that there is a non-banking related phishing scam featuring Singapore Power.

Scammers will approach victims via email to inform them of a refund being issued. Victims would then be led to a phishing website to key in personal information such as name, email address, date of birth and credit/debit card information.

– Do not click on any dubious link from an unsolicited source.

– Always check the URLs and confirm the authenticity of the website.

– CVV is used for purchases and not for refunds.

The Thai Health authorities have informed couples to wear a mask while having intercourse on Valentine’s day.

The authorities fear that the event might further increase the number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The department recommended wearing face masks and avoiding facing your partner while doing it and taking a quick antigen test the night before to ensure that they don’t spread the virus to each other.

‘Covid isn’t a sexually transmitted disease, but catching Covid is possible through close-contact breathing and exchanging of saliva,’ Bureau of Reproductive Health director Bunyarit Sukrat said on Friday.

The health Director added that couples should use positions that do not face each other.

Thai residents said:

Thailand residents have called this absurd and urged authorities to move on as an endemic and treat it like regular cough and fever as it will never end.

Valentine day a significant day to couples in Thailand where many choose to get married on that day.

A video emerged online showing two grown men fighting with each other at the side of an unspecified road.

They were seen attempting to throw punches clumsily at each other (which missed) and one of the men then pushed the other man in white onto the ground.

The man in white then fell onto the ground and remained lying down while he reflected on the decisions that he made that led up to that very moment.

He was seen slowly getting back up while his opponent waited patiently at the side for him to get back onto his feet.

The two men then stood about 2 metres apart from each other, presumably in the spirit of social distancing, before a staring contest then ensued.

The next cut of the video showed a couple of policemen arriving at the scene and trying to deescalate the situation.

The man in white was seen waving his hands at the other man and trying to get at him, while one of the police officers then tried to stop him by holding onto him.

Meanwhile, a Foodpanda rider and a couple of foreign workers were also seen at the scene without context and were probably collecting their Foodpanda order, completely unrelated to the fight that happened and I don’t know why I’m even writing about it.

But overall, I’d rate the fight a 10/10 for entertainment and 0/10 for the value that it has added to my life.

Potential penalties

According to Chapter 224 of the Penal Code, anyone who disturbs public peace by fighting in public is guilty of committing an affray.

Upon conviction, offenders could face a jail term of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

According to Chapter 321 of the Penal Code, anyone who performs an act that causes hurt to a person is guilty of Voluntarily Causing Hurt.

Upon conviction, offenders could face a jail term of up to 3 years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

WILD BOAR SPOTTED IN BUKIT PANJANG LOOKING FOR FOOD

Footage of a wild boar is circulating on Whatsapp and netizens said that the animal has been roaming in the area between Block 474 and 482 Segar Road in Bukit Panjang.

A child was shouting in the background which might be unsafe, imagine the wild boar started charging towards the children who are playing at the playground or elderly at the fitness corner.

Many residents in the area noticed the animal and kept a distance with many of them taking a video of the wild animal.

The wild boar seems to ignore the humans around him and carries on looking for food.

What to do when you encounter wild boars

Stay calm, move slowly away. Do not feed the animal as it might follow you and it is illegal to do so.

Keep a distance, do not use flash when filming as it might startle the animal

If you see a mother boar with piglets, stay even further as they might take your presence as a threat.

A video emerged online showing a confrontation between the driver of a red Mercedes and a delivery man.

The incident purportedly happened on 11 February at about 4.39pm, under a shelter at Block 7 Boon Keng Road.

The netizen who took the video, shared it onto Facebook and said:

“No CLASS driving a continental vehicle over a small matter that the delivery man crates of boxes touch the expensive red car! Need an old man on bicycle to separate such a Din even to the extent having his bicycle toppled! His expletives though fluent, is too excessive from a non Chinese guy. Happened 11 Feb 22, 1639hrs. Blk 7, Boon Keng Road (SIC)“

I have no idea what the netizen was trying to say but an educated attempt at understanding the context would be that the delivery man was delivering a crate of goods and the crates had apparently “touched” the Mercedes.

This accidental contact then got under the skin of the Mercedes driver and a confrontation then ensured between both men.

An elderly man who was cycling past then tried to intervene and deescalate the situation and even had his bicycle toppled onto the ground in the process.

The sound quality of the netizen’s video was excruciatingly poor so the only words that I could make out from the argument were a myriad of Hokkien vulgarities and the phrase “f— you lah” being utilised.

The Mercedes driver was seen later in the video getting back into his car and driving away, after showing off his colourful collection of Hokkien expletives.

  • Please don’t jump to conclusion so fast. I experience 1 delivery guy hit my car with his trolley, when I get down the car 1st thing he do is F me instead of apologise. In this case might be the same too. Thats why the car owner get angry, we are not them. So we just watch and keep quiet better. Don’t judge just because of what car he drive, doesn’t matter the car is half loan,full loan or fully paid, its not related to the incident.

A man tried his luck at breaking a pawn shop’s glass window after watching videos online. He attempted to break into the shop on several occasions but failed to break in each time. But the CCTV managed to capture his actions.

Zaobao reported that he was eventually jailed for 5 months.

What happened

Su Bing Liang, an unemployed man who is staying in a rental realised that he was penniless and he went out for a walk and arrived at Boon Keng MRT where he saw a Maxi-Cash branch. He noticed that a large gold chain was on display with a price tag of over $10,000 and he got the greedy idea to steal it.

He went home and started researching how to break in glass cabinets on Youtube and returned a few days later on October 2 but he did not do it.

On October 4 he went to the pawnshop again a 3 AM but took a look and left without trying.

The next day, October 5, he finally was ready to do it, he covered his face with a cap and went to the pawnshop at 3 AM and tried to break the glass cabinet with a hammer after confirming that no one was there.

Even smashing the glass panel 4 times the glass did not break and only a small crack appear, he continued his attempt by hitting the glass panel with his elbows and knees and finally gave up.

How he got caught

The next day, an employee of Maxi-Cash noticed that there was a crack in the glass and contacted the Police. The Police reviewed the CCTV footage and arrested him in less than 12 hours.

S’PORE RECEIVES FIRST BATCH OF PFIZER’S “PAXLOVID” COVID-19 PILLS

Singapore’s Minister of Health Ong ye Kung said yesterday that the first batch of the antiviral oral pill Paxlovid by Pfizer, has arrived in Singapore – the first batch arrived in Singapore on 11 February.

It is the first oral anti-viral medicine that is used for the treatment of Covid-19 Infections, and it has also been approved by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA).

Ong said in his Facebook post that the pill will be prioritised for persons who are at a higher risk of severe Covid-19 illnesses.

The drug is used to treat mild to moderate Covid-19 in adult patients who face a high risk of getting severe disease from the infection, and is aimed at reducing the risk of death.

it has to be taken twice a day for 5 days, and should be prescribed ASAP within 5 days of the Covid-19 symptoms showing.

HSA said that after reviewing the clinical date, they found that the pills could reduce hospitalisation and deaths related to Covid-19 by about 88.9%, if it is given within 3 days from the symptoms showing.

“The first batch of Paxlovid has arrived on our shores this week.

This is the first oral anti-viral medicine approved for treatment of COVID-19 infection in #Singapore. It will be prescribed and prioritised for those at higher risk of severe COVID-19 illness.

With more treatment options, we are now in a better position to provide good care to Singaporeans infected with COVID-19.”

Pfizer Singapore’s statment

Pfizer Singapore also released a statement on their Facebook on 11 February, saying:

“Last week, the Health Sciences Authority granted Interim Authorisation for Paxlovidâ„¢, the first oral tablet approved in Singapore for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in adult patients who are at high risk of progression to severe disease, to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death.

Working at lightspeed, Pfizer was proud to receive the first shipment of Paxlovid to Singapore today.

Erika Pagani, Country Manager for Pfizer Singapore said, “Effective prevention and treatments are needed to fight this pandemic. We are honored to work with the Ministry of Health, Singapore toward achieving our shared goal of addressing this public health crisis.”
