SENGKANG RESIDENT TOLD TO REMOVE CHINESE RITUAL ITEMS AND DIGITAL LOCK

Sengkang Town Council informed resident to remove digital gate lock and even chinese ritual items???

Hi everyone, l would like to share my personal encounter with the newly minted Sengkang Town Council since its inception from last year.

1. For coming almost to 6 months, l was unable to apply permit for my CCTV since it expired in March due to the amended by-laws were not ready under the new Town Council.

2. And when the much awaited by-laws under the new Town Council were ready, however, l was then being told that neighbour dispute does not qualify one for the installation of CCTV at all.

3. This is notwithstanding all the supporting documents (i.e. police reports and court letters) submitted to them.

4. I was then being issued with the 1st letter claiming that l had “excessive number” of CCTV units installed, CCTV was found be facing neighbouring units and the prolonged situation arising from using the CCTV. (Take note that this certified letter was not even signed for coming officially from the Town Council itself)

5. And the positioning of the CCTV talking about here was actually endorsed and approved by the previous Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council itself!

6. Then l clarified with them. And came the 2nd reminder which now claimed there was only one CCTV which does not have its permit approved by them and l may apply for a permit if l wish to in which l had previously done so but was rejected???

7. Then now came the final warning letter by the Town Council.

8. On top and over of the removal of CCTV previously required, now l have to remove my digital gate lock and even including chinese ritual items which l used to practice my own faith and religion under the amended by-laws of Sengkang Town Council as stated in the letter.

9. And the reason given for the former was that the digital gate lock was found to be with camera capabilities (???) and both the incense stick holder (including bagua mirror) are deemed as fire and safety hazard for the latter (???).

10. However, the same Town Council that kept on slapping me with their by-laws seem do not have any issues with the similar items mentioned aboveplaced at other units within the same block and including the nearby blocks as l observed.

11. And l am also facing lot of difficulties in reaching out to this new minted Town Council as well as to the MPs which including writing in to them as they were found unresponsive.

12. I have moved in here for coming to almost 10 years since the BTO was completed and l did not have much issues with the town council in-charge as in contrast with now.

13. And the general surroundings of the estate have also declined in terms of up keeping with the cleanliness of public areas, maintenance of greenery and the living environment at large for residents.

14. At the end of the day, is that the newly minted Sengkang Town Council here to serve the need of the residents or acting more of an enforcement agency as seen over here.

15. So for the rest of the residents living in Sengkang, please do not be alarmed if one day you are being told to remove all your items outside your unit (even including religious items), having valid permit for video doorbell, digital lock etc. with no room for discussion let alone speaking of appeal from the newly minted Sengkang Town Council as seen here.

16. Please help to share the above to create awareness and thank you please! From a baffled and confused residentMinistry of National Development Ministry of Culture, Community and YouthMinistry of Home AffairsSengkang Town CouncilSengkang GRC
