According to Health Minister Ong Ye Kung, there are trucks going around the neighbourhood to spread the message of vaccination to seniors.
He is seeking understanding as the trucks are promoting vaccination to elderlys who do not read the newspaper or use social media.
In his Facebook post he said:
If you see a #IGotMyShot publicity truck in your neighbourhood, this means that a Mobile Vaccination Team is just around the corner.
I know it may disturb some residents, but I seek your understanding. The trucks will spread the message of vaccination, to seniors who may not read the papers, use social media or talk to friends and family members very much.
Do help to persuade seniors you know to come down and take their COVID-19 jabs. It is their best protection from severe illness if they get infected.
To our elderly, the trucks are a hark back to the kampung days. At that time, we had publicity trucks plying the neighbourhoods to raise awareness on key government programmes. For example, the mass vaccination for smallpox in 1959. It was a hard won battle.
However, this comes with some rules that require certain sector’s of unvaccinated staff to undergo ART kit test twice a week.
In a Facebook post, MOH said:
“Unvaccinated persons will be required to undergo regular testing to pick up possible infections early so that they can be treated early. This will also mitigate risk of transmission to their colleagues and the public.
This “vaccinate or regular test” regime will be introduced in the following settings:
Those working in the healthcare sector, eldercare sector and settings with children 12 years and below.
Individuals working in sectors that interact with customers in higher-risk mask-off settings, and at our borders or COVID-19 frontline work such as F&B establishments, gyms and fitness studios, and personal care services.
The Public Service will take the lead in introducing this requirement for public officers, including the uniformed services.
The requirement will take effect from 1 October 2021. Beyond that, any unvaccinated persons from the above sectors will have to be tested with an ART kit twice a week.
Sambal Sotong is a favourite of many and people normally won’t mind paying slightly more for a meal
However, a man who packed a box of Sambal Sotong Rice was disappointed, he was charged SGD$6.30 for the takeaway but there were only 3 pieces of Sotong in that whole box of rice.
Here is what the man said:
“Tis is wat i m paying for a $6 Sambal sotong frm En Tan! See any sotong?? Yap.. wat u see is wat u get! Tat pathetic piece of sotong! Jurong fishery r open.. n u r selling tis to ur customers! Haish.. “
Yesterday, the COVID-19 task force announced the new dine-in rules but it requires a person to prove to the employee of the restaurant that he or she is vaccinated.
In response to media questions: Lawrence Wong said that once one can use their mobile phone the TraceTogether app will display the vaccination status of the individual.
However, in the comments section of Facebook, one man stated that a person could be using the mobile phone of another to “bluff” the service staff.
One can only imagine when an F&B staff is receiving customers at a busy restaurant, the staff would most likely take a quick glimpse of the vaccination status.
Other netizens even stated that a friend could take a screenshot and send it to others and showed it quickly to the F&B staff and distract the staff with some questions after showing the picture.
