8 LOCAL CASES, NURSE WORKING AT REN CI INFECTED

Many Singaporeans were hoping that today we can have 0 local cases as the end of circuit breaker is right around the corner.

Singapore Total cases reached 29,364 on 20th May 2020.

The ideal situation to end the circuit breaker is having 0 local transmission cases for 14 days straight before(June 1st) reopening any activities, but unfortunately, this is not the strategy Singapore is using.

Highest community cases in the past few days

Among these are two Singaporeans and permanent residents and the other 6 are work pass and work permit holders.

Yesterday( May 19) we had 1 community cases and the day before (May 18) we had 2 community cases.

Nurse infected

It can be quite worrying that an essential worker is infected as they commute to work daily.

Case 29069 is a 30-year-old female Filipino national who is a Singapore Work Pass holder and has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 19 May and is currently warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.

She is employed as a nurse at Ren Ci Community Hospital but had not gone to work since onset of symptoms.

842 Discharged

842 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 11,207 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

11 in critical condition

There are currently 954 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 11 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 17,181 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19. 22 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.

YISHUN HDB CAUGHT FIRE, 80 RESIDENTS EVACUATED

According to a SCDF FB post, a fire broke out in a HDB unit located at Block 502A Yishun St 51. The fire was caused by an overheated Power-Assisted Bicycle (PAB), On the day of the incident, an off duty SCDF officer helped to put out the fire with a water hose before the arrival of the SCDF.

A total of 80 residents were evacuated in the process and 3 were sent to Singapore General Hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation.

At about 4.50am today, SCDF responded to a fire at a 7th floor unit of Block 502A Yishun St 51.

The fire involved the contents of the living room. A neighbour extinguished the fire using a hose reel prior to SCDF’s arrival. The neighbour is WO Nasiruddin, an off-duty SCDF officer.

SCDF paramedics assessed three of the affected unit’s occupants and conveyed them to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation. About 80 residents self-evacuated from the block.

Preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire indicates that it was of electrical origin from a Power-Assisted Bicycle (PAB) battery that was charging at the time of the fire.

19 YEAR OLD SLAPPED WITH 24 MONTHS PROBATIONS FOR CHEATING

According to the media release, A 19-year-old young mother was slapped with a 24 months probations and 80 hours of community service for her involvement in cheating cases.

Nur Atiena Mohamed Asidi, 19, was involved in 5 cheating cases which involved a total sum of $580. She had imposed as a Carousell seller selling face mask. When her victims show their interest in purchasing the product, she will inform them that the mask will be delivered on a later date and collect a deposit from the victims.

In one occasion, she had even asked her victim to transfer money to another online seller for her own purchase. She had explained that the money she obtained from cheating was largely used to buy milk powder and diapers for her infant daughter.

The Judge had ordered her to go through counselling.

According to the law, anyone convicted of cheating may be jailed for up to 10 years and fine.

AT LEAST FEW MONTHS AFTER CB TO DINE-IN AND DRINK IN BARS AND CLUBS

In a press release by the multi-task agency, Minister Gan Kim Yong and Minister Lawrence Wong address the nation that there will three phases of different activities before Singapore can resume our social lives.

Phase 1 (Starts from June 2, will take at least 4 weeks)

  • Some business reopen
  • Household can have 2 visitors a day but both visitors must be from the same household
  • Pri 6, Sec 4 and Sec 5 students return to school, other students will alternate between going school and home learning
  • Pre-schools will open 100% on the 10 June
  • Marriage solemnisation can take place with a maximum capacity of 10 people

Phase 2 (Gradually open in a few months)

  • Dine-in at F&B outlets, retail shops, gym, tuition centres
  • all students will return to school for classes
  • reopen of gyms and other sports facilities

Phase 3 (Start when there is a vaccine)

Social events religious events, business events to open but with limited participant size

Minister Gan Said:

Phase 1: to open carefully, cautiously and safely this will take a few weeks for us to put in place these measures. This may comprise several steps is not a single step, it involves several steps of measures to put in place and some of these restrictions may be rolled back over.

It may involve months, may take several months before we are able to complete phase 2 and at the end of these two we will arrive at phase 3, which is a safe Singapore safe Nation

Singaporeans will be disappointed, many have been hoping that with the end of the circuit breaker they will be able to go out socializing with your friends to meet their families and relatives and even dine together, unfortunately, all of these activities will have to wait and I hope everyone understands why this is necessary

UNNATURAL DEATH AT KRANJI DORMITORY

 According to the media release, A 27-year-old Bangladeshi national migrant worker was found dead at a dormitory located at 31 Kranji Crescent. The man was declared dead on the scene by SCDF paramedics on the 15 May 2020.

The deceased works for Kiat Lee Landscape & Building who managed the dormitory. The Ministry of Manpower had contacted the family of the deceased to send the body back to his home country.

This is the second case of death relating to migrant workers in Singapore within 3 weeks.

According the Ministry Of Health, the death of the deceased was not due to illness but more likely due to injuries from a fall from height.

MULTIPLE PEOPLE CAUGHT ATTENDING FUNERAL AT CLEMENTI

According to a Facebook post published by NEA, someone took photos of a funeral and reported it to the authorities.

NEA has published an update and also mentioned the guidelines for attending the funeral.

“We are aware of photos of multiple guests attending a funeral wake at the void deck of an HDB block at Clementi.”

“Under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, every individual must stay at his or her ordinary place of residence in Singapore unless otherwise specified, during the circuit breaker period. Attendance at cremations, burial services, and funeral wakes, are permitted during this period but the attendance at such events shall be kept to 10 persons or fewer, and limited to family members as far as possible. This applies to the foot procession send-off as well. Funeral directors are to ensure that families comply with the measures. Everyone needs to take these measures seriously and co-operate to work together to protect ourselves, our family and friends, and the people around us.”

“The authorities have conducted their checks and have warned the family and the Funeral Director to abide by the measures. We will monitor the wake closely to ensure compliance, and will follow up with any infringement of the COVID-19 regulations.”

19 YEAR OLD DUO ARRESTED FOR E-COMMERCE SCAMMING

According to the media release, A 19-year-old man and woman were arrested for their involvement for e-commerce scams.

According to the victims, the duo had engaged in a festive season promotion on carousel selling gold jewellery at a discounted price. However, after the victims made the bank transfer the seller went missing in action.

The police work with Carousell and managed to identify the seller. The duo was arrested on the 19 May 2020. The initial investigation revealed that the duo was involved in 40 scam cases involving $5,000.

The investigation is ongoing.

MAN DRIVES OVER 192KM/H, FRIEND TOOK VIDEO PUT ONLINE

The best joke in the world is when people do something illegal and post it online and get themselves in trouble. This is like level 999 Einstein.

“Best way to end the night y’all, I give him 20/10”.

We will rephrase it as “Best way to get your friend to spend the night in lockup”

EX DBS VP ACCUSES SINGAPOREANS OF XENOPHOBIA

I think many would remember Avijit Das Patnaik, the DBSS VP, who posted a photo showing a T-shirt, with a picture of a Singapore flag being torn, revealing an Indian flag underneath.

Due to this issue, he was subsequently terminated by DBS. Now he has posted an article on his linkedin profile stating that singaporeans are practicing racism and xenophobia.

He stated that the reporting of covid-19 cases as foreigners vs locals/prs is clearly xenophobic. He ends the post with a hashtag #RacismBeginswithSingapore as well.

S’POREAN TROLLS “SUGAR MUMMY” SCAMMER FOR 3 HOURS

It is extremely common to come across Instagram accounts advertising for “Wealthy sugar mummy” services. Basically, these “sugar mummies” will pay you up to $7,000 a week just buy accompanying them for meals or sleeping with them. One Singaporean, Alvin Heng decided to contact the number.

Here is the sequence of events that followed.

Amos was informed to provide details of himself such as age, profession, marital status, etc. And the scammer even sent him various pictures of women to choose from.

Amos was asked to provide a picture of himself which he did provide. But the picture was of a famous Chinese blogger.

Upon choosing a woman, he was informed to make an initial payment of $400 so that he could meet the sugar mummy of his choice in a hotel.

He scammer even sent a video of someone giving an honest review of the scammer’s service.

Amos then decided to send a bunch of dick pics that he found online.

Amos then proceeded to send a fake receipt proving that he transferred the money. The scammer became pissed and stated “Why you send fake receipt here, you send me a fake receipt???”

The scammer realised that he was throll and the then blocked Amos on Whatsapp.
