As of yesterday, there were 529 cases of dengue fever in the week dated 12 May to 16 May, which is a significantly a much higher number compared to the average of 300 to 400 cases per week in the first quarter this year.

According to the National Environment Agency, we are currently entering the peak period for dengue fever. This is due to the hot and humid weather which will accelerate the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes. The authorities have called on the public to take respective safety measures.

In the first four months of 2020, authorities conducted about 310,000 inspections and found more than 6,400 breeding sites for mosquitoes.

The authorities have also issued 31 fines and two suspension orders against construction sites in the first four months of this year. Two contractors will be charged in court for consecutive offenses.

CASHIER AT BUZZ TIONG BAHRU PLAZA REFUSE TO WEAR MASK PROPERLY

Netizen submitted the following:

The sacrifice of the nurses, doctors and front line staffs will be in vain due to this type of stubborn, selfish, inconsiderate people.

This Sovereign Buzz store cashier opposite Tiong Bahru Plaza EVERYDAY did not wear mask.

He is also very smart one. When Safety Distance Ambassador asks him to wear mask, he will obediently put on. Then when he saw they leave he immediately just pull down the mask to his chin.

I also observed he purposely did not cover his nose with the mask and only cover till the mouth part if he needs to move outside of the cashier counter to tidy up those snacks or newspaper outside the counter.

Reported to the useless One Service rubbish apps several times also no use.

I suspect no specific Distance Officer to follow up so every time a different officer give him warning he just lip service ok ok lip service and avoid the $300 fine.

Circuit Offender offenders will be fined $300.

CHINA CONFIRM USA ACCUSATIONS OF DESTROYING CORONA SAMPLES

A senior Chinese official confirmed recently that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s allegation that Beijing had told labs in the country to destroy coronavirus samples but slammed his characterization as misleading.

China only acknowledged that it instructed unauthorized laboratories to destroy samples of the novel coronavirus – but the reason was for ā€œbiosafety reasons.ā€

Pompeo has continuously attacked the Chinese Communist Party for attempting to cover up the extent of the outbreak, which has so far killed more than 88,000 people in the US alone.

An official with the Chinese National Health Commission said on Friday that the samples were destroyed in line with public health laws and to ā€œprevent the risk to laboratory biological safety.ā€ He further insisted that this was not done to cover up or hide samples from other countries.

ā€œThe Chinese Communist Party tried to suppress information about this virus, about where it began, about how it started, about how it was being transmitted from human to human, indeed employed the World Health Organization to further that storyline,ā€ Pompeo told Christian radio program Focus on the Family, earlier this week.

A video shared by Facebook user Shun shows four men exercising on the roof of a multi story carparkĀ at Block 120A Lorong 2 Toa Payoh.

They can be seen exercising together without taking any safe distancing measures. I believe the exercises that they are doing can easily be done alone in the confines of their own home.

Is there really a need to meet up with all your friends to exercise especially during this current pandemic?
