FREE UMBRELLA SHARING SCHEME @ SEMBAWANG ! WAH NOT BAD LEH!

0

The road is wide, there will be heavy vehicles, so any covered link way will need to be minimum 4.5m high, which means rain will still come in. It will cost millions to build a link way that may not even be effective in providing shelter. This is the problem infrastructure planners faced across Singapore.

In Sembawang, we did an experiment a few weeks ago. We left umbrellas on each side of the road, and invited residents to take them for shelter and return on the other side of the road.

Alas! A few hours after its launch, all the umbrellas were gone. I think some residents thought a product promotion was going on.

Our community volunteers topped up the umbrellas, and stationed themselves at the crossing, and explained to residents how the program works.

And an amazing thing happened. Residents started to contribute their umbrellas. I took four from home and contributed too.

With a variety of colors, residents now instinctively know these are for sharing.

Two days ago, when it was raining, I stood quietly at the road side and saw residents carrying the umbrellas to and fro, putting them back onto the racks.

One volunteer saw a young man gazing curiously at the umbrella and asking ‘where’s the QR code?’ The volunteer explained it’s a free umbrella sharing scheme.

There is a spirit of sharing and cooperative in our communities. I will monitor the scheme further, before expanding to other parts of my constituency.

9 YEAR OLD BATAM SUFFERING FROM SERIOUS CANCEROUS TUMOR! PLEASE HELP!

Hi everyone,

Jesty is a 9-year old girl from Indonesia Batam, suffering from a serious cancerous tumor.

Due to the severity of her condition, the local hospital in Batam wasn’t able to treat, so she was transferred to Singapore KK Hospital on 06 August.

The doctor in KK Hospital brief the parents that there will be complications to Jesty’s conditions if she’s unable to operate soon, and since the parents are from Indonesia Batam, they will not have any medical subsidies, of which the bill is expected to go up to $250,000. Her cancer cells has been slowly spreading up to her lungs, and if it’s not treated immediately, she may not be able to make it.

The family are all average income household earners, and what’s most important for them is the life of their daughter.

They have tried all ways to raise funds but the amount are limited, so they have no choice but to seek help from the general public for their assistance.

Jesty is only a young girl and she has a bright future ahead of her, the parents are hoping to raise enough money for her to proceed with her operation.

All funds raised here will goes towards paying the medical fees incurred for Jesty’s KK Hospital stay in Singapore, which GIVE.asia will pay direct to the hospital from the fund raised.

Thank you for your kind heart and soul to help Jesty, and let’s help her to pull through this ordeal.

The donation link is below.

PARENTS TAKE NOTE: IF YOUR CHILDREN USE THIS APP MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE SAFE!

To our FB friends;

Today we went through something that I feel needs to be shared. Our daughter has an app that she has been using with some friends and family members that went from fun, to making me furious. The name of this app is called musical.ly.

First I want to say how proud of our daughter I am and want this to be a warning to your families. Instead of saying the words, let me show you; see below…

Please, tell your kids to let you know if anyone ever asks something like this, let them know it’s okay to tell you. It has helped us in this situation.

If your wondering if we called the police, yes and they have the phone to pull all of the information to track this person down.

Please feel free to share if you think it can help others….

I know many will blame us parents for this happening. But we never thought like predators and I guess we were naive in thinking that our daughter was safe on what we thought to be a kid-friendly app. We have learned the hard way. I ask that you not judge us (many still will) but let our experience teach us all.

Update: The detective has found the IP address of this person and has submitted a supeona to this app to freeze all records pertaining to this person (s). They are continuing to make progress!

To the people who wonder why a 7-year-old has access to this;

Our daughter does not have a phone of her own. This app was on one of our phones for use when we were around. She used this app to connect with her cousins and make goofy duets of songs together. We have accepted friends of theirs and our daughter believed this was another one. I never thought of someone pretending to be 9 to gain access to my child. We live and learn and I continue to do so every day as a parent.

This post is meant as a warning call to others that let their children use this app. This post wasn’t meant for people telling me how to raise my child. My child came and told me and it didn’t get any further luckily. She followed what I taught her. I’m sure that others families aren’t so lucky. The world we live in needs focus on these types of things, say what you will.

To those who have went through this as we have or worse, I stand with you! let’s fight these b@stards together and give our children their safety back.

MANY PROBLEMS PLAGUING M’SIA AS HOST AS SEA GAMES 2017? MALAYSIA BOLEH?

What a shame! This is all the bad things Malaysia has done for SEA Games 2017 in their country – The worst SEA Games ever!

1. No driver for Myanmar women team to return to hotel after beating Malaysia women team 5-0, and departure to hotel is delayed till 23:40 PM.

2. No bus for Thai futsal, U22 Vietnam to go to training venue. They also use wrong venue for Thai futsal team. Open the stadium too late for U22 Vietnam, U22 Indonesia… make them don’t have more time to train or they must wait before the match. Thai futsal team must use their money and taxi.

3. Ultras Malaysia insult Singapore at Shah Alam stadium, they chants ‘Singapore is dOg’

4. Malaysian police suggested to led Vietnamese women’s goalkeeper to the stadium. Finally, he led her around her…hotel. It takes 15 minutes before the match between VIE & PHI

5. No tickets for Myanmar fans, they said the tickets were sold out, finally, the stadium was empty and Myanmar fans had to watch their team from outside the stadium.

6. Media: Update the result too late, sometimes, they just update when their team win gold medal

7. Only 28/38 sports will be live on youtube. Important sports such as volleyball, futsal, women’s football will not be broadcast. This also is the first time since 2000 that a football match can’t be broadcast (Myanmar vs Laos, Brunei vs Myanmar).
Media groups from countries such as Myanmar, Thailand and Indonesia… must come to stadium and filming

Updating… LOL, only 2 days. What the hell are you doing, Malaysia?
