**Seeking for adopters & fosterers to ensure cat is safe & sound!**
This a whole report of what happened and why we decided to call the Police. It was a really grave situation and it was the best idea to contact.
We were really thankful for the two policemen that came down to help us.
Huge thanks to everyone who was there to witness the whole event and protecting the cat from getting transported to AVS.
What do you think happens when nobody is watching?
Why are protocols in place when people don’t even follow them?
According to Cat Welfare Society, Town council is supposed to contact mediators of CWS via email whenever there is a complaint lodged by residents. CWS would then be able to step in and solve the problem.
For example, the Town council correspondent a certain part of Tampines that I am in contact with follows these protocols by contacting relevant organisations such as CWS. Whenever a problem arises, she would inform CWS and CWS volunteers would assist in solving it. She is the most efficient and responsible TC manager I have ever met.
In contrast, the town council of 8xx did not follow these protocol + did not pick up urgent call about the incident- which led to today’s Saga.
The whole of Town council needs to be more consistent in handling cat complaints and working with the correct organisations whenever such issues arise.
SUMMARY OF THE WHOLE EVENT
1. 2 foreign cleaning executives under Town Council were carrying a cat in a cat trap and was witnessed by a lady.
2. Cat was placed in the rubbish chute area before I came.
The eyewitness asked them where they were bringing the cat to and they responded “someone” would collect the cat soon. (Should be AVS)
3. I approached the cleaning executive as a Cat Welfare Society volunteer to check if it’s a home or community cat
– I was denied entry as the TC officer told the cleaning executive not to allow me to do anything.
– Meowing could be heard from rubbish chute area. – Eyewitnesses and myself was afraid that the cat was in the yellow rubbish mince machine since the cat sounded like it was in pain.
4. The Tampines Town Council was called and my line cut 4 times while they were redirecting me to the relevant department.
5. Under the advice of CWS, the police was called
6. While the cleaning executive was away, it was confirmed by eyewitnesses that the trapped cat was in the room (As shown in the video)
7. The CWS mediator arrived and the cleaning executive denied her entry to check the well-being of cat despite the fact that she is the official CWS representative.
8. Through the phone, the TC officer in charge told the mediator that a resident had passed the cat to the cleaning executive.
9. The police came. The TC officer told a different story that the TC had trapped the cat because as a resident REQUESTED to remove the cat.
10. The police questioned the Town Counil as they were not following standard protocols regarding cat complaints.
11. The police requested for the cat to be passed to the CWS representative.
We are currently finding the owner of the cat, feeders or any information about the cat. Please message me if you have any details.
Cat was under great trauamtic stress and breathing really hard.
Did u think about what would happen to the cat? Trapped in a rubbish chute?
Many ways it could be put to death?
It was in a smelly rubbish chute area trapped in a rusty metal cat trap.
It was injured from pawing so hard at the rusty metal cage.
************ACTIONS TO TAKE*************
1. Can everyone please help to convince Town council/ any organisatikn to have better protocols regarding cat issues? To handle every single cat issue like it the cat is a child in need?
– Any ideas please list in the comments
2. Convince the PAP/government to treat cats better?
– Any ideas on how to convince them? To be more empathetic citizens?
3. People please stop abandoning and roaming your cats for “freedom” as well?
THIS IS WHAT’S HAPPENING TO YOUR CATS.
4. For people who have cat issues like defeacation and peeing or anything else. Please contact CWS instead of contacting TC. https://www.catwelfare.org/contact/
*** Please contact me if you are willing to adopt the cat!!!
We need a big change for these voiceless animals
Whether it is Cat, dog, rabbit, hamster or even exotic animals.
