Govt will be spending more to improve public transport standard.
During the budget debate, Khaw Boon Wan point out that the investments they are making to improve our transport system are huge. Currently, Transport ministry budget is the second largest right after Defence Ministry.
“Over the next five years, we will provide subsidies of about $5 billion for public bus services and $4 billion to renew our rail operating assets,” Mr Khaw said. “Another $20 billion will be invested in infrastructure to further expand the public transport network.”
As a result of the investment, service standards will improve.

At least two batches of rockmelons imported from Austrailia were part of a deadly outbreak of human listeriosis.
AVA reported that the batch of rockmelons was sold in Sheng Siong and wet markets. AVA has worked with importers, sheng siong etc. To remove the remaining unsold rockmelons.
“The recall has been completed. There has been no further import of rockmelons from the affected grower since, and import has been suspended,” AVA said in a press release.
Listeriosis is a type of bacterial infection found in soil, water and faeces.
A woman was knocked down by a car at a pedestrian traffic light.

The Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of 11-year-old Nur Alesya Ahmad Ilzam who was last seen at the vicinity of Yishun Avenue 4 on 4 March 2018 at about 5.30pm.
