WOMAN GANG-RAPED BY BROTHER-IN-LAW & 4 OTHERS, POLICE HUNTING DOWN SUSPECTS

0

In a harrowing incident that shook Malaysia, a woman fell victim to a brutal gang rape on August 30th, around 3:30 am inside her own home, she was assaulted by her brother-in-law and 4 other men who broke into her home and tied her up, and they even used their phones to record the whole thing, according to China Press.

The Malaysian police have since released photos and information of the brother-in-law in an appeal to the public for information as the manhunt begins.

The Nightmarish Assault

On 30 August at about 3.30am, five men forcibly entered the victim’s house located in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur (KL). It was during the early hours of the morning when the victim was fast asleep.

Upon gaining entry, the assailants wasted no time and immediately immobilized the victim, tying her hands and gagging her with tape. The nightmare escalated as they subjected her to a horrific gang rape, all the while callously recording the entire ordeal on their mobile phones.

Once the brutal gang rape had finished, the victim then called the police for help at about 4.25am, about 1 hour after her ordeal began.

The Mastermind Within the Family

What makes this horrific incident even more shocking is the identity of the mastermind behind the assault. One of the perpetrators was revealed to be none other than the victim’s brother-in-law.

In the aftermath of this heinous crime, the Malaysian police launched a relentless manhunt for the lead suspect, identified as 29-year-old Muhammad Nuraffiq Bin Jaafar. He is believed to be the mastermind of the gang rape, with four others, believed to be his friends, participating in the assault.

The authorities have released a photograph of the lead suspect, appealing to the public for any information regarding his whereabouts.

An Appeal to the Public

The police are urging members of the public to come forward with any relevant information that can assist in locating the suspects. Inspector Siti Fadzilah Ahmad Fisal, the investigating officer, can be reached at 017-6240252. Alternatively, concerned citizens can contact the KL police hotline at 03-21159999 or visit any nearby police station.

A Victim in Recovery

As the investigation intensifies and the search for the perpetrators continues, the victim is undergoing necessary medical treatment in a hospital.

0

Singapore President-elect Tharman Shanmugaratnam is set to be officially inaugurated as the 9th President of Singapore on Thursday 14 September at the Istana, according to the Prime Minister’s Office earlier today (2 September).

The former Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (2011 to 2023), former Deputy Prime Minister (2011 to 2019) and former Minister of Finance (2007 to 2015) claimed a landslide victory in the presidential elections, garnering 1,746,427 or 70.4% of the votes, compared to runner-up ex-GIC Chief Investment Officer Ng Kok Song’s 390,041 or 15.72% of the votes.

Former NTUC Income CEO Tan Kin Lian finished in last place with 344,292 or 13.88% of the votes.

A Victory by Landslide

Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s victory can be aptly described as a landslide. His 70.40% vote share is not only impressive; it’s also the largest ever recorded in a presidential election in this nation’s history. But what does this landslide victory mean, and how did he manage to secure such a substantial portion of the votes?

Factors Behind the Landslide Win

Several factors contributed to Mr. Tharman’s overwhelming support:

1. Strong Leadership: Mr. Tharman’s reputation as a capable and experienced leader resonated with voters. His track record in various government roles showcased his commitment to public service.

2. Economic Expertise: As a seasoned economist, Mr. Tharman’s economic policies and insights struck a chord with citizens concerned about the nation’s financial stability and prosperity.

The scale of Mr. Tharman’s victory carries significant implications for the nation. It sends a clear message about the direction that voters want the country to take. His mandate is substantial, and the expectations on his shoulders are equally weighty.

WIFE ASKS HUSBAND IF SHE BECAME FAT, FEARLESS HUSBAND SAYS “YES”

0

A netizen shared how his wife, who is 22 weeks pregnant and gained a lot of weight, asked him if she had gotten fat, and he then told her “yes”.

Here is the story:

“Here’s something for you youngsters:

My wife is 22 weeks pregnant and gained a lot of weight. She said she doesn’t feel attractive anymore, and I said she looks more beautiful now than ever before.

She said don’t bluff her and just tell her the truth… So I told her yes, she got fat, but she’s still beautiful. And then said it’s perfectly normal to gain weight while pregnant.

She started crying and stormed off to the bedroom…

Now what’s a life lesson you can derive from this?”

Netizens’ comments

  • Don’t take it to heart, she’s just feeling very emotionally vulnerable with changes to her body, hormones and all. Do pay more attention to her, be more attentive and show her more affection, it will tide over.
The real nightmare is inside the tummy once it’s out say bye bye to good night sleep for at least a year, good luck!
  • Action speaks louder than words. Give her more affection to assure her. Kisses hugs and making out will build her confidence and keep praising her when you does that.
Text her frequently when you are away. Tell her you miss her and can’t wait to see her after work. Hug her when you sleep and hold her hands even on bed. Be sticky like a small child and keep hugging her hand or body.
  • She is just more emotional because of pregnancy hormones. Pay more attention, be more affectionate to her to keep her happy. Happy mummy equal happy baby next time too. Congrats on your little bundle of joy coming soon!

RED MOON APPEARS IN THE SKY OF S’PORE, SO RED THAT IT LOOKS LIKE BLOOD

0

On September 1, 2023, just one day after the mesmerizing Blue Moon supermoon, Singaporeans were treated to another breathtaking celestial event—a vivid red moon. This stunning phenomenon captured the attention of sky enthusiasts across the island, who eagerly shared their photos on social media.

However, it’s crucial not to confuse this captivating red moon with the well-known blood moon.

The Distinction: Red Moon vs. Blood Moon

Before we explore the captivating hues of the Sep. 1 red moon, it’s essential to clarify the key difference between a red moon and a blood moon. A blood moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse, when the moon finds itself within the darkest part of Earth’s shadow, known as the umbra. During this eclipse, the moon takes on a reddish hue, giving rise to its dramatic name. NASA explains that this reddish appearance results from the scattering of sunlight through Earth’s atmosphere, which refracts the shorter blue wavelengths and allows the longer red wavelengths to dominate.

The Facebook user who posted the photos said:

1 Sep 2023 – 1 day after full moon. The super sturgeon bluemoon tonight is spectacular, even better than yesterday as it is visible lower in the horizon, which gave it this amazing red hue not seen in yesterday’s rising moon.

These few shots were taken between 8.51pm to 9.01pm, they show the evolution of the moon colours from shocking red (Red Bluemoon!) to golden in 10 mins!

8.51pm – it first appeared above the horizon, the globe first appeared red fuzzy and blurry.

8.52pm and 8.54pm – the moon became clearer and clearer, turning into blood red globe.

8.57pm – the moon started to lose its redness and turned orangey.

8.59pm – the moon is now a big golden globe.

9.01pm – the big golden moon on a wider frame, so beautiful.

Simply spectacular!

The Natural Color of the Moon

Contrary to the red moon’s vibrant appearance, the moon’s natural color is quite different. When its dusty surface is illuminated by the sun, the moon adopts an off-white, brown-grayish tone, as revealed by National Geographic.

The Role of Earth’s Atmosphere

So, why does the moon change its color to such striking shades like red? The answer lies in Earth’s atmosphere. When we view the moon through the layers of Earth’s atmosphere, which contain stratified and irregular gas layers, various colors become visible. This phenomenon occurs due to the scattering of light by tiny air molecules present in these atmospheric layers. Interestingly, blue light scatters more readily than red or orange light due to its shorter wavelength.

The Spectacle of Colors

The scattering of light and the unique structure of Earth’s atmosphere combine to create the spectacle of colors we witness when gazing at the moon. The red, orange, and yellow wavelengths of light are less scattered and are thus able to pass through the atmosphere with greater ease, reaching our eyes in all their glory.

The Sep. 1 Red Moon

In the case of the Sep. 1 red moon, its vibrant appearance was likely due to its proximity to the horizon. When the moon is near the horizon, it appears to pass through a larger portion of Earth’s atmosphere. This elongated path results in the scattering of shorter wavelengths and allows the longer wavelengths to dominate, giving the moon its fiery red hue. NASA’s explanation sheds light on this captivating occurrence.

Atmospheric Influences

It’s worth noting that various particles and conditions in Earth’s atmosphere can influence the path of light and, consequently, the moon’s color as perceived by the human eye. These atmospheric factors add an extra layer of complexity to the ever-changing palette of the night sky.

Conclusion

The red moon that graced Singapore’s night sky on September 1, 2023, was a visual treat for all who had the opportunity to witness it. This celestial spectacle, distinct from the renowned blood moon, was a result of the moon’s interaction with Earth’s atmosphere and its position near the horizon. As we continue to explore the wonders of the cosmos, such events remind us of the beauty and intricacy of our universe.

VIVIAN & SHANMUGAM PROCEED WITH SUING LEE HSIEN YANG FOR DEFAMATION @ HIGH COURT

0

Singapore’s Minister of Law and Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam; and Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, have reportedly filed a lawsuit against Lee Hsien Yang for defamation in the High Court.

Both ministers have previously responded publicly back in July, to “defamatory statements” made by Lee Hsien Yang and sent lawyers’ letters to him for accusing them of “acting corruptly and for personal gain by having Singapore Land Authority (“SLA”) give us preferential treatment by illegally felling trees without approval, and also having SLA pay for renovations to 26 and 31 Ridout Road”, which they said were “false”.

They asked him to apologise, withdraw his allegations and pay damages, failing which they will proceed to sue him.

A case conference for the impending lawsuit has since been set for 5 September, according to the hearing list reflected on Singapore’s judiciary website hearing list.

Senior counsel Davinder Singh from Davinder Singh Chambers will be representing both ministers in the lawsuit.

Recap

Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam and Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan have taken a decisive step against Lee Hsien Yang, accusing him of defamation. The dispute revolves around false allegations made by Mr. Lee concerning Ridout Road, which Lee has since been issued with a POFMA order.

Ministers Respond with Legal Action

On 27th July, Lee Hsien Yang received a POFMA (Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act) order for his Facebook post, which contained certain claims about Ridout Road. The ministers, Shanmugam and Balakrishnan, assert that the statements made by Mr. Lee are false and defamatory.

Mr. Lee accused the ministers of acting corruptly for personal gain by allegedly receiving preferential treatment from the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). According to him, the SLA allowed the ministers to fell trees illegally without proper approval and that the SLA paid for renovations the 26 and 31 Ridout Road properties rented by the ministers.

In response to these serious accusations, K Shanmugam and Vivian Balakrishnan decided to take legal action against Lee Hsien Yang. On 27th July, they sent lawyers’ letters to Mr. Lee, demanding an apology, withdrawal of the allegations, and payment of damages, which will be donated to charity. The ministers have asserted that the allegations are entirely false and damaging to their reputation and integrity.

Joint statement by K. Shanmugam and Vivian Balakrishnan

[Defamatory statements by Lee Hsien Yang]

Minister Shanmugam/Vivian and I have sent lawyers’ letters to Lee Hsien Yang for defaming us.

Lee Hsien Yang has accused us of acting corruptly and for personal gain by having Singapore Land Authority give us preferential treatment by illegally felling trees without approval, and also having the SLA pay for renovations to 26 and 31 Ridout Road. These allegations are false.

We have asked him to apologise, withdraw his allegations and pay damages, which we will donate to charity.

If he does not do so, we will sue him.

Trust in the PAP has been shattered.

PM Lee has recently said that “high standards of propriety and personal conduct, together with staying clean and incorrupt, are the fundamental reasons Singaporeans trust and respect the PAP.”

Trust has to be earned. It cannot simply be inherited. PM Lee Hsien Loong’s failure of leadership has squandered that trust.

Two ministers have leased state-owned mansions from the agency that one of them controls, felling trees and getting state-sponsored renovations. Two Temasek companies have committed serious corruption offences – Keppel and the former Sembcorp Marine. SPH Media, an entity being given almost a billion dollars of taxpayers monies, has fraudulently inflated its circulation numbers. A cabinet minister has been arrested for corruption. Yet again, the speaker of Parliament has resigned, over a scandal which the PM knew about for years but did not disclose.

Wei Ling and I stated in June 2017 that “We do not trust Lee Hsien Loong as a brother or as a leader.” These latest facts speak volumes. Hsien Loong’s regime does not deserve Singaporeans’ trust.

POFMA direction previously issued to Lee Hsien Yang

Issuance of Correction Direction under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act to Lee Hsien Yang

On 23 July 2023, Mr Lee Hsien Yang published a post on his Facebook page, which made untrue statements that:

a) The State paid for the renovations to 26 Ridout Road and 31 Ridout Road because the properties were leased by Ministers K Shanmugam and Vivian Balakrishnan.

b) Trees at 26 Ridout Road and 31 Ridout Road were allowed to be felled because the properties were leased by Ministers Shanmugam and Balakrishnan.

c) SPH Media Trust fraudulently inflated its circulation numbers.

The Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law Edwin Tong has instructed for a Correction Direction, under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA), to be issued to Mr Lee Hsien Yang. Mr Lee Hsien Yang will be required to carry the correction notice, stating that the Facebook post contains false statements of fact.

Clarifications on the False Statements

Firstly, Mr Lee Hsien Yang made an untrue statement that the State paid for the renovations to 26 Ridout Road and 31 Ridout Road because the properties were leased by Ministers Shanmugam and Balakrishnan. The identity of the tenants had no bearing on the decision on the works to be carried out on the properties. The post
omits important information that the works done were in keeping with the Singapore Land Authority’s (SLA) practice, and were assessed to be necessary in the circumstances, as explained by Second Minister for Law Edwin Tong in Parliament on 3 July 2023.

a) SLA invests a significant amount in maintaining conserved properties, which include 26 Ridout Road and 31 Ridout Road. SLA has spent similar, or even larger, amounts on other Black and White bungalows, consistent with conservation requirements (see Factually article in paragraph 6).

b) Most of the costs incurred for 26 Ridout Road and 31 Ridout Road were for works that external consultants had determined to be necessary, in light of the condition of the properties and to comply with the relevant conservation requirements. The remaining costs were incurred as part of the usual works done before the
commencement of a tenancy to ensure that the property is habitable.

Secondly, Mr Lee Hsien Yang made the statement that the trees at 26 Ridout Road and 31 Ridout Road were allowed to be felled because the properties were leased by Ministers Shanmugam and Balakrishnan. This is untrue. The identity of the tenants had no bearing on the felling of the trees at the properties. All decisions to fell trees with a girth size of more than one metre were made following inspections by independent arborists, and safety issues were identified. Where approval was required for any trees to be felled, such approval was obtained from the National Parks Board (NParks). The reasons for the felling of the trees at both properties have been explained by the Second Minister for Law Edwin Tong in Parliament on 3 July 2023.

Thirdly, Mr Lee Hsien Yang also made the statement that SPH Media Trust fraudulently inflated its circulation numbers. This is untrue. The overstatement of circulation numbers happened when the media business was under SPH Limited – a listed company. This was before SPH Media Trust was incorporated. When SPH Media Trust took over SPH Limited’s media business, it discovered, reported, and investigated the circulation issue. The Government’s funding agreement to build up public service media capabilities was signed with SPH Media Trust, and not SPH Limited. The funding quantum was based on SPH Media Trust’s transformation needs, and not the circulation numbers.

Publication of Correction Notice

As required by the Correction Direction, Mr Lee Hsien Yang must publish correction notice on the said post on his Facebook page. The correction notice will provide a link to the Factually article, which lays out the facts and clarifications on the matter, at the following link: https://www.gov.sg/article/factually250723.

4D NUMBERS 7040, 1388, 1572 SOLD OUT FOR BOTH SAT AND SUN

0

In a historic turn of events, Tharman Shanmugaratnam has emerged victorious in the 2023 presidential election in Singapore, securing a staggering 70.4 per cent of the votes. This resounding mandate from the people of Singapore has paved the way for him to become the ninth president of this dynamic nation. This article delves into the details of this significant political triumph and the implications it holds for Singapore’s future.

A Landslide Victory

Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s victory was nothing short of a landslide. With a remarkable 70.4 per cent of the votes, he not only secured the majority but also garnered widespread support from the electorate. This substantial mandate underscores the trust and confidence that the citizens of Singapore have placed in him.

The Competitors

In the race for the presidency, Tharman Shanmugaratnam faced two formidable opponents, Ng Kok Song and Tan Kin Lian. While they put up a spirited fight, they were unable to match the overwhelming support enjoyed by Tharman. Ng Kok Song secured 15.72 per cent of the votes, and Tan Kin Lian trailed with 13.88 per cent. Notably, there were 50,152 spoilt votes, indicating the intense interest and engagement of the electorate in this election.

4D Numbers Sold Out

The significance of Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s victory was further highlighted when, within just five minutes of the official election results being announced, Singapore Pools reported that the 4D numbers 7040 and 1388 had sold out for the Saturday, Sep. 2 draw. These numbers corresponded to Tharman’s and Tan Kin Lian’s respective vote shares.

Why Do 4D Numbers Sell Out?

Singapore Pools, the entity responsible for managing various forms of legal gambling in Singapore, is known to restrict the total amount of bets wagered on particular numbers as a way to mitigate its potential downside in the event those numbers appear as winning numbers. This practice aims to maintain the financial stability of the organization and prevent excessive payouts.

Common Occurrence

The rapid sell-out of 4D numbers following significant events or elections is a common phenomenon in Singapore. The allure of placing bets on numbers associated with prominent figures or events often leads to a surge in demand. In this case, the numbers 7040 and 1388, symbolizing Tharman’s and Tan Kin Lian’s vote shares, became sought-after choices among hopeful punters.

YET ANOTHER PARENT COMES OUT & CLAIMS CCK KINDERLAND TIED HER SON TO A CHAIR

0

Following the arrest of two teachers at Kinderland Singapore over the last week for allegedly ill-treating the toddlers under their care, more allegations of similar treatments have since emerged.

Another parent came out and accused Kinderland of tying children, including her son, to chairs using a belt in order to stop them from moving around.

She said that after she found out about the alleged incidents, she has since pulled out her child from Kinderland @ Sunshine Place.

Here is what she said

Hi, would share to share my story about Kinderland @ Sunshine Place after seeing a video about the Chinese teacher from the same outlet. But what I wanna bring up is the English teacher. Both of them were taking my son’s level class.

This happened to my son just this year April. I saw a school update on the school app and upon zooming into the picture, I saw something on his pants. There was another boy with a belt on his waist too.

Furious, I contacted the P to ask what is this. She said that it was because my son did not want to sit down for a group photo and was pushing the chair around. So the English teacher went to take a belt from the infant class to belt him down.

P said it’s the first time she’s hearing it and said the belt was only been used for 2 weeks on my son everytime during english class (she twisted her words after that when HQ questioned her and said it was used on 2 occasions). She even said my son like the belt whenever it was being used during the English class and laughed. Is that going to make me feel better? It’s so dangerous if he wants to come out of the chair and might fall flat on his face!

Thankfully I managed to pull him out by June. I did write in to their HQ and ECDA but it’s just the same PR answers sorry here and there and reassured the teachers mean no harm (look at whats happening now), and ECDA said they’ll investigate and case close alrd. Teacher is still there teaching, and has 3 kids herself. Seriously.

I managed to speak to another mummy, and apparently the belting has been going on at least since 2 years ago.

*EDIT: their teachers for other levels seems fine, infant care teachers are lovely and kind. It’s just unfortunate I had to chance upon this incident with Eng teacher at this outlet.*

*EDIT 2: the purpose of my post is to raise awareness on this outlet belting antics. Everybody has differing views, but I’m heartened to see most agree with me that belting kids their age is NOT right. It’s not a 3 or 5 point harness, its just a belt sling across them. It’s meant for infant use, it’s not meant to be placed on a toddler chair. The plastic chair is light, it’s not wooden and not sturdy. If they lean forward or wanna come out of the chair they might fall. Doesn’t matter if feet can touch floor anot, doesn’t matter if patients in hospitals get belted down and is normal (one of the lady’s comment – Tasya Mohd said, which I can’t find here anymore). Those are ADULTS, we’re talking about toddlers here.

Kids their age are curious, they wanna roam around, their attention span is short you can’t expect them to sit on the chair for long. Fact remains that the P, HQ, ECDA said it’s not right. I’m glad I was able to get in contact and bring attention especially to parents that was in the same class as my kid. They can make an informed decision whether to continue with kinderland or not, at least they’re not kept in the dark. Because most of them didn’t even know of this belting practice as the post was quickly taken down the school app when I called to question the P.

Will be closing this thread. Thank you for reading.

S’PORE DRIVER OPENS CAR BOOT TO POINT MIDDLE FINGER @ SIMEI, CAR VERY SPECIAL

0

Navigating the bustling streets of Singapore can be a stressful experience, especially during rush hours. The city’s traffic is notorious, and it’s not uncommon for drivers to display their frustration through vulgar gestures.

The Unexpected Gesture

In a TikTok video that gained attention on August 28, a black car with a notably large spoiler was spotted waiting at a traffic junction somewhere along Simei. As the vehicle behind it came to a halt, something peculiar happened—the car’s boot slowly and mysteriously opened on its own.

To the surprise of the trailing driver, the car’s owner then cheekily extended his middle finger at him before casually closing the boot, all without alighting from the car.

This unexpected and unconventional gesture caught the attention of not only the driver behind but also thousands of viewers on TikTok.

The video quickly garnered over 7,000 likes and more than 1,100 shares, leaving many amused and bewildered by this unique expression of “road rage”.

The ‘Best Feature’ for Tailgaters

In the video’s caption, the original poster (OP) humorously claimed that being able to perform such a gesture is the “best feature for those who love to tailgate.” and that it is one of the “biggest perks” of driving a fastback car—a vehicle with a roof that slopes downward to the rear.

This unique feature added an element of surprise to the situation and demonstrated the driver’s creative approach to handling road rage.

Responding to comments, the OP confirmed that the car in question was a Polestar 2, an electric vehicle produced by Volvo. The Polestar 2 is known for its high performance and competitive range.

The Unexpected Twist

An astute netizen raised a question: What if the car’s boot refused to close after such a gesture? The OP provided an answer by sharing a second video that depicted precisely that scenario.

As the driver opened the boot, it unexpectedly got stuck, leaving the driver red-faced. In a comedic twist, the driver had to exit the car to manually shut the boot, entirely ruining the moment of unconventional expression.

@justinswarley Replying to @oyjc1234 felt like the biggest fool 🤡 #tiktoksg #cartoksg ♬ الصوت الأصلي – فهد ابن الموصل

A Harmless Prank

For those puzzled by the initial video, the OP clarified that the driver of the Polestar 2 was, in fact, himself, and his friend was filming from the car behind. It wasn’t a genuine road rage incident but rather a lighthearted prank that unintentionally went viral.

WOMAN HAD PANIC ATTACK AFTER NOT DATING FOR A VERY LONG TIME

0

A lady shared a story of how she suffered a panic attack while out on a date after not going for one for the longest time.

This was because she was a single mother and was working a pandemic job and therefore spent most of her time and work or taking care of her child.

She added that she did not feel like this before and her date for that day had wasted $200 on dinner and movie for nothing much.

Here is the story

“This actually happened previously while I was trying to go on a date.

As the parent of an infant during a pandemic, you can imagine I don’t get much time away.

Between working in a relatively demanding role and being the primary caregiver to our son, I needed a date night.

Baby went to stay with his grandparents for the first time overnight and we purchased tickets to a movie and went to have dinner.

After dinner, we went to catch a movie in town.

Approximately 30 seconds after the lights dimmed in the cinema venue and the music started playing, I felt DOOM. My vision got blurry and I legitimately thought I was going to collapse out of my chair.

I motioned to my boyfriend to come with me quickly and we walked out of the theater.

I stumbled beside him because everything was blurry and I could barely breathe.

Once I was able to sit outside of the cinema for a few minutes, I realised I was experiencing a full blown panic attack.

We thought of going back in to try and enjoy the show, but as soon as the music started again, my panic ramped up.

We had to leave the venue after less than 5 minutes after spending over $200 for a night out.”

MAN WORKS HARD TO FIGHT FOR PROMOTION BUT BOOTLICKER COLLEAGUE GETS IT

0

I have been working as an accountant for the past five years. I have always been a hard worker and have put in extra hours to ensure that everything is done to the highest standards. For this reason, I was confident that I would be promoted to the next level in my company.

However, recently I was passed over for the promotion. My colleague, who had worked at the company for a shorter amount of time than I had, was promoted instead. I was shocked and angry when I heard the news. I had worked so hard and had expected to be rewarded for it.

Bootlick

After some investigation, I soon realised why I had been overlooked for the promotion. It turned out that my colleague was a bootlicker. He had been schmoozing with the higher-ups in the company and had been flattering them in order to get ahead. He had been telling them how great they were and how much he admired them. This had obviously worked in his favour and he had been rewarded with the promotion.

I was so angry that I had been overlooked for the promotion and that someone who had been bootlicking his way up the ladder had been preferred over me. I was determined to prove that I was the better candidate and that I deserved the promotion more than my colleague.

I decided to double my efforts and work even harder to prove that I was the right person for the job. I put in extra hours and made sure that everything I did was to the highest standards. I made sure that I was always punctual and that I never missed a deadline.

I also made sure to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and news. I read up on the latest developments in the field and made sure that I was always one step ahead of the competition. I made sure that I had a thorough understanding of the company’s products and services, as well as its competitors.

After a few months of hard work, I felt stupid.

I started to look for a new job and found another that was offering me 25% more salary, which is a very good deal considering the industry I am in.

After I submitted my resignation, the company wanted to counter offer me 26% more and I felt that it was kind of an insult and proceeded to quit.

Hard work is nothing if no one appreciates you.
