S’PORE MAN’S WARRANTY CLAIM FOR FAULTY SAMSUNG FLIP PHONE REJECTED, KENA $700 CHARGE

0

In the world of modern smartphones, Samsung’s ‘Flip’ and ‘Fold’ devices have made quite a splash. These foldable touch-screen phones are a modern reinterpretation of the mobile phones of the early 2000s.

However, a recent incident involving a Singaporean man has shed light on a peculiar warranty issue that has left many potential buyers perplexed.

A Dissatisfied Customer’s Tale

On the 14th of September, Mr. Thang took to the Complaint Singapore Facebook group to voice his grievances regarding his Samsung Fold/Flip phone.

He detailed how his phone had experienced a complete loss of Wi-Fi and speaker functions, rendering it essentially unusable in crucial aspects. Although other phone functions remained intact, these issues were a cause for concern.

With his device still well within the warranty period, Mr. Thang headed to the Samsung store at Causeway Point hoping to claim the warranty.

He believed that the warranty would cover the repairs, as it should for any manufacturing defects. However, he encountered an unexpected obstacle.

To his surprise, the Samsung staff at Causeway Point refused his warranty claim, pointing to what they described as “damaged” hinge. They asserted that the aesthetic damage to the phone’s hinge was responsible for the malfunctioning components.

Scratches vs. Damage

In his attempt to clarify the situation, Mr. Thang emphasized that the hinge merely had scratches, which did not hinder the phone’s folding and unfolding process.

Despite his arguments, the Samsung staff insisted that the hinge was indeed damaged and quoted a hefty fee of S$700 to replace it. Their explanation was that since all components were connected through the hinge, any damage to it was detrimental to the phone’s functions.

Mr. Thang, baffled by the staff’s stance, continued to argue that the hinge damage was purely cosmetic. He even tried to point out that his phone’s issues were unrelated to the condition of the hinge itself.

However, the staff remained resolute, citing the Samsung repair policy, which clearly stated that aesthetic damage voids the warranty for Fold/Flip models.

He even printed out the Samsung repair policy for the customer, highlighting how “aesthetic damage” does void the warranty.

Interestingly, Mr. Thang noticed that another customer was at the store with a similar issue concerning her Flip phone. This raised questions about whether this was a mere coincidence or a recurring problem faced by users of these foldable Samsung devices.

Having been a loyal Samsung customer since the Galaxy S2, Mr. Thang expressed profound disappointment with the company’s warranty policy.

He likened it to a lawyer exploiting “terms and conditions on a layman.” He went on to caution potential buyers to reconsider purchasing the Fold/Flip phones.

As a result of this disheartening encounter, Mr. Thang contemplated switching to other phone brands, signaling a potential loss for Samsung in terms of customer loyalty.

Here is what he said

[Feedback on Samsung Repair Policy for Fold/Flip]

Everybody should be made aware that one should never buy a Fold/Flip, unless you can be 100% sure not to damage the hinge.

Experienced intermittent loss of cellular network, complete loss of wifi and speaker/recorder functions 2 days ago. Note that all other functions, especially the screen, are working well.

Checked online that it is still within warranty and went down to Samsung Causeway Point yesterday to submit a claim.

To my horror, the service personnel told me that my warranty is voided as my hinge is “damaged”. While i told them the hinge is scratched and not damaged, since i can still open and close the Fold as usual, they termed it as “damaged” and quote $700+ for replacement of hinge.

I responded that from my symptoms, there will be no need to change the entire hinge. They then told me that the hinge is alike the “back spine” and it connects to all other components.

They followed by printing out their repair policy and pointed out that “aesthetics damage” does void warranty, ONLY for the Fold/Flip models. Well done Samsung Singapore .. showing me the warranty policy is alike a banker or lawyer slapping the terms and conditions on a layman.

Coincidentally, or perhaps because the repair rates are so high, there was another lady sending in her Flip for the same reason.

Hence, i reckon people should be made aware, DONT go buying the Fold/Flip when the manufacturer puts in such clause to protect themselves.

Or for those presently using this models, chop chop go get the hinge protectors. Its okay to not have screen protectors, but must have hinge protectors.

Been using Samsung since the Galaxy S2. But well… it may really be a good time to look beyond Samsung.

GIRL’S BF FLICKS HER MOUTH WHEN HE DOESN’T LIKE WHAT SHE’S SAYING

He used to flick me in the mouth when he didn’t like what I was saying

I felt like such a child and I hated it I don’t know why it stands out to me more than anything else he did.

One small thing would end up with him going way over the top and staring at me while I was stunned on the floor.

He used to laugh to himself and say things like “I can’t believe I ended up with someone who looks like you, I thought I had such higher standards”.

He would never laugh at anything I said or validate it even if he thought it was funny or agreed with me, I would have to say that somebody else said it to get any credibility.

If I was good at anything in front of anybody else he was outwardly demeaning and negative about it. If I had an opinion about anything that he couldn’t ‘outsmart’ or something he would lose his mind and we would have an argument over it. He lost it over me disagreeing that aliens came to Earth.

He was an extremely violent and dehumanizing person in so many ways yet him flicking me in the mouth is what I remember most and what I’m most embarrassed about.

I hate that as a woman I have to be afraid of how insanely likely it is that I will fall into a relationship like this again if I don’t stress about it enough to catch the signs of an oncoming predator.

I have no idea how to approach dating again because of how afraid I am of this kind of nonsense happening again. And I hate how resentful I am about that.

I hate that I feel bitter over being a woman because of how common this is. Not even like 1 in 10 type common, like being robbed or something, like 1 in every 3 men will hurt you and not care (or even notice).

If I overlook two or three behaviors I could be in serious danger and I hate that men just have no idea that this is a thing.

It’s always that “I didn’t do enough”, “I’m just naive” or “just don’t stand up for myself”. I just “let it happen”.

Not only do I have to face the humiliation of what I went through just by thinking about it and coming to terms with it having been real, but now I have to answer to whoever I end up with next.

Which means now I have to factor in trying to find someone who understands this. Not only does that make dating a meticulously exhausting process, but a cripplingly disappointing one.

I don’t know. This ended up more angry than I intended. I don’t know where else to get this out of my system, thanks for sitting through it if you did. Being a woman is such a scam.

LANCE STROLL CRASHES HIS CAR DURING F1 QUALIFYING RACE IN S’PORE, CAR BROKE INTO PIECES

0

Formula 1 (F1) has always been a thrilling sport, but it comes with its own set of risks. The exhilarating races around the world can sometimes take a dangerous turn, putting the safety of drivers on the line.

In a recent turn of events at the Singapore Grand Prix Qualifying race, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll faced a heart-stopping crash.

An Unsettling Moment

As the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix Qualifying race unfolded on September 16th, the tension in the air was palpable. Drivers were pushing their limits, striving to secure a spot in the next qualifying session. Lance Stroll, representing Aston Martin, was among them.

In the closing moments of the session, Stroll’s car veered off course as it grazed the curbs, sending it into a horrifying collision with the trackside barriers.

The impact was jarring, causing the car to disintegrate into pieces. Debris scattered across the track, and the front-left wheel of Stroll’s Aston Martin detached and rolled away.

The Collective Gasps

The sight of Stroll’s car breaking apart must have sent shivers down the spines of fans, teammates, and spectators alike. The crash forced another driver to take evasive action to avoid a collision. It was a moment of high tension and immense concern.

In the midst of the chaos and destruction, Stroll’s race engineer inquired about his condition. To everyone’s amazement, Stroll responded affirmatively. He was unharmed.

In an incredible display of composure, Lance Stroll emerged from the wreckage without any assistance. Despite the severity of the crash, he seemed practically unscathed. I guess you could say Stroll had “strolled” away from danger.

Following the crash, Stroll underwent a precautionary check-up at the medical center. Fortunately, he received a clean bill of health, allowing him to return to his team.

Will begin the main race from 20th position

Later, when speaking to the media, Stroll described the crash as “really bad.” He attributed it to a challenging out-lap with traffic, inadequate tire temperature, and a lack of grip during the session. In his quest to make up for lost time, he pushed too hard in the final corner, resulting in the unfortunate collision.

The crash had repercussions for Stroll’s qualifying performance. He finished in last place, failing to progress to the second qualifying session reserved for the top 15 drivers. Consequently, he will start the main race from the 20th position on Sunday.

Aston Martin’s updates

Lance crashed during qualifying of the Singapore GP. He got out of the car unaided and was taken to the medical centre for a precautionary assessment.

Lance was cleared by the on-site medical team and returned to the team at track. The AMF1 Team pay tribute to the ongoing work of the FIA and the safety measures of current F1 cars.

“I’m okay. When I saw my lap wasn’t improving, I pushed really hard in the last corner to try and make up that extra time, and that’s when it went wrong. Let’s see what we can salvage tomorrow in the race.”

JB CHECKPOINT SUUUUUPER CROWDED ON 15 SEPT, POLICE DEPLOYED TO MANAGE THE CHAOS

0

On the 15th of September, massive crowds of people and vehicles were seen trying to go through the Johor Bahru (JB) customs checkpoint, leading to the intervention of local police to manage the situation.

The influx of individuals and cars created a chaotic scene, leaving many to wonder what caused this unexpected congestion. This article delves into the details of the incident and explores the potential factors contributing to such long queues.

Unprecedented Congestion

On that evening, the Sultan Iskandar building in Johor Bahru became the epicenter of a crowded wave of people. Individuals and vehicles seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see.

Lines after lines of people were seen in several snaking queues leading towards the immigration hall of the checkpoint, and photos and videos of the situation were shared on social media platforms like Facebook.

A Call for Singapore’s Assistance

The incident occurred shortly after Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, urged Singapore to play its part in alleviating congestion on the Causeway. This appeal was made in response to the ongoing traffic issues, which have been a longstanding concern for both countries.

The situation at JB customs on the 15th of September only served to highlight the urgency of finding a solution.

The Facebook Chronicles

Images and videos of the congestion quickly spread across various Facebook pages, offering a glimpse into the severity of the situation.

The images showed countless individuals standing in seemingly endless queues that led to the immigration hall. Inside the hall itself, the crowd was equally overwhelming. Reports from that evening indicate that the congestion persisted for several hours.

One observer even noted the presence of police officers who were actively involved in crowd control. These officers periodically allowed groups of people to ascend to the second floor of the JB checkpoint building, ensuring that the situation remained relatively orderly.

Seeking Answers

In the wake of this incident, questions arose regarding the factors contributing to such a significant turnout. One theory proposed was the increasing number of Malaysians working in Singapore, who commute daily due to the rising rental prices in the city-state.

Additionally, congestion on the road leading to the checkpoint has become a recurring issue, especially on Fridays.

The frustration of the public was evident as one individual exclaimed, “Woiiii, what about the promised extra staff?”

Malaysia Day Public Holiday

As a side note, it’s worth mentioning that the 16th of September is celebrated as Malaysia Day, marking the country’s 60th anniversary of independence.

This public holiday may have contributed to the increased number of people traveling across the border, adding to the congestion.

STUDENT SAID HE CAN NOT CONTROL URGES, PAID TO LOSE HIS FIRST TIME

0

I’m just gonna start off by saying that under normal circumstances I wouldn’t have ever been this stupid. I was dumped from a first serious relationship recently, though there was the hope of getting back together after she wanted to meet up, turns out she just wanted to tell me I was friend-zoned and that she was looking for hookups on tinder cause I never gave it to her. Yes I’m still a V. So I have all of that on top of the normal school stress.

Today a girl I had messaged in the past and had seen posting on my schools social media pages messaged me. We had both posted on our school’s page. She messaged me saying hey cutie and stuff like that. Asked me where I was staying. I told her. She said she lives in the same area. I told her my address.

Eventually she gets to it. She wants a hookup. A paid one. I as a depressed dumbass agreed. She said it was 50 for a bj. I was hesitant at first but she was able to describe her hall pretty accurately. I told her I wanted to meet her in the lounge before I paid. She said that was a waste of her time for such a low price and didn’t feel safe doing that. She asked that I send a 25 dollar safety fee. I do. And then as you all know, I was blocked.

At first I thought she is scammer, but she turned up and there goes my first time.

I’m so scared and nervous. Not only have I proven without a shadow of a doubt that I’m a total idiot, but now there’s potentially someone on campus laughing at me for it too. I hate myself so much. I’ve never done something so stupid in my life.

I’m shaking now.

WHEN TOXIC RELATIONSHIP ESCALATES TO A BAD ENDING

0

Never thought I would let myself be caught in a toxic relationship. Only learnt what toxicity is, gaslighting and such after being in one myself. Glad to say I got out of it, not 100% but I am doing way better than the past few months. It hurts to let go of the relationship because of the sweet precious memories. But removing the rose tinted glasses, which I am trying to do now, will help me recognise all the underlying issues.

There are always the urge to bow down and beg for reconciliation, as I had done several times before. But now, it is time to face the issues and let them remind me of why leaving/letting the relationship go is the best for both of us. But honestly, it is never easy to just look at the issues and ignore the ‘what-if’s and ‘what could have been of us if we stayed’. Hence, appreciate if you guys could share any stories of toxic relationships and the recovery.

I have sought for support and help from the people around me but sometimes it is really difficult to hold back and waver again.

Here are what netizens think:

It feels like you’re codependent. It is very broad so try and read as much as you can. Also it feels like you naturally gravitate towards a certain personality.

This usually happens if you were in a similar surrounding for a long time and it’s what you’re used to. You’d be surprised how our subconscious mind work.

I’d suggest for u to list out all the characteristics of your exes that attracts you and the red flags. This is for you to recognize who and what they are. And so you could see a pattern you’ve formed.

Then write down characteristics you like in a person. Do that everyday until your brain changes it’s wiring.

Emotions are non-existent other than in our heads. I know it is hard to ignore them but try. Don’t let the what-ifs get to you. You’re not here to fix someone, you’re here to find that someone who is willing to be in the journey with you.

We are all imperfect, so find someone who is willing to walk this path with you and wants to work it out TOGETHER. Not one way.

Do not read the toxic relationships others share, you’re prob an over thinker and reading them will just feed into what I said earlier – being attracted to drama. Get rid of this from yourself.

  • Mine quite easy. No matter how much I love the guy, but once I realize I had been gaslighting, and is just a continuous vicious cycle, I just break up and the love just goes down. If a person can treat me so badly consistently, that one or two times sweetness cannot covers it. The only what ifs is, what if I can get married to a better man, what my life will be if my man super pampers me.

GUY TERRIFIED OF DYING, FEARS THERE WILL BE “NOTHING” AFTER DEATH

0

I’m terrified of dying.

To be more specific, I’m terrified of the potential of oblivion after death. I’m not a religious person, for a ton of reasons, but I like the idea of getting to spend eternity in heaven with loved ones.

The thought of just nothingness is scary to me y’all. I was on the verge of a panic attack today at work due to spiraling anxiety thoughts of just oblivion….nothingness.

I listened to random podcast episodes people talking about how they have had experiences with an afterlife after previously being major skeptics and non-believers in an afterlife and that helped a bit.

Idk y’all I’m 27 years old and I’m just….scared.

Just know any and all who have had the same unfortunate thought process have all of my love and support. We are scared, but we are scared together.

Netizens’ comments

  • I only fear death when I don’t welcome it. When everything is peachy and happy go lucky I fear it. When I’m down and everything seems to be going wrong I welcome it. It’s a vicious cycle.
  • It’s in our DNA to fear death, that’s where our survival instinct comes from. I am not religious but I have a hard to believing we are this complex for it just to evaporate when we pass but if that is the case it really won’t matter because we seize to exist. We would not know we are dead because there is nothing left to know but I believe our spirit lives on in another way that is bigger than this. We won’t know until the day comes so let’s try to make the best to of the time we have on this earth.

WOMAN SAYS HAVING HER CHILD WAS THE WORST DECISION OF HER LIFE

0

Deciding to have a child was the worst decision of my life
I’m a 29 yo married mother of one 1.5 year old son who I love but wish I didn’t have. I never wanted to have kids but my husband did. After he nudged me towards the idea of having kids for years mixed with my stupid biological clock freaking out that I’d be 30 soon, I made the decision to “just get it over with” and we got pregnant on one of the very first attempts just over two years ago.

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I was hit with a wave of dread. I kept pushing that feeling down and told my husband and then friends and family I was pregnant. Everyone was so excited I didn’t have the heart to terminate the pregnancy like every fiber of my being was begging me to.

I won’t go into the whole awful story but my pregnancy was a nightmare riddled with tons of complications. The newborn stage was even more brutal. The crying in the night gave me crippling postpartum anxiety that is now better but still lingers.

Soon after returning from leave, I lost my job due to the pandemic. It financially made more sense for me to stay at home for a bit instead of paying for daycare but I miss my old life so much. I had no real problems in hindsight. Sleeping through the night and then going to work and then coming home to just my husband, the dog and the TV seems like a lost paradise now. I was an idiot to give that life up.

There have been good days, even good weeks since then and I really love my son but I’m not enjoying or well suited for parenthood. I like quiet flexible days with adult conversation or the ability to focus on interesting topics or work projects uninterrupted. I do not enjoy a day filled with loud screaming, kids shows, and having to follow a strict schedule to keep my toddler from having a hangry meltdown.

I know this phase will end too and maybe I will enjoy motherhood once he is a bit bigger but right now it has thoroughly changed my life in a way that I do not appreciate or want. I got my tubes tied last year because I refuse to put myself through this again. I just wish I had enough courage to listen to my intuition and decided to leave my husband when it was clear he wanted kids and I didn’t.

WOMAN ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED BY CRAZY AUNTIE USING AN UMBRELLA

0

A Facebook user, Zalina Samad, shared how she was allegedly attacked by a woman in her 50s with an umbrella.

Here is what she said

Hello, I just want to share a bad experience that happened to me last night. It happened around 10 pm.

Me and my friends were walked out from J Cube to cross the road. Suddenly one Chinese woman aged around 40-50s, short hair, wearing a surgical blue mask beat me hard with her umbrella.

She shouted at me saying that “u bumped me why never say sorry?”.

I was shocked after being beaten and felt pain in my arm. I swear to God I never bump her! She keep shouting and repeating the same words and wanted to call the police.

I asked her to call the police because I knew I did not do anything wrong. The crazy old woman keep quiet and stared at me after I said that.

To avoid the incident getting worse my friend pull me and we left that crazy woman.

To old crazy woman, or anyone knows this woman please advise her to think before u act.

Don’t act stupid. Who do u think u are? Though I accidentally bumped u do u have any right to beat me?

What if u are the one who bumps other people? So other people can anyhow beat u?  U are so lucky I didn’t make a police report because I’m leaving SG soon. My arm was bruised and swelling because of your stupidity!

I was traumatized!! Jurong East people please be careful with this crazy woman!

I did not expect my farewell night become a nightmare.”
