PASIR RIS MIXED VEGE STALL: $10.20 FOR 3 VEGE 1 FISH, GO ROB BETTER

0

Kimly Mixed Rice stall @ Kimly coffeeshop

— Pasir Ris Drive 6, Blk 444

Dropped by stall operated by Kimly Group today, 21st FEB 2023 (TUE), to buy a packet of Cai Fan for dinner.

Added the following to plain rice:

• 1 slice of fish

• bok choy (小白菜)

• long beans

• tofu strips

Was charged $10.20!

I understand inflation is high & the 1% GST hike has kicked in. But $10.20 for 1 fish + 3 veggies????

That’s like Ion Orchard or Taka’s foodcourt prices!

Ohh, I forgot to mention: I found 1 tiny prawn (refer to pic)

After my initial disbelief, I returned to the stall to ask for a receipt. Guy I approached opened up packet & stared at food for some time before asking a colleague if I was charged correctly. This colleague then started shouting at the top of his lungs the breakdown at the very crowded coffeeshop. I promptly told him that I just wanted a receipt.

I’ve patronised this stall for awhile now & this is what I’ve discovered: I could be charged $5 on Day 1 & $9 the next day for ordering the same food.

It all depends on which guy is taking my order!

I also like to add that prices at coffeeshops/foodcourts/hawker centre in PASIR RIS is arguably the most expensive (if not the MOST expensive) among heartland neighbourhoods in SG. I can attest to that as I travel around our island on a constant basis due to the nature of my job.

Shame on Kimly & some of their staff.

Here are what netizens think:

  • Did not check the pricing when u are ordering? I guess the long beans fried with mince meat cos this will be charge under meat dishes ! Fish $4-$6 per slice is common lah especially if steam fish they have to get fresh ones daily if fried ones they get frozen fish will be cheaper
  • May want to check the price before ordering the fish. I usually do that to avoid heart attack…
  • Food at Punggol and pasir ris are expensive
  • sometime must check properly, I order 3 veg , end up owner told me 2 of the veg inside got minced meat so charge 2 meat 1 veg,

MAN DRAWS $3K PLUS A MTH, GIVES WIFE $300 & EXPECTS HER TO PAY FOR EVERY THING

0

Hi guys, does anyone know if divorce is possible if only one of the party wants it?

Context:

My parents have been married for more than 20 years, but their relationship is not ideal.

Here are some of the conditions in my family:

  • father works a full time job, drawing 3-4k every month but only pays my mother $300
  • he does not pay any utility bill, mother pays for his phone bill
  • used to gamble, not sure about now (always broke for some reason, despite the salary and not contributing much), even after inheriting $10k recently from my grandfather
  • always asking my mother for money (sometimes indirectly such as asking her to eat at different places, while expecting her to pay 100% of the time)
  • throws temper when he don’t get his way (if mother objects to dining out etc)
  • recently broke his phone and expects my mother to buy him a new one

For additional information, they have not shared the same room for about 10 years now.

Sick of how my mother puts up with his entitlement and suffers for him

I am tired of seeing my mother having to suffer with him, with his entitlement and lack of responsibility. While I agree that my mother spoilt him, his character was always this rotten even according to my relatives.

My mom is worried about divorcing because she is scared that my grandparents will be hurt, and that I will have an incomplete family, even though I don’t mind.

Can someone share an insight on the procedure? I’m pretty sure he will object to it, therefore I need to know if it is possible if it is one sided, and what will the aftermath be.

STRANGER WOMAN LIES ON MAN’S SHOULDER ON MRT, NETIZEN ASK THEM TO BTO

0

What to do if a woman rests her head on your shoulder while sleeping on the MRT?

Just wanted to know what was I to do because I wanted to minimise as much physical contact with her as possible (uk to avoid allegations of harassment or what not).

So I just got up and out of my seat leaving her to suddenly wake up after her head had nothing to rest onto anymore. Felt kind of bad to disturb a sleeping person like that but also feels wrong if a female rests her head on your shoulder like that…

Here are what netizens think

  • It happened to me last time. So what I did was, telling another female whom is awake and saw the whole situation and requesting her to exchange the seats with me. That way I avoided the potential of being called harassment even though its not my fault. In addition, the lady can sleep peacefully without much disturbance. Thankfully the lady whom I contacted with, willingly helped a bro out. Heng uh.
  • Start planning the wedding and think of where you want to BTO.

But fr, everyone is fighting their own battles and while it’s understandable you’d want to avoid any unnecessary issues about harressment and all that, you can just stay still or gently tap her on the shoulder to let her know. Pretty sure she’ll be more embarrassed than you.

End of the day, if you can choose, always choose to be kind.
  • Happened to me before, some student fell asleep onto my shoulder. I made sure to put my hands as far in front of me as possible so nobody can claim I am touching her. Then let her sleep until my stop.
  • I’m a woman but I think it’s kinda F’d up we’re living in a time now where if guys (or any person for that matter) just want to tap someone’s shoulder to get them to move, they face the risk of being reported. Meanwhile she gets to sleep on your shoulder and that’s “okay”

KIND GRAB DRIVER ACCEPTS RINGGIT AS PAYMENT FOR WOMAN WHO FORGOT TO BRING SGD

A video was recently uploaded on social media showing a lady making payment on the Grab that she was taking.

Paid uncle in ringgit as she did not have Singapore dollars

According to the video, the Grab fee was SGD 24 and the woman who recorded the video showed that she passed RM 100 (SGD 30.06) as payment to the uncle because she had forgotten to bring Singapore Dollars with her.

The uncle accepted the payment for the Grab fare in Ringgit out of goodwill and was seen trying to figure out how much change to give her.

However, the woman only asked the uncle for SGD 2 change back for her Grab fare and apologised to the uncle for causing him the inconvenience.

The uncle also explained to her that Grab cars do not have credit card terminals inside the car and said that only taxis have credit card terminals in them.

He also told her the location of the ATMs at her drop off point and urged her to go and withdraw some cash so that she could use it and not cause any inconvenience to herself

TIKO UNCLE ALLEGEDLY SPOTTED TAKING VIDEOS OF GIRL @ CLEMENTI MRT

A video was recently uploaded onto social media by a netizen who claimed that a uncle was secretly recording videos of girls at Clementi MRT on 9 March 2023 at around 9am.

The uncle was seen holding his phone near his face pretending to be on a call while walking a few rounds but was allegedly taking videos of girls at the station.

He then started his pretense by talking on the phone, probably realising that he was spotted by someone.

CLUB GETS RAIDED BY M’SIAN POLICE AFTER THAI GIRL SHOWS OFF RM500,000 FLOWER,

Previously photos of a Thai girl showing off photos of her receiving flower garlands in a Johor Thai disco went viral.

Bad publicity

The post got viral on all forms of social media and of course, it attracted the attention of local authorities. Photos and videos of the raid has been shared on social media and a number of netizens said “Show off some more la, now all go lock up eat cell food”

Stacks of Thailand passports on the stage

There are two kinds of publicity- good and bad. Obviously, the club drew the short end of the stick after the Thai DJ posted photos of her getting RM300k + RM200K = RM500,000 worth of flower garlands on stage.

A number of Thai girls detained

A whole lorry of them were detained by officers and they were escorted up a large police truck

1 min of fame before getting raided

A video of the incident was shared on the Siam Bu’s Facebook profile

Look at how proud and happy she is after receiving a disgusting amount of tips, It’s as if she is receiving an Oscar or Emmy award.

Oh Yeah, of course, an Emmy or Oscar for her excellent skills in casting as “Siam Bu GF, Love You Nong time, GF Effect”.

Why are men so willing to spend so much money for Thai girls in Thai discos?

Thai discos have long been known as a destination for men to meet and spend time with Thai girls. For many, the idea of spending large amounts of money to buy drinks, gifts, and other services from a Thai girl is a dream come true. Men are often willing to spend a lot of money for these experiences because of the perceived benefit.

First, many men are drawn to the experience of socializing and partying with a beautiful Thai girl. There is a certain allure that comes with spending time with someone who is exotic and different, and this can be a major draw. In addition, the chance to show off their wealth and status in the company of a Thai girl is a major draw for many men. The idea of being able to buy drinks and gifts for someone they care about is often a huge bonus.

Second, many men feel as though they are able to escape their normal lives for a few hours and let loose. The atmosphere of a Thai disco is often quite different from what many men are used to back home, and this can be a major draw for those looking for a change of pace.

M’SIAN ACTOR VICIOUSLY ATTACKED AT S’PORE EXPO, COLLAPSED & SENT TO HOSPITAL

0

Malaysian actor Kamal Adli was attacked by an armed man on Sunday (12 March) at the Singapore Expo, and sent to the hospital.

Adli was at the Hari Raya Mega Sale 2023 event at the Singapore Expo.

The unidentified assailant was armed with a weapon and assaulted Adli, resulting in the latter suffering injuries to his head that required stitches.

The New Straits Times reported that Adli’s wife, Uqasha Senrose, posted about the incident on her Instagram, saying that her husband was at a “special event” in Singapore when he got attacked.

The assailant is said to be a Singaporean man, who attacked Kamal with a weapon and hit him on his head, face, chest, back and below his eyes.

Senrose said that her husband’s head injury was bad and needed to be stitched up, and urged his fans and friends to pray for him.

A video of the aftermath of the alleged incident was posted on Instagram by fellow Malaysian actress Didie Alias, showing ADli sitting on a chair with a bandaged head.

Berita Harian reported that Adli suffered slashes to his head and bruises to his face and cheeks, and was rushed to Changi General Hospital for treatment.

Television host and singer Roslan Shah shared a few updates on Adli’s condition, saying that he had collapsed following the attack because of suspected brain damage.

The assailant had purportedly been following Adli around the event, and the latter had thought that the man was just a fan who wanted a photo.

The Singapore Police Force said that a 34-year-old man had been arrested and that investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.

GRAB DRIVER ATTACKED BY PRC PAX SAYS GRAB CARES MORE ABOUT PAX THAN DRIVERS

We recently shared a post by a Grab driver, Sirajuddin Sathar, who gave his account on how he was attacked by a PRC passenger who was riding on his Grab car on the morning of 8 March 2023 until he had blood wounds on his arm.

Recap

The Grab driver has now shared part two of his case on his Facebook account, detailing how Grab had not got back to him with an explanation from the PRC passenger.

He claims in his post that passengers are more important to Grab than Grab drivers.

The Grab driver also said that the Police had asked him to file magistrate court case against the PRC passenger if he wants to claim for his injuries from the passenger or wants any actions to be taken against the passenger.

According to the Grab driver, the Police report that he made could only be kept for recording purposes.

Here is what the Grab driver said (english written)

‘Part 2 of my case where I was attacked by a PRC woman on 8th march.

Grab has contacted me and said that they will get in touch with the rider for her explanation but till now there is no news, which I presume that no action was taken against the PRC passenger as riders are their bloodline and not us.

Secondly, the police report which I made is only for record purposes. The police had asked me to file a magistrate court case against the rider to claim injury or take action against the rider.

Moral of the story to me is that all PHV drivers are on their own if any mishap or injury occurs to them. Do not expect any 2 of these departments to be on your side, they want us to defend ourselves against attacks by riders. It is a lesson learnt, thanks for reading good luck for PHV drivers which has no benefits or future just hit the accelerator hard and keep moving on.’

EX-BF TRIED TO ‘PIAK’ ME FOR THE LAST TIME, ZAO WHEN MY DAD CAME TO WHACK HIM

0

I had been in a relationship with my ex-boyfriend for over six months and I thought it was the real deal. We had gotten so close, and I thought we were really in love.

But then, one day, he suddenly changed and started to become distant. He stopped talking to me and he would never answer my calls or texts. I was so confused, and I had no idea what was going on.

We decided to end things, I told him to come and take his belongings from my place

After a few weeks of this, I finally decided to confront him about it. I went over to his place, and he told me that he didn’t want to be with me anymore. He said that he had met someone else and he wanted to be with her.

I was heartbroken. I couldn’t believe he was leaving me like this, after all the time we had spent together. I was so angry, so hurt, and so confused. I didn’t know what to do.

We eventually agreed to meet up one last time so that he could take his belongings back. I thought this would be an opportunity for us to talk and maybe even work things out, but I was wrong.

He showed up to my place, and all I could think about was the fact that he was the one who broke my heart. I was so angry, and I wanted to tell him how much he had hurt me.

But before I could say anything, he tried to force himself on me. He tried to kiss me and he tried to take me to bed.

It was then that I realized that he just wanted to use me one last time. He had no intention of getting back together, and he was only interested in getting what he wanted.

I was so disgusted and appalled by his behavior, and I quickly pushed him away.

He ran away like a coward upon hearing that my dad was coming up to whack him

I told him that I was never going to let him do this to me, and that he had to leave. I told him that my father was coming up, and that he was going to beat him up if he didn’t leave right away.

He quickly ran off, and I never saw him again.

My ex-boyfriend had tried to take advantage of me one last time, and I was so thankful that I had the courage to stand up to him and make him leave.

I eventually moved on, but I still have nightmares about that day. It was a terrible experience, and it was one that I will never forget.

MAN SUED TTSH FOR $800K AFTER MUM DIED, LOSES & NOW HAVE TO PAY $756K INSTEAD

0

A Singaporean man, Chia Soo Kiang, filed a lawsuit against Tan Tock Seng Hospital and three doctors last August following the death of his mother, suing them for $800,000 in damages.

However, his case was dismissed by Justice Choo Han Teck in October last year, with the hospital and the three doctors found not guilty.

On Friday (10 March), Chia was ordered by the court to pay $756,000 along with other costs and expenses, with the judge said that this was partly because he had refused to settle for a “reasonable offer” that was previously offered to him by the defendants.

Ordered to pay $756k

Chia sued TTSH in August 2022 for $800,000 claiming that they were negligent in diagnosing his deceased mother, Tan Yaw Lan, ultimately causing her death back in 2018.

The case was dismissed by Justice Choo in October 2022, and both sides then entered a hearing over the costs and disbursements.

The defendants argued that they had offered Chia $15,000 to settle the case but were rejected, and as a result, Chia was ordered by the court to pay $756,000 to settle the costs of the trial after the lawsuit was dismissed.

The Judge notes that the amount was undoubtedly very high, but pointed out that had both parties gone for mediation, “a better idea of the merits of the case and the burden of costs may have been impressed upon them by the mediator, and we might have had a different outcome to this suit.”

On his decision, Justice Choo said “Costs are not meant to punish a failed civil action, but when a reasonable offer to settle was refused and the party refusing ended worse off than the terms offered, the other party should not have to bear the resulting costs that might have been saved.”

Background

A 74-year-old elderly woman, Madam Tan Yaw Lan, died 3 weeks after suffering a heart attack while she was hospitalised at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, (TTSH) on 13 May 2018.

The deceased’s son, 47-year-old Chia Soo Kiang, is suing the hospital and three doctors for negligence and seeking $800,000, alleging that they had multiple breaches during their duty of care.

The three doctors involved in this care are namely Dr Dorai Raj D. Appadorai, Dr Lee Wei Sheng and Dr Ranjana Acharaya.

Madam Tan, who had health problems which included diabetes, heart and kidney disease, and hypertension, suffered a heart attack while taking a shower, where she was assisted by a nursing intern.

The deceased was admitted into TTSH on 20 April 2018, following a visit to the emergency department with complaints of a fever ad lethargy.

She was initially diagnosed as having widespread sepsis, a heart attack, diabetes, anaemia and a deteriorating kidney.

The treatment plan for her was to start antibiotics medication and stop her medications for heart problems such as furosemide and losartan, as well as aspirin.

She was then referred to the cardiovascular medicine department of the hospital by Dr Lee, and her usual premixed insulin was then replaced with a “sliding scale” insulin, with the dose varying based on the blood glucose level.

The referral was then cancelled by Dr Ranjana.

The defendants said that Madam Tan’s aspirin medication had to be temporarily stopped because there is a risk of bleeding, with the doctors highlighting her drop in haemoglobin level and sepsis.

They also said that hospitalised patients being placed on sliding-scale insulin was common and usual.

They added that Madam Tan’s underlying cause for her heart attack was sepsis (the body’s life-threatening response to an infection) and that no specific treatment was required for her heart attack.

They also testified that the nursing intern, who was helping Madam Tan shower, had immediately called for help and a medical team attended to her and that there was no delay in the resuscitative efforts.

The defendants also argued that Dr Dorai Raj, who was on call on the night on 20 April, didn’t owe Madam tan a duty of care as he didn’t personally review her and was not consulted on her case.
