The AMS Ambulance had just been passing by the site of the accident and upon witnessing the incident, they quickly provided the necessary First Aid to the injured motorist who was purportedly knocked off his motorcycle by a vehicle and suffered injuries to his kneecap.

PARENTS DON’T LIKE DAUGHTER DATING GUY FROM SIM, SAYS THEY “NOT SMART” & DRINK A LOT

0

I am dating this guy from SIM, however my parents aren’t convinced that it will last between us..

I would probably rate myself higher then him as I am Smart (I am a scholar) ,I come from a well to do family eg (we can afford to go on at least one holiday per year)

Looks Wise I think I am okay, I get loads of looks and many guys have confessed to me…

However this guy is different.

The odd thing is this guy I feel can do way better than me, he is always thinking 10 steps ahead and he always talks about how to help others or come out with solutions to help people and businesses

He’s doing okay academically, he plans for a masters too ,and this makes me happy

However my parents think that he’s not smart because his from SIM and they harbor many stereotypes, eg he will drink a lot ,when in fact he doesn’t.

and they think he would cheat on me , funny when my mum already suspects my dad has cheated on her

Then there’s the “cheating” narrative. My mother is convinced that a guy like him—who she views as “academically inferior” but “street-smart”—must be a flight risk. She warns me that he will cheat the moment he finds someone “easier” to get along with. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, considering she spent last month crying to me about her suspicions that my father has been keeping a “second set of books” and a second life on his business trips.

How do I convince them that a degree scroll doesn’t define a man’s loyalty or his intellect? They are so blinded by the brand of the school that they can’t see the man who is already building a life they would actually admire if they just looked at his actions instead of his student ID.

I’m caught between the “Scholar” I’m supposed to be and the “Empath” I’m becoming because of him. I want to show them that while I might have the “unicorn” life they wanted for me, he is the one who actually understands the game we are all playing.

GIRL SAID SHE WAS ‘DISTURBED’ BY PONTIANAK @ CHALET OPP OLD CHANGI HOSPITAL

A Tiktok user, @savour365, recently posted a Tiktok reel claiming that she was disturbed by a ‘Pontianak’ for three consecutive nights while she was having a birthday celebration at a chalet opposite the infamous Old Changi Hospital (OCH).

A Pontianak is also known as a ‘female’ ghost in the form of a vampire known in Malaysian and Indonesian folklore and it is said to be the ghostly form of a woman who passed away while she is pregnant.

What happened

The Tiktoker claimed that the Pontianak started the disturbance of her family by first appearing in front of her sister and her parents.

‘It’ then started banging all the windows of the chalet they were residing in.

On the second night while they were having a BBQ, the ‘Pontianak’ appeared in front of the Tiktoker perched on the roof of the BBQ pit.

The Tiktoker described the look of the ‘Pontianak’ as animalistic with blood shot eyes.

On the third night of the chalet, in an attempt to stop the Pontianak from haunting them, the Tiktoker ‘blessed’ all the rooms before her friends headed over but that did not stop the hauntings.

The ‘Pontianak’ had decided to disturb them while they were playing Mario Kart by banging on the doors and one of them in the group was going to open the door but was stopped by the Tiktoker.

The knocking eventually grew louder and louder which made the Tiktoker had enough.

That was when she walked over to the door with her phone and played a ‘prayer’ at the loudest volume.

The Tiktoker then said that within a few seconds, all the knocking stopped and they played the ‘prayer’ on repeat for the rest of the night.

Avoided OCH after the incident

The Tiktoker said that after the haunting incident, she decided to avoid OCH at all costs and stopped visiting chalets for a period of time.

PM LEE – IF THINGS REMAIN STABLE, WE CAN REMOVE REMAINING COVID RESTRICTIONS

0

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong issued a new year message to Singaporeans on Saturday as the country ushered in 2023.

He summed up what happened over the last year and provided an optimistic outlook on the upcoming year, noteworthily stating that if “things remain stable, we can take the final steps to lift the remaining social restrictions, to establish post pandemic normalcy.”

PM Lee’s New Year Message

We have a lot to be thankful for in 2022. After battling COVID-19 for nearly three years, things are getting back to normal. We held our first full-scale National Day Parade since the pandemic. Singaporeans can again celebrate our festivals, and reunite with family and friends at home and abroad.

I made several overseas trips recently and was happy to see Changi Airport buzzing with life. Singaporeans are travelling once again. Singapore Airlines flights are full. Cabin crew are back from being care ambassadors and flying again. As we welcome visitors from around the world, our recovery is extending beyond the airport and airlines to the hotels, shops, F&B, and service sectors too.

We resumed hosting flagship international events, including the Shangri-La Dialogue and the Bloomberg New Economy Forum. And we heard the roar of the Singapore Grand Prix again, energising our city with the rush of exhilarating races and live performances, and sending a strong signal that Singapore is back in business.

Still, I strongly encourage everyone to keep your vaccinations current, and protect yourselves with the latest bivalent vaccines. We are watching the COVID-19 situation closely, particularly how the year-end travel season and the surge in cases in China may affect us. If despite these risks things remain stable, we can take the final steps to lift the remaining social restrictions, to establish post pandemic normalcy.

We would not have got here without the support and trust of Singaporeans, and the valiant efforts of our frontline workers. We have just announced the COVID-19 national awards list – including the newly created COVID-19 Resilience Medal – honouring all those who directly helped in this fight. In a crisis, they answered the call of duty and more. They stepped forward to protect us all, often at considerable risk and sacrifice to themselves and their families. When the situation improved, they toiled on behind the scenes so that the rest of us could return to normal lives. They represent the best of Singapore and deserve our deepest gratitude.

Our experience with COVID-19 has taught us valuable lessons for future crises. We will enhance our preparedness for future pandemics, as well as strengthen our healthcare system and community networks more broadly. We will push ahead with Healthier SG to mobilise GPs, who were invaluable during the pandemic, to partner Singaporeans to live longer and healthier. Healthier SG will emphasise preventive health, and improve the provision of care to Singaporeans, especially our elderly.

Providing healthcare and social services for a rapidly ageing population will require considerable resources. To help finance our growing healthcare budget, from 1 Jan 2023 the GST rate will go up by one percentage point. We are also implementing a comprehensive package to help households cope with cost of living pressures and cushion the effects of the GST hike, including utilities rebates and Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers. Over the last month, nearly three million Singaporeans received up to $700 in cash. More assistance is on the way in the new year. I thank everyone for contributing our fair shares to public revenues. This will help us greatly to take proper care of fellow Singaporeans, especially our more vulnerable seniors, both for today and for our children’s generation.

We are planning and building for Singapore’s future in many ways. Major projects are progressing. I spoke about Tuas Port and Changi Airport Terminal 5 at the National Day Rally. Recently, another 11 MRT stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) opened. When fully completed in 2025, the TEL will serve one million commuters daily, connecting residents in the East with the North-South corridor.

On housing, we have been working hard to catch up on construction delays caused by COVID-19. We are sparing no efforts to build more HDB flats, and keep public housing affordable and accessible for Singaporeans, especially couples starting families. Last month HDB launched close to 10,000 new flats, its largest ever single BTO offering. Next year HDB will launch another 23,000 new flats. We will maintain this high tempo to meet the strong demand for housing, and expect to build up to 100,000 new BTO flats from 2021 to 2025.

We have also made strides towards a more inclusive society. We announced policies to ensure that both genders are protected and treated equally, whether at home or at work. We are working with unions and employers to secure CPF contributions and work injury compensation for platform workers. The Enabling Masterplan 2030 will help persons with disabilities find jobs and live with dignity.

We repealed Section 377A of the Penal Code. This is a longstanding and difficult issue, with views strongly held on both sides. But I am heartened that Singaporeans have responded with restraint and supported our balanced approach – to decriminalise male homosexual acts, while protecting the definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman from being challenged in the courts.

The international outlook remains troubled. US-China tensions are likely to persist. How quickly China recovers from COVID-19 remains to be seen, while the US and EU may well enter recession. Our economy will be affected. MTI expects slower growth in 2023 – between 0.5 to 2.5 percent. We must brace ourselves for the uncertainties ahead.

In such testing times, we must above all stay united as one people. DPM Lawrence Wong and the 4G team have been busy with the Forward Singapore discussions, partnering Singaporeans to refresh our social compact and chart new directions forward. Many Singaporeans have gone beyond actively sharing their feedback and views, and stepped forward to volunteer in areas where they can contribute and partner with the Government. This collective sense of ownership and responsibility is crucial to renewing and strengthening our social compact. We look forward to the outcomes of the discussions, and to completing the exercise in the second half of next year.

Even the darkest of clouds have silver linings, but only for those bold enough to seize opportunities. We have weathered the pandemic safely and emerged stronger. Our COVID-19 response has enhanced our international standing. There is great interest in Singapore – many businesses and individuals want to set up shop here and in the region. We must seize the moment. Welcome promising investments and talents of all nationalities to Singapore, while building up our own skills and capabilities, venturing forth to chase our dreams in the region and the world. Together, we will build a brighter future for Singapore and all Singaporeans.

I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

MAN CLAIMS HE USED 17,000 POINTS TO WAIVE $34 GRAB FARE, BUT STILL CHARGED EXTRA

A Facebook user going by the alias of Dickens Cider, recently shared on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page that he was charged an extra $42.80 by Grab even after he had used 17,000 points to waive off his $34 JustGrab ride.

He was however informed by Grab that it is a ‘smart’ feature which will prompt Grab riders to accept other ride forms like Grab Premium in the case where there are lesser Grab drivers available on the road for the service type he wants but he claimed that he did not see the prompt.

He also claims that Grab has insisted that he had chose Grab Premium at the beginning and when he asked for a copy of the system log as a proof, Grab did not want to provide him the log.

He is insisting for a refund from Grab.

Here is what he said

‘Raising awareness against Grab.

I had chosen a JustGrab at $34 and redeemed 17,000 points to cover the ride. A ride was found within seconds and I had to rush out to the pick up point. After I’m home and check the receipt, I was charged an additional $42.80 on my card.

Grab’s customer service as well as its manager are telling me that this is a smart feature. When there are lesser driver on the road, you are prompted to accept if you want to include other forms of ride e.g. GrabPremium. I did NOT see that prompt. In addtion, I had asked for a copy of the system log as a proof. Grab refused to provide that to me.

Furthermore, Grab is telling me that there is no glitch and I had chosen GrabPremium from the beginning. Grab, please, if I had chosen GrabPremium at first, why did your “Super” app only exchanged 17,000 points for $34?
I want my refund of $42.80, Grab and I am not sorry for making this public.’

SHENG SIONG HAVING 1% OFF ALL IN-STORE PURCHASES UNTIL 31 MAR, TO COUNTER GST HIKE & INFLATION

0

Sheng Siong will be offering a 1% discount off “everything*” to counter inflation, with the promotion running until 31 March.

The 1% off applies to all in-store items at all their outlets, but it won’t apply for items such as alcohol, tobacco, lottery and baby milk powder.

Sheng Siong said on a Facebook post that this is “just a small gesture on our part to help you cope with inflation and the GST hike”.

NTUC FairPrice also offering discounts

NTUC FairPrice to offer discount to offset GST increase, allaying concerns on rising cost of living

Published on
04 November 2022
  • From 1 January 2023, FairPrice will offer discount to offset the additional increase in GST for 500 essential items for six months
  • The latest effort is one of several FairPrice initiatives intended to help customers moderate cost

Singapore, 4 November 2022 – Ahead of the implementation of Goods & Services Tax (GST) increase in Singapore, NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) has announced that it will be offering discount on 500 essential items for the first six months of 2023. This initiative will apply across all FairPrice supermarket retail formats, including FairPrice Online.

The basket of 500 key essential items is selected based on items that customers purchase frequently and serves the top-of-mind needs of customers. They comprise national brand and housebrand items such as fresh fruits, vegetables and meat, staples, dairy, paper products, detergents and household cleaners.

This announcement was preceded by a recent initiative FairPrice took to lower the prices of popular rice products despite cost pressures as rice-producing countries experienced a shift in outputs due to climate change. Earlier this year, FairPrice also took the lead to provide a 10 percent discount on four popular cooking oil products to address concerns on elevated oil prices, as well as providing a special discount for its Pasar fresh eggs (30s) in view of rising egg prices. By taking the lead in these initiatives, FairPrice plays a key role in benchmarking prices in the industry.

Some of the strategies in place by FairPrice include diversification of sources where food is sourced from over 100 countries around the world. This seeks to protect consumers from price fluctuations, as it avoids over-reliance on any one source. FairPrice also introduced a new Greater Value Every Day campaign to address concerns over the rising cost of living and provide greater value every day to consumers. This enhanced discount scheme includes a price freeze of 50 popular daily essential products every month, and up to 50 percent off for Price Drop Buy Now items. Beyond this, FairPrice also offers a large stable of over 2,000 housebrand items that are priced 10-15 percent cheaper compared to national branded items.

He bought some food and his total bill amounted to $7.20, and he opted for pay $7 of the bill with his NS55 credits and pay the remaining 20 cents in cash.

He shared that he was allegedly scolded and shouted at by the Old Chang Kee worker, who didn’t let him pay the remaining 20 cents in cash.

I went to old chang kee at Paya Lebar outlet on 23 December 22 at about 1.40 pm.

My total bills was $7.20, I opt to pay 7$ via NS55 credit & the balance $0.20 by cash, but I was scolded, yelled and scream by madam chua ( the worker of old chang kee)

RISE OF SCAMMERS PRETENDING TO BE BUYERS ON CAROUSELL, $938K LOST IN SCAMS

0

POLICE STATEMENT ON PHISHING SCAMS INVOLVING FAKE BUYERS ON CAROUSELL AND OVERSEAS PAYNOW TRANSFERS

The number of phishing scams involving fake buyers on Carousell continue to surge, with the number of reports in the month of December 2022 alone surpassing the number of reports in the first eleven months this year.

The scam works as follows: Scammers would pose as prospective buyers on Carousell, and in order to receive payment, victims (i.e. sellers) would be asked to key in their banking details on spoofed websites to facilitate payment. At least 975 victims, with reported losses amounting to at least $938,000, have fallen prey to this scam from January 2022 to November 2022.

However, since the beginning of December 2022, at least 1,115 victims had fallen prey to date, with total losses amounting to at least $1 million. Based on investigations, a significant proportion of the reports lodged involved unauthorised overseas PayNow transfers. This is a troubling trend, because once money is moved overseas, the chances of recovery are very slim.

To curb this scam surge, key partners in the ecosystem including Carousell and the Association of Banks in Singapore are implementing measures to protect their customers. These include but are not limited to adding friction into overseas PayNow transfers as the affected banks deem appropriate until this threat subsides.

Together, we can help stop scams and prevent our loved ones from falling prey to scams.

MAN’S NINJAVAN DELIVERY DIDN’T COME, ASKS “ARE THEY CALLED NINJAS BECAUSE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND”

0

Facebook user Andy Woo shared how he had a failed delivery by Ninja Van, and questioned if they are called ninjas because “they are nowhere to be found”.

Here is what he said

The horrible experience with Ninja Van Singapore. I have no idea why Singtel chooses to partner with them.

I had a failed delivery yesterday (31st December 2022). The customer service officer named “Harvyin” attended to me.

Harvyin confirmed with me that there is delivery services on the next day (1st January 2023) and he will re-assign the delivery for that date.

I woke up early since 9am on a holiday to prepare for the delivery but no one came even up till now (1st of January, 2.45pm as of now).

Are they called Ninjas because they are nowhere to be found during the delivery time ? If that is the case then very impressive

Anyway. Please engage their services at your own risk and help to share this post to create awareness. I have all the screenshots as evidence

Happy new year to all who read this post
