MAN TOOK LOAN OF $5K FROM SIBLINGS THEN NEVER RETURN, NOW WANTS ANOTHER $2K

0

Sibling asking for loan and his lifestyle choices are more expensive than mine

My brother asks me for loans occasionally. Ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand. He sometimes returns me the money and overall, still borrows.

Recently, the total loan added up to about 5k and he is not very consistent with repaying.

Now, he is asking for 2k again. I’m getting of tired of chasing for the unreturned amounts. I feel like I’m begging for my money, so I stopped. I will probably have to write off.

I’m not inclined to lend him this time. But I’m pissed that my mum feels I should help him since it’s not a big amount (“It’s just 2k”).

Hello! I have already lent him $$ and he makes a lot more expensive choices than me. Branded wallet, bag, watch, clothes, more frequent grab rides, holidays and cafes/restaurants than me.

Am I suppose to support his lifestyle choices? I have my goals too. I’m saving up for my own wedding and renovation. However, when his wedding is near, I’m sure he will ask my mum for a loan.

HAWKER SERVES $4 HOKKIEN MEE WITH SMALL PORTION, COMPLAINS EVERYTHING PRICE INCREASE

0

Facebook user Tristan Leong shared how his children went to Chomp Chomp and paid $4 for a plate of fried Hokkien mee.

The portion that they received was small, and the hawker was allegedly indirectly insulting them while complaining that the prices of everything has increased.

Here is what he said

Chomp Chomp – Fried Hokkien Mee

*No accusations but please make honest comment*

My children went to this stall 2weeks back at Chomp Chomp!

$4 Hokkien Mee was serve on the messy plate like this and the chilli n food portion. Ridiculous!

Plate is so messy and oily, stall guy is very rude! Portion is so unacceptable little, and the old man there keep claiming now gas increases, prawn and noodles cost increases, egg increases.. if ur costing so high then do adjustment but not serve such messy and few mouth little portion.

But this $4 for this plate, I bet no one will accept it!

My poor kid have to suck it up and eat while listening to that man in grey indirectly insulting. Saying 1 plate 2 person share!

My kid was going opposite for dinner while waiting for their queue, they drop by to have a plate of noodle with other stall bbq chicken to share.

Picture taken food untouch, this is how they serve them

Anyone here have more to share cause this is not the first time we encountered bad feedback from their stall from friends as well.

WOMAN’S RESTAURANT RESERVATION CANCELLED, WAITER: “WE RAN OUT OF FOOD”

0

Facebook user Estella Lye shared how she and her husband made a restaurant reservation and when they travelled all the way there, they were turned away.

They went in anyway and the waiter then told them that they were closed, saying that they “ran out of food”.

She said that their reservation was cancelled without any calls or notice to inform them, and they wasted their time to travel all the way down.

Here is what she said

Made a reservation at Three Peacocks new place at Marina One West Tower. When we arrived, there was a “CLOSED” handwritten sign at the door.

Confused but we went in anyway. The waiter then came and said, we’re closed. I said we have a reservation made. Then he said, oh, we ran out of food.

We didn’t receive any call to reject or cancel our reservation and wasted our time to travel there. Terrible. Reserve at your own risk.

Other bad reviews

  1. We booked seats for 16 pax at 8pm on 11/11/23, but received no news that it was closed and not opened.
Can you imagine a 16 group size frantically trying to find an alternative on the night of 11 Nov? With everyone travelling from different places.
Extremely irresponsible. And apparently it is only the following day that they text to inform us that it is close and offered a 20% discount.
Sadly 20% off is not gonna make 16 of us go back after such experience of irresponsible service.
Surely a text or call on the day would have easily solved it for 16 easy going people.
  2. Bad experience… The restaurant has no gas and electricity. Did not inform reserved customers on the incident. Made them come down all the way to the restaurant. I will not recommend such unresponsible restaurant. Is a happy occasion, because of this incident we have to settle our dinner at the nearby restaurant as we have 4 kids with us.

VEHICLES AT SUMANG WALK CARPARK VANDALISED, KENA SPRAY PAINTED

0

Facebook user Peter Gan shared photos of cars, motorcycles, and walls at a carpark in Punggol after they were vandalised.

Here is what he said

This happened last night or maybe this morning (not sure exactly) in one of the multi storey carpark at Punggol Bayview, Sumang walk.

Multiple cars and motorbikes were affected and vandalized, even neighboring residential blocks were also affected throughout the estate.

According to those affected and made reports, the authorities had already identified and arrested those responsible but not yet verified…

Sigh, back maybe 30 years ago, such blatant disregard for law and vandalism is either drug/alcohol induced, or part of gang initiation.

I can’t believe such practices prevail till this day

Netizens’ comments

  • So many cars parked there. Ask them to help check their in car cameras. Maybe can catch the culprit.
  • There is always one fellow that is in urgent need of a Blanket Party.
  • CB teen got nothing. Better stay in jail
  • Got camera one

NETIZEN ASKS WHY S’PORE PARENTS DON’T DISCIPLINE THEIR MISBEHAVING KIDS IN PUBLIC

0

Do you notice Singaporean parents don’t discipline their kids in public?

Just curious if its just me or if this is also the experience of others. Singaporeans usually have a stereotypical strict household where you even hear stories on r/sg about parents caning/beating their children. However, it seems that parents barely care about how their children behave in public (I’m referring to basic mannerisms). For instance:

When exiting an elevator, I would find a child standing directly in front of the door, and not even budge when I am walking out. The parents behind them off to one side don’t seem to care to teach their children to wait on the side so people in the elevators can exit first. (This seems to be an issue with adults on the other hand with respect to the MRT)

Out in public or in malls for instance, kids seem to run wild all over the place. I have no problem with this actually, at the end of the day, they’re kids, but where I would expect parents to step in is say when walking on the sidewalk – children seem never to have been taught to step (in front or behind their parents) to one side so people going in the opposite direction can pass.

I wouldn’t even call it bad manners, it seems people are almost completely oblivious.

S’PORE MAN FALLS THROUGH ROTTEN PLANK @ PENANG JETTY, SUFFERS MULTIPLE INJURIES

0

A 40-year-old Singaporean man stepped on a wooden plank that had decayed at a Penang jetty and fell through it, sustaining multiple injuries, according to China Press.

The incident happened on 12 November at about 11am at the Chew Jetty in Georgetown, Penang, where the man had been on a holiday with his family.

He stepped on a decayed plank and it broke, with the bottom half of the man’s body falling through the resultant gap.

The man then tried to support himself on his hands and spraining his left arm, resulting in a large amount of pain and causing him to be unable to move.

His feet also suffered abrasions from the fall, as the members of the public called for an ambulance, and he was then sent to the hospital.

The man’s wife told China Press that her husband’s injuries were not severe due to his age, and added that if it had been an elderly person, things would’ve been first.

MAN HAPPY ABOUT META LAYOFF, JEALOUS THAT THEY ARE PAID OVER 10K A MONTH

0

I am actually happy that Meta start laying off these overpaid SWEs. It is high time these people stop thinking they are so much better than others that they are entitled to their 10k a month job (or maybe more in Meta) and settle for that 4k a month job in your local SME!

I have seen a few of them on linkedin and reaching out for fresh opportunities. While there are recruiters from other companies reaching out to them on the comment sections, I don’t think any will pay remotely close to what Meta does.

But lets be real. Those companies only take in like the top 10-20 SWEs per batch combined (not the mention the people who get to those places are literal geniuses if you stalk their profile).

In comparison, Meta takes way more people. Methinks, it is time they accept that paycut (which is probably 50% or more)!

Here are what netizens think:

  • I have seen people from lousy universities like Curtin, Monash, DeLaSalle get employed into Meta, Google, Twitter
  • There is no need to gloat at others misfortune. Everyone has unique stations in life. We just need to do the best for ourselves.
  • While I do share some of your schadenfreude, I can say that regardless of how much you make, it’s also what you do with it. Reality comes aknocking sooner or later. Those who save their pennies will weather the storm. Those who spend above their means will never earn enough.
  • It makes me cringe when those get laid off starts posting on LinkedIn as if someone just die. Quite true they won’t be able to find same job same pay and same benefits. Those tech companies are overpaying them long ago.
  • Instead of wasting time being jealous go and find ways to make 10k/mth.
  • Then you should be disappointed because you would expect Elon Musk to retain all staff at half the salary
