Charged with assault

The 17-year-old student has since been arrested and charged with attempted assault, netizens who saw the video said that the kid should have been charged with attempted murder.

In high schools, students go through a metal detector before entering the school. But it is unclear how the student managed to smuggle in the weapon without triggering an alert.

Some speculate that the student might have planned the attacked and threw the knive over the fence and pick it up after clearing the metal detector.

The boy that was hit by a BMW in Punggol a few weeks ago has unfortunately scummbed to his injuries in the hospital.

On October 10, the 14-year-old was crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing when he was hit by a BMW.

Background:

A BMW had allegedly beat a red light at Sumang Walk in Punggol and ran over a 14-year-old schoolboy on 10 October at about 11.20am.

The netizen who posted videos of the aftermath, Vicknkesh Saravanan, shared that he and his wife got down to check on the victim after the accident and a lady who was with the boy, recounted what happened.

The boy was apparently crossing the road when the traffic light was green and signalling for pedestrians to cross when the errant BMW hit him.

The boy hit the car’s windscreen and fell onto the road.

The netizen added that the boy is now fighting for his life and his parents were not there at the time of the incident.

The police also said that a 24-year-old driver has been arrested for dangerous driving causing hurt.

A school boy was at a small road junction traffic light with the lady. When the traffic light green man appeared they started crossing and a BMW just hit the boy and the boy hit on the car’s windscreen and fall few steps away, the boy was hurt so badly and he was fighting for his life…

When we pass that road we saw the boy lying on the road and with a big crack on the windscreen of the BMW . The medics were giving him treatment… and he was trying to catch his breath so hardly…. Our heart broke seeing that.

The boy was not in the wrong. He was just crossing on green man… the BMW failed to slow down and beat the traffic light…..

Now the poor boy is fighting for his life… And his parents were not there… how can they take it when they got to know the news…. To them he just went to school like any other day, because of one reckless driver he’s hurt now….

Our heart broken seeing that incident…

I really pray for the boy…

Hope the parents were informed by now.

The Malaysian ringgit’s value appears to be in jeopardy, as it is expected to fall further against our Singapore dollar and US dollars.

Analysts predict that the ringgit will continue to fall until US$1 is equal to RM5.

The data suggest that the ringgit might reach values between RM3.35 to RM3.45 against SGD$1 in the next 6 months.

What are the factors?

According to TNP news, The ringgit is expected to fall in value as the US dollar strengthens dramatically over the year. This is mostly because the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates to combat inflation.

The Singapore dollar has fallen by approximately 4.7% versus the US dollar in the last year, it has done well given that the US dollar has risen by roughly 18% relative to a broad basket of currencies

Malaysia’s ringgit, which is at a 24-year low versus the dollar, is set to fall further on fears that a national election could fuel political risk and jeopardize the government’s ability to pass a deficit-busting budget.

Last month, the ringgit broke through a support level at 4.50 per dollar as the US Federal Reserve’s hawkish measures sparked a surge in the US dollar. The currency is now facing new headwinds after Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob dissolved parliament, clearing the door for a nationwide referendum in the next two months.

According to Bloomberg, Singapore emerging markets FX expert Galvin Chia believes the US dollar-ringgit exchange rate would reach 4.75 to 4.80 by the end of 2022.

The ringgit is presently worth 4.74 US dollars as of November 2, 2022.

A picture emerged online showing a road sign in Yishun being melted as joss papers burned under it.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has since removed the melted signboard and said that they will be replacing it.

The photo shows a pile of joss papers burning under the road sign, with the letterings on the road sign melting and falling off.

There were also cardboard boxes that were discarded and piled up under a tree in the background of the joss paper cage.

The incident is believed to have happened near Block 117 Yishun Ring Road, along Yishun Avenue 7.

LTA responds

LTA spoke to 8World News and said that they have removed the damaged road sign and will be replacing it within a week.

They also added that a police report had been lodged, and they reminded the public to be socially responsible, and that burning joss paper near the roads is dangerous to motorists and pedestrians.
