A video emerged online showing a hit and run accident on an unspecified expressway, with a motorcyclist hotting the rear of a car and riding away.
The incident happened on 13 October at about 6.57am, and was captured on the dashcam of the stricken vehicle.
The dashcam footage shows the motorcycle accelerating from behind the car and hitting it whilst passing, as the driver of the car then honked at him.
The motorcyclist was then seen in the front dashcam riding off without stopping, and the driver then shared the damages that his car suffered – being scratched at the rear.

The Ministry of Health shared data on 15 October showing that certain groups of people are at a higher risk of being infected fith the XBB subvariant of Omicron.
These include those who have not been infected with the virus before, as well as those who caught it during the Delta wave last year.
A table for the cases in October so far, shows the recent cases comprise of those who don;’t have a history of infection being the largest group, while the second largest group were those who caught it during the Delta wave or before.
Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung also said during a press conference that “People who got infected last October or earlier … your risk of being infected is almost the same as a COVID-naive person,” according to CNA.
As we progress towards living with COVID-19, we will encounter new infection waves driven by emerging variants from time to time. Over the past month, COVID-19 cases have been on the rise, mainly due to the Omicron XBB subvariant. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has been closely tracking the trajectory of this wave, and has taken steps to ensure that our healthcare capacity remains protected.
2. The Omicron XBB subvariant was first detected in August 2022 in India, and has since been detected in more than 17 countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Denmark, India, Japan and the US. While observations from countries where XBB has been reported suggest that it is at least as transmissible as currently circulating variants, there is no evidence that XBB causes more severe illness.
3. In Singapore, XBB is now the predominant subvariant circulating in the community, accounting for 54% of local cases during the week of 3 to 9 October, from 22% the previous week (Figure 1). The previously dominant subvariant, BA.5, is now estimated to account for 21% of local cases, while the subvariant BA.2.75 is estimated to account for 24% of cases.
4. There is evidence that XBB may be driving an increase in reinfections. The proportion of reinfections among total COVID-19 cases in Singapore has been increasing over the past month, with reinfections currently making up about 17% of total new cases (Figure 2). Given that immunity from natural infection in the population is likely waning over time, this underscores the importance of ensuring minimum protection from vaccination and keeping our vaccinations up to date to protect us against severe infections.
Healthcare Capacity Remains Protected
5. To date, the increase in hospitalised cases remains proportionate to the rise in overall local cases. More importantly, the number of severe cases has remained low. As of 14 October 2022, the number of cases hospitalised, requiring oxygen supplementation and in the intensive care unit (ICU) are at 562, 44 and 9 respectively, compared to 365, 37 and 13 a week ago. This is despite the 7-day Moving Average of Local Cases rising from 4,714 to 7,716 cases over the same period (Figure 3).
6. Based on current information, MOH expects that this XBB infection wave will peak by around mid-November 2022. Using the BA.5 wave as an indication, hospitalised cases then peaked at 800 in July 2022, and our hospitals, while stretched, were able to cope with the numbers. Given that we are able to quickly ramp up to the same capacity and beyond, our projections on healthcare utilisation show that we have adequate ICU, hospital and COVID-19 Treatment Facility (CTF) beds to cope with the upcoming wave.
7. In response to the surge over the past two weeks, public hospitals have rapidly activated various measures to operate about additional 200 beds to care for hospitalised COVID-19 patients. These include deferring non-urgent admissions, discharging stable patients home or to nursing homes, and transferring recovering patients to transitional care facilities and community hospitals. In the coming two weeks, public hospitals will operate a total of more than 800 beds for COVID-19 patients. We are also ramping up CTF capacity in stages, to provide over 800 beds by early November.
8. Members of public are encouraged to only go to the Emergency Department (ED) for emergency conditions as our hospitals’ EDs continue to see a high number of patients daily, mostly for non-COVID related conditions. Patients who are triaged to be non-serious may be requested by the EDs to be diverted to Urgent Care Centres or nearby primary care clinics for management.
9. To relieve the load on General Practitioner (GP) clinics and polyclinics, we urge employers not to require medical certificates (MC) from employees who have either self-tested positive for COVID-19 or have Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) symptoms. This is to avoid patients with mild or no symptoms making unnecessary visits to GP clinics, which would compromise the standard of care for other patients who require medical attention. Those who are well should be allowed to work from home if they are able to do so. We also encourage those with mild flu-like symptoms to consider teleconsultation with their doctor. They may visit flu.gowhere.gov.sg for a list of telemedicine providers.
Revised Healthcare Protocols for Paediatric Patients and Pregnant Patients
10. Our healthcare protocols are regularly reviewed and updated based on the latest COVID-19 situation. Currently, COVID-19 positive paediatric patients (3 to <12 months old) and pregnant patients (gestational age below 36 weeks) are triaged as Protocol 1 and placed under the Home Recovery Programme (HRP). In monitoring the COVID-19 trend from Omicron subvariants in Singapore, the risk of severe COVID-19 disease in these two groups is low.
11. In view of the low risk, patients from these two groups can be managed as Protocol 2 by default, for self-recovery at home or under the care of their own primary doctors, with effect from 25 October 2022. These patients should continue to monitor themselves closely for signs and symptoms of concern (e.g. shortness of breath, chest pain, persistent fever >38°C) while recovering at home. If signs and symptoms worsen, they should seek medical attention.
Keeping up to date with COVID-19 Vaccination
12. Vaccination is our primary defence against COVID-19 and given that immunity in the population is likely waning over time, we urge the public to get vaccinated or boosted when they are eligible to do so.
13. As of 14 October, the bivalent Moderna/Spikevax vaccine has been made available to persons who have yet to achieve minimum protection, as well as those aged 50 years and above who received their last vaccine dose more than five months ago. We have seen good response to this, with over 4,000 people coming forward on 14 October to get their dose.
14. We encourage those who are eligible to step forward for vaccination. They may walk into any Joint Testing and Vaccination Centre (JTVC) offering the Moderna/Spikevax vaccines to receive their bivalent vaccine dose. Please refer to www.gowhere.gov.sg/vaccine to locate the nearest JTVC.
Important for Everyone to Exercise Personal and Social Responsibility
15. Our society will continue to build up even more resilience with each infection wave. As we ride through this wave, it remains important to protect our most vulnerable. Members of the public are encouraged to wear masks when in crowded places, or when visiting or interacting with vulnerable persons. In particular, experts have advised that the elderly and immuno-compromised should continue to wear masks in crowded indoor settings to reduce their risk of catching any respiratory infections.
16. We urge everyone to continue to exercise personal and social responsibility by maintaining good hygiene, testing and minimising social interactions when unwell, and keeping up to date with vaccinations.
Thailand’s Department of Disease Control (DDC) said that the increased surveillance will apply to all airports in Thailand, according to The Bangkok Post.
Arrivals from Singapore and Hong Kong who display respiratory symptoms may be randomly chosen for testing at the Department of Medical Sciences.
The XBB strain has been detected in countries such as Australia, India, Japan and the US and presently comprises of 55% of the cases in Singapore, according to the Ministry of Health.
MOH has also tightened SMMs at all hospitals and residential care homes in Singapore for 4 weeks.
The automated customs clearance system at the Johor checkpoint, Sultan Iskandar Building’s Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ), will be closed for a month from today until 10 November.
The Sultan Iskandar Building posted on their Facebook that they will be carrying out autogate replacement and installation works at the checkpoint from 16 October to 10 November.
They added that the automated gates that are not being replaced will carry on being operational as usual, for “Malaysian citizens”.
However, they stopped short of mentioning how many automated gates will still be operational.
Alternate travel counters have also been arranged for manual clearance – counters 1 to 4 will be for Malaysians, counter 5 will be for seniors, disabled people, pregnant mothers and Malaysian PRS, while counters 6 to 18 will be for all passports.
The time taken to clear customs is also expected to be longer as a result of the increased number of people requiring manual clearance as a result.
Influencer Daryl Aiden Yow shared in a series of Instagram Stories that his mother was allegedly looked down on by a sales assistant at Dior Singapore.
Here is what he said
Story time:
I was extremely packed (almost back to back) the past week and was unable to sync my schedule with Mom and Dad to shop for a bag. Mom was super ganchiong at my “Get a bag of your choice” gift that I was giving her 4) So I told them to just take my credit card and shop as I didn’t want my Mom to wait any longer lol.
I then got a string of messages from my Mom when I was at a shoot about how hurt she was from the way some of the luxury brands’ staffs were treating her. She didn’t dress up much fah- just a blouse with denim shorts and my Dad, being a heck care kinda guy also just wore a tee and beans with slippers.
But is that reason enough to be looked down upon?! Idk, the way she described how she was treated made me so angry!!!! It was supposed to be a fun and sweet gesture from me that’ll make her happy, but it in turn made her feel like shit because some of the staffs were clocking her and my Dad from head to toe. One even told her “N-0, no.” when she asked to view certain bags.. But also, there were lovely people who served them too. Not all were rotten.
Please ok. I wish I knew the name of that rude staff because I would be happy to head down to tell her off sia. Really wished I didn’t have work and joined them!!!”
Any of you guys ever come across such situations?? Seriously, so annoyed!
I’m not slamming any brand, it’s not my style. This is me slamming rude of sales associates.
I’ve gotten SO MANY DMs from people who experienced this as well.
And 80% of the DMs have something in common.
This is also the same brand and outlet that was rude of to my Mom.
Dior, ION Orchard. A lady in her late 3os, early 4os. Won’t name names.
Please do better.
Can you imagine, my Mom does not like splurging on stuff and is thrifty 99% of the time.
For her to be able to go into such luxury stores is a brand new experience- one she was looking forward to and one that she’ll remember. And then, just like that, some yayapapaya SA ruins her experience. PIS LAN. I hope someone someday scolds the hell out of you to wake you up.
A woman had brought her Shiba Inu out for a walk in Bukit Panjang on 13 October when she got hit by a motorcycle, which startled her pet who immediately ran away.
The incident happened in the morning of 13 October at Bangkit Road in Bukit Panjang.
The woman’s friend, Christina Wisley, shared on the Lost and Found Pets in Singapore’s Facebook group, appealing for information on the lost dog.
She said “Hi. My friend got hit by a motorcycle at Bangkit Rd this morning and her dog a Shiba Inu ran off. If anybody has seen him please contact me. My friend has since come back from the hospital but she cannot leave the house as she has a broken collarbone. I’ll attach a photo of him and my dog.”
Footage of the missing Shiba Inu also emerged on the SGRV Facebook Page, showing the dog dashing across the road at about 6.21am.
Cars were seen slowing down to avoid hitting the little doggo, as netizens shared sightings of the dog at different locations.
A 49-year-old driver of a Mercedes taxi crashed his vehicle into a shophouse pillar at Zion Road yesterday (15 October) and was arrested for suspected drink driving.
The incident happened at about 1.40am, with the driver sustaining minor injuries in the process but was not conveyed to the hospital.
Several witnesses who lived in the shophouse unit above spoke to Shin Min Daily News and said that they were startled by the car crash.
They also reported seeing the airbag inside the taxi being inflated during the accident, and they were relieved that the second and third storeys of the shophouse where they live were unaffected.
The shops were also not affected by the crash and resumed business as usual as the taxi only crashed into the pillar, as renovation works on the building’s structures went on.
I’m 25 years old this year, and I don’t have a boyfriend yet. The reason is because I’m fat.
Growing up, I’ve always been on the larger side as compared to the rest of my friends. I’m currently 160cm and 65kg. Like all plus sized individuals, I’ve been continuously teased and made fun of throughout my life because of my weight. From primary school, to secondary school, to JC, and even now, in the working world, I endure backhanded comments like “You would look so much prettier if you slimmed down.” and much more.
I know that fat people are essentially disliked and looked down upon, if I can use that phrase. We don’t get attention from people other than when it’s to ridicule us. Some people make friends with us out of pity. But it’s not like I haven’t made an effort to slim down. I’ve tried everything: going on a diet, exercising daily (which I still do), eating medicine, fasting et cetera., but even if they worked, the results are not amazing. I will admit I’ve lost weight from some of these methods, but not enough for me to become attractive to the male gaze.
One thing I want to know is, is personality not enough for guys? I know that I’m not “ugly”. I take care of my skin well, I think I have a pretty average face (if you excuse the weight), the only problem with me is that I’m fat. I also agree that I would look better if I slimmed down, who doesn’t? But why do some guys overlook me as a whole and only focus on appearance?
Personally, my type of guy is not a lot to ask for. I just want a nice guy that’s kind to me and treats me well. Disclaimer, I know, of course, aesthetics play a part, and even though I don’t mind dating a fat guy, I know plenty of girls who would mind. But since my experience is with guys and not girls, this is what I’m focusing on.
I’ve went on a few dates through dating apps. Each and every time after the date, the guy would tell me something along the lines of “I think you’re very fun to be around, but I don’t think we’re suitable for each other.” and if I press further, it would usually end with them saying “My ideal type is someone slimmer.” Dashing my hopes is a normal experience for me on dates now. Honestly, I’m not sure why they would agree to a date if they know I’m not their “type”. Maybe to ridicule me? I’m used to it anyway.
Anyway, back to the problem and my question, do guys really think that appearance triumphs personality every single time? Even if a woman is a complete and utter asshole, but is beautiful, are guys willing to enter into a relationship with them? And is that the reason why I’ve not been successful in getting a partner even now? If so, even if I manage to slim down, I wouldn’t be loved for who I am, but rather what I look like. Then how would the relationship ever work?
Please offer me your guidance and answers everybody, I’m truly in desperate need of this.
P.S. Maybe some people will ask me to stay single, girls can be independent too right? Yes, but I do also really want to find a partner to stay with when I grow older. It’s not my wish to be single forever, although others may feel differently.
A man who recently went through a divorce felt that it is so easy for divorce lawyers to earn money as the process for his divorce was so fast and furious.
Here is the story:
I went online to seek divorce lawyers and I managed to pick a few and found the cheapest one. After arranging the appointment with the lawyer, I went down and the lawyer started to ask about my situation.
I told him that my wife, who is a foreigner, had gone missing and was probably away from Singapore after failing to contact her. Even though she agreed with the divorce. She did not follow through with it and went missing.
The lawyer told me not to worry and asked me for a few key details, such as the identification number and details of both myself and my wife. He then started to draft the letter to submit to the court.
He asked for my contact details and my wife’s contact details and typed in the letter that she was uncontactable and missing despite trying. The lawyer told me to dial the phone a few times and take a screenshot to attach as evidence.
The whole process for the lawyer to type and submit the letter to the court took less than 30mins. After 30mins I was told to pay around $2,000.
That’s it, the lawyer tells me to wait 3-7 months and I will most probably get approval for the divorce.
30 mins get $2,000. Lawyers earn more than doctors.
After about 4 months, I received a copy of the official court letter saying that my marriage has been dissolved.
Next time I get a son, I will definitely ask him to be a lawyer that focuses on such affairs.
