Ngee Ann Polytechnic said that they are investigating claims by a former student about their lecturer Tan Boon Lee using his lessons to share his prejudiced views about Islam in class.
The school has reached out to the alumnus, Nurul Fatimah Binti Iskandar (@_new_rule_) after she shared the allegations on her Instagram.
Tan is currently suspended, and NP said that they will not hesitate to dismiss him if appropriate.
NP said:
“We are aware of allegations surfaced by our alumnus on social media against the lecturer who inappropriately discussed religion in class in 2017. We strive to ensure that our campus remains a safe and conducive space for learning at all times, and we deeply regret the experience our alumnus went through. We have reached out to the alumnus to assist us with more information.
Ngee Ann Polytechnic has a zero tolerance approach against any form of misconduct by members of our community. Our staff members are expected to respect the cultural, ethnic and religious differences when interacting with students and other staff members. They must uphold secularity and impartiality at all times, in line with our staff Code of Conduct.
The lecturer in question has been suspended from his duties. We are investigating the matter and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action, including dismissal if appropriate.

Jeffrey Todd Martin, 57-years-old, a Canadian and Singapore PR, punched a lorry driver in a road rage incident which knocked out the driver.
He pleaded guilty to 1 count of voluntarily causing hurt and 1 count of riding his bicycle without due regard for the safety of others.
He was fined $5,600 yesterday (10 June).

On 24 February 2019, at about 10.20am, Martin was cycling at Jalan Eunos when a lorry overtook him, he then overtook the lorry and stopped in the middle of the lane in front of the lorry, pointing at the driver while doing so.
The lorry driver, Zhang Ping, 33, a Chinese national, had no choice but to stop in the middle of moving traffic.
Martin then alighted from his bicycle and hit the lorry’s window while spewing vulgarities at the driver.
Zhang then turned his vehicle sharply towards Martin, forcing the latter to step away.
Zhang then alighted from his lorry to confront Martin.
Martin then punched Zhang in the face, knocking him down onto the ground, before he cycled away as Zhang remained on the ground, sitting in a daze.
Zhang suffered cuts on his lips and was given 2 days MC.
The Police confirmed that a report has been lodged and the Police are currently investigating on the incident.
The 48-year-old woman (also known as the Gong woman) in the video is currently under investigation.
According to the viral video Facebook post that was published by the man:

A netizen bought a ‘Coco Shiok’ drink but end up was not very “Shiok” after she found a few fragments of plastic that lookalike to plastic.
In the receipt it is stated that she bought the drink for SGD$4.30 after a discount of S$0.60 at Blk 888 Woodlands Drive #01-747 Singapore 730888.
She posted on Facebook earlier today with the follow information:
“I bought a Coco Shiok drink from i-Tea and found few fragments of glass lookalike plastic in my drink. “
“Tried messaging them in FB but it’s just mark as read!!! Dunno how many pcs have been accidentally swallow without me noticing. Its dangerous if kids are the one who got this drink instead of me. Unacceptable!!! I-tea.sg”
The netizen even drank part of the drink before discovering the the fragments.
A video emerged online showing yet another n*ked man roaming the streets of Singapore.
This time, the n*ked man was seen climbing on top of another man’s car and standing on the roof of the vehicle.
The stunned driver then alighted from his car and watched on as the n*ked man then jumped down from his car and knelt down on the grass patch in front of the vehicle.
The n*ked man then walked away from the car as though nothing happened.
Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said at a press conference for the Multi-Ministry Task Force that Singaporeans aged between 12 and 39, can now book their appointments for the Covid-19 vaccination from tomorrow (11 June) onwards.
Ong said:
“This is a big group of about 1.5 million people who have yet to be vaccinated, so Singapore citizens aged 12 to 39 who have yet to be invited will get a two-week priority window to book your vaccination.”
