Conversation between customer and restaurant owner

Scenario: Customer came to settle the bill and lamented that the dinner was expensive.

Owner: Look at your order, 9 people eat RM148 is reasonable.

Customer: Only a few dishes but so expensive.

The owner also stated that their profit margin is less than 30 percent, why do people still think its expensive.

He added that nowadays with RM150 there is not much food one can get from the markets and there are still costs incurred from preparing the dishes for the customers.

No change in prices over the years

The owner also said that prices have been kept the same over the years apart from their fried chilli which only increased by RM2.

This is done so that the older customers do not feel alienated, and that the restaurant has a 22 year history in this line serving both local and foreign customers.

ICA OFFICERS PREVENTS SMUGGLING OF LIVE PYTHONS INTO SPORE

0

Officers from the Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) on Thursday (7 Apr) did a check on a Malaysian registered lorry transporting cement into Singapore via Tuas Checkpoint and found two live pythons in a Styrofoam box, thus effectively preventing the smuggling activity from becoming a success.

The pythons were identified as Reticulated Pythons and was inside a Styrofoam box hidden in the cabin area of the lorry which the Malaysian driver had initially claimed that it contained food but upon further questioning admitted to having live snakes inside the box.

He also did not have proper documentations and permits for live imports and was subsequently referred to NParks for their investigations.

Both snakes were around 4.8 metres long and 3.8 metres long respectively.

Statement by ICA & Nparks

In a joint statement released by the two agencies, they mentioned that trading wildlife illegally can threaten the biodiversity and ecosystems around the world and might also cause risks to health.

The conditions in which the animals are smuggled in may also cause them to suffer unnecessarily and it may even result in their death.

Due to these complications, NParks regulates the import of animals in Singapore to prevent new diseases coming into the country and also to guard the health of these animals and their welfare and to stop illegal wildlife trade.

Penalties

There is an endangered species (import and export) act which states that those attempting to import a scheduled species without a valid permit is an offence and the offender is liable to a maximum fine of $50,000 and/or imprisonment of up to two years.

The public can refer to NParks website should they have questions about bringing animals back to Singapore and the public can also do their part to help tackle the trade by not buying wildlife to keep as pets.

Anyone with information on such activities can also call NParks hotline at 1800 476 1600 and all information provided will be kept confidential.

GUY BOUGHT $1.6K IPHONE FOR KTV HOSTESS WHO PROMISED TO BE HIS GF

0

A netizen shared a story about how he got duped by a KTV hostess, who promised to be his girlfriend if he bought her an iPhone 13 for $1.6k.

Here is his story

“Don’t trust KTV girls who say they will be your girlfriend, they are just lying to you!

I met this super cute and dua liap Viet girl at a KTV, and she introduced herself as “Nguyen”, and we spent the night singing and drinking together.

She was very touchy and knew how to get me aroused and touched me all over when we were drinking, and being drunk and thinking with the wrong head, I became very easily manipulated.

I really liked her, even though I just met her and wanted to see her again after today, and I asked her if she had a boyfriend.

She then told me no, and said that I could be her boyfriend if I wanted. And I was like “niceeee”.

So I asked her to be my girlfriend, even though I don’t even know her last name because she refused to tell me, and I only knew her for like 2 hours.

She said sure, she’ll be my girlfriend, if I give her a big tip at the end of the night, as well as another $1.6k for an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

So we started having a back-and-forth discussion about iPhones vs Androids, as she spoke about how she is using an old Samsung phone and wanted an iPhone, and I told her that Android is better, you know, just to keep the conversation flowing.

Of course I wasn’t that stupid to give her $1.6k.

So we drank and drank and she kept making me drink, while at the same time rubbing my inner thighs and crotch.

And you know how men lose their intelligence when they are drunk and a woman is touching them, yeap, I turned stupid.

I then transferred her $1.8k, including the tip for the night. And she was so happy that she slid her hands into my pants and “massaged” me in the room.

The next day when I sobered up, I immediately regretted what I did and tried to reach out to her on Wechat but she didn’t reply me, so nvm, I went back to work and went about my day as per normal.

At night I tried to text her again but still to no avail, I think she blocked me.

I then called the mummy at the KTV and she told me that Nguyen had already went back to Vietnam, and I was like WTF.

I told my friends about it and they said I deserved what I got, for thinking with the wrong head, and now I am $1.8k poorer.

Moral of the story is, don’t trust KTV girls, have fun with them is fine but don’t believe the things they say to you. “

Editor’s note: I also want iPhone leh, when are you free to drink?

WOMAN BOUGHT GOJEK VOUCHER FROM SHOPEE, END UP CANNOT REDEEM CANNOT REFUND

Buying vouchers beforehand might not always be the best and sometimes technical errors will happen and your money might be gone.

A woman bought a $20 GoJek voucher and used it to redeem her ride but the voucher code turns out to be invalid/fully redeemed.

The problem has been going on for three months and she is unable to get a refund

Here is what she said:

Bought this $20 voucher in Jan specially to send my mum back home after cruise, I drive so I don’t need this at all.

On that day, after promo code keyed in, I got a message that promo code is fully redeemed or invalid.

So I called and messaged Shopee customer service on what to do, they said will do a refund.

Thereafter no news. And after few chasings they said no refund but extend the voucher until 12 April.

I decided to give this to a friend and same thing happened. Cannot redeem.

We went into my voucher on gojek app, there’s no way to key in code.

and then we tried to redeem it is again fully redeemed or invalid.

It’s been 3 months, Gojek Singapore and Shopee are not willing to settle this invalid code and not refunding too.

Or anyone knows how this can be redeemed?

“Received this screenshot from wadsapp after my post enquiring about about food delivery earnings. Impressive. This person earned $11,274 for the month of February this year. 👏👏👏”

Here are what netizens have to say

  • 🤦🏽‍♂️ Not another one. Another food delivery rider did all 3 food delivery platforms for 31 days straight in March 2022. He earned $8000 for that effort. 🤔
  • Sorry to ask. If their earning is this much, how come they entitle for government subsidies cash grants and some still able to apply for financial assistance ?
  • 291hrs total. Lets say 30 or 31 days its almost 10hrs per day every single day and no off. For 2 days off every week, he needs to work 13hrs a day. Not everyone can do such long hours. SALUTE!

GUY ORDER BIG PRAWN NOODLES FROM HOUGANG STORE, RECEIVES ‘SHRIMPS’ INSTEAD

0

A guy recently went to have Prawn Noodles, (he ordered big prawns with pork ribs noodles) and then started to voice his displeasure on the serving of noodles he received.

This is due to the size of the prawns given which according to the man was not ‘big prawns’.

He questioned the business ethics of the stall owner and then added that the attitude of the stall assistant was very rude and said that it is ‘little wonder’ why people will want to pour hot soup on seller.

The said store appears to be at Ci Yuan Hawker Centre

Here is what the guy said

“This look like big prawn ? If you don’t sell this prawn than photos should change.

I ordered number 2 but this bowl prawn is so small so I ask auntie about it, she said prawn come small mean small I can’t make it big, few dollar you want how big ?

It is not I want how big, and I don’t mind pay more to get what picture show, do business must have the guide line to follow, if like this can, than you should put lobster photos than give ppl small prawn lo. Still can talk so rude, no wonder ppl will pour hot mee soup on seller, because got this type of ppl. Do business so no standard no wonder no queue.

01-29 ci yuan.”

Here are what netizens have to say

  • Picture is for illustration only please. So pretty lady promoting besides the new car, u buy car and the lady must come along?
  • I agree with your very valid point.. what he/she show/display should be what we get.. else it is not right.. we understand the prices of ingredients have gone up..so do change/update the display and/or pricing…
  • This is still good enough for $4 meal, some prawn noodle stall they cut off d head and slice the prawn half and place it nicely on d noodle. From top look like 3 prawns but once u pick it up its half also cost me $4. If u want big prawn should go to the old airport prawn noodle but price is not $4 for sure but that was last time before pandemic. Haven’t visit the stall since then. Maybe the prawn now become skinny also

WOMAN CAN’T BOND WITH HER SON, BEING WITH HIM FEELS LIKE A “CHORE”

0

I’ve been criticized for this from my former best friend. My parents as well. And honestly, reasonably so..

I cannot bond with my son.. I just can’t. There’s times here and there where we’ll cuddle and watch a show together. But it’s not often, at all.

Doing basic things that he needs feels like a chore to me. But I will always attend to them, no matter what. No matter how I feel. But a majority of the time? My parents are with him.

And when I tell you that I feel absolute guilt and shame for being this way.. I mean it. There has been nights where I have cried over it.

No matter how hard I try, it just won’t come to me. It’s almost like I wasn’t built to have those maternal instincts. The girl who is no longer my friend still comes and sees my son. I don’t mind that though, she has played a big part in his life.

I feel like a side character in my son’s life, basically. Which I understand. Sometimes I feel like I’m too far gone when it comes to being a parental figure, so I just.. step aside and watch him start to grow from afar.

I’m starting to tear up while typing this out. But again, when I tell you I’ve tried so hard to just, bond with this boy.. it never comes to me.

He’s the sweetest little boy. He doesn’t do anything wrong. He has done nothing for me to feel this way.

His father is a good man. Has a good job. Goes to church every Sunday. He’s amazing with children from what I’ve seen while knowing him over years. He’s got everything set out for him. But my parents are not fond of him at all, not sure why..

I don’t know.. my childhood was pretty rough. I endured a lot of trauma. And just knowing I’m not able to provide my son the best life, and be a better mother to him, crushes me. I wish I could just switch all of it, just press a button. But it’s not that simple.
