RESIDENT NOT HAPPY BECAUSE UNCLE LIKE TO CLAP HIS HANDS WHILE WALKING AT NIGHT

0

A netizen shared how his sleep is being disturbed by an uncle who likes to clap his hands while walking around the estate at night.

Here is the story:

“I am a resident of Telok Blangah rise

Every night this uncle does his routine walking exercise from around 2:30 am to 3:30 am, probably at Bukit Purmei Hillock and he likes to clap while he walks.

Please be considerate as you clap, residents on the higher floor can hear it clearly (sound travels upward), it is really irritating.

I don’t know why you walk so much every day and sometimes hang around the fitness corner at Block 34 Telok Blangah Way, jolly clapping your hands (for what???)

Please refrain from doing it during midnight, you don’t need to sleep we need.”

WHO: OMICRON SPREADS FASTER THAN DELTA AND INFECTS VACCINATED PEOPLE

0

The director-general of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said on 20 December that the Omicron variant is spreading faster than the Delta variant and is infecting those who are already vaccinated or have recovered from the coronavirus.

Tedros said in a news briefing for journalists at their new headquarters building:

“There is now consistent evidence that Omicron is spreading significantly faster than the Delta variant.

And it is more likely people vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19 could be infected or re-infected.”

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

Soumya Swaminathan, the chief scientist of WHO, said that the Omicron variant is successfully evading some immune responses.

WHO officials said that the variant appears to be better at evading antibodies that are generated by some vaccines, but there are other forms of immunity that may prevent infection and disease.

GUY QUEUED FOR 4 HOURS TO CHECK INTO HOTEL, FINDS LEFTOVERS INSIDE FRIDGE

A video emerged online showing a guy sharing his experience at the Furama City Centre Hotel, where he queued for 4 hours then found leftovers from the previous guest inside the fridge.

The video was posted onto TikTok and had almost 120,000 views and almost 200 comments.

Long snaking queues could be seen as many queued up to check into the hotel for their staycations, and the TikToker warned others to be prepared to wait at least 2 hours to check-in.

The long queue continued from the check-in counter all the way down the escalator and even out onto the road.

He then shared that after the nightmare of waiting four hours to check-in, he found leftover food from the previous guests still inside the fridge.

The bedsheets and blankets were also not arranged when he got into the room.

A video emerged online showing a lorry driving against the flow of traffic and almost colliding with another car that was going the right way.

The incident happened on 20 December at around 5.57 pm, along Clementi Avenue 2.

The camcar could be seen at the start of the video going about its journey as normal, before making a left turn at a crossing.

However, a lorry then emerged and was going against the traffic flow in the opposite direction before stopping because the car was blocking it.

The camcar then reversed, presumably to avoid any collision with the lorry.

KIND-HEARTED BUS DRIVER STOPS BUS TO HELP IGUANA CROSS THE ROAD SAFELY

A netizen shared a video of an iguana crossing a very busy road with some passing drivers and cyclists trying to help the little reptile get across safely.

Here is the story:

“Why did the Iguana cross the road?

Today’s Afternoon Ride had a face-off with an Iguana. Location: Lentor Ave, near Yishun Stadium.

Nice to see some cyclists, passersby, bus drivers, and even a driver lending his umbrella to assist in guiding the Iguana out of the road.

Several times the Iguana swept its tail defensively while we were trying to lead him out of the road… It went underneath the bus and a car…

Though it’s unsuccessful, as it’s still stuck on a tree, of the road divider.

Hope it will finally cross over safely to the other side..”

S’PORE BANK WORKER STOLE $1.13M, REPLACED NOTES WITH BLANK PAPER, JAILED

0

Tan Chen Yen, 38-years-old, pleaded guilty to 6 charges including criminal breach of trust by a servant, buying and using counterfeit notes and falsifications of accounts.

He was sentenced to 7 years and 5 months of imprisonment on 20 December, with another 14 charges being considered for his sentencing.

What happened?

Tan was an employee for Bank Pictet & Cie in Marina Bay Financial Centre from February 2015 to August 2018 working as a banking operations specialist.

His job scope included being responsible for matters that concerned the safe that was on the bank’s premises that contained various currencies of notes, as well as facilitating the case deposits and withdrawals of the clients’ money.

He was also responsible for ordering currency notes from UOB to replenish the notes in the safe when they ran low.

Stealing methods

Tan started stealing money from the safe between 2016 and 2018.

He would take the real notes and replace them with counterfeit notes that he bought online or with blank paper that he cut up.

He would also withdraw more money than what his clients wanted and keep the excess amount for himself.

Finally caught

The crimes came to light on 31 August when a Pictet employee found an envelope containing blank sheets of paper cut into the shape of the currency notes.

The matter was then reported to the COO and a physical count of the currency notes was then ordered.

Tan later confessed to his crimes after learning that the envelope had been found – he had taken around $1.13 million and only $62,258 was restituted to the bank.

He admitted to spending the money on gambling and personal expenses.

ANOTHER WOMAN SHARES HORROR STORY ABOUT LIVING WITH MOTHER-IN-LAW

0

A woman who got married earlier this year shared her horror story about living with her mother-in-law and warned others about moving in with their in-laws.

Here is the story:

“I just got married earlier this year and decided to move in with my mother-in-law (her husband is not in the picture).

She has retired and owns a 5 room flat. She lives there with my husband (the only son in contact with her). She has 3 other children and all do not keep in contact with her.

5 room flat – more than enough space for all of us. But many things happened that caused us to eventually move out.

Unreasonable

1) The master bedroom is empty and is used as a storage room (she has many items that she refused to throw). Before we move in, we asked her if we can use the room and she agreed. However, weeks before our wedding when we were preparing to move in, she refused to move the items in the storeroom. So, she actually expected us to stay in there with all the items she does not use but refuse to throw. I was upset but I have no choice, it’s her home.

2) Her home also does not have an electric kettle. When I bought one, she did not allow me to use it in the kitchen (although it is huge and the countertop has a lot of space). I ended up using in my already cramped room with her things everywhere.

3) When I brought some of my clothes with me to move in, she kept saying I am bringing too many things into her home. Mind you, I didn’t bring too many things since I did not even have a wardrobe (it’s full of her clothes and items that she refuses to move). I only brought 2 duffel bags.

4) She also woke us up daily at 5 am asking us to help her with house chores before we go out for work. My husband said she has never done that before we got married.

Ignored her

There are many other things but these are the ones that I can remember clearly. Throughout this ordeal (which lasted only a few weeks), I did not say anything mean to her or talk back to her at all. In fact, I tried to talk to her nicely and asked her how her day was, prepared food for her. She completely ignored me every time or just glared at me. I just remember crying a lot. She did not even talk to me, she only spoke to my husband. She did glare at him and all, but at least she talked to him.

It has been a few months but it really hurt me. It also affected my marriage negatively. It made me feel like I was better off not being married since I felt very unwelcomed. I felt like nothing when I was living there. I cannot lie but at that point in time, I even felt regret marrying my husband. She was totally normal before we got married FYI.

Finally moved out

Now we have moved out into our own resale home. Whenever I visit (just out of obligation), she is mostly normal and acts as if all of that did not happen. However, I don’t think I can ever forgive her for treating me that way. I am still extremely hurt today. I even have nightmares about it.

I have made it clear to my husband that she is not welcome to stay with us in our home, even if she gets sick and needs extra care. I feel bad but I really cannot forgive her. I wish I can get rid of this pain and hatred I feel towards her.

So.. yes.. pls be cautious about moving in with your in-laws.. you will never know their true colors until you have lived with them on a long term basis (staying overnight doesn’t count!).”

Editor’s note: Very well said.

SUSPECTED OMICRON CLUSTER AT ANYTIME FITNESS IN BUKIT TIMAH

0

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement on 21 December that a suspected Omicron cluster has been detected at Anytime Fitness in Bukit Timah Shopping Centre.

Two cases linked to the gym have tested preliminarily positive for the Omicron variant while a third case is still awaiting results.

All three of the cases are fully vaccinated and they have mild symptoms.

MOH added that they are ring-fencing the cases and contact tracing is underway.

The trio comprises an 18-year-old female student from Ngee Ann Polytechnic who was last in school on 15 December, a 21-year-old male student at Sdunrice GlobalChef Academy who had not been to school recently, and a 24-year-old male who is unemployed.

All three of them had no recent travel history.

Investigations revealed that they had visited the gym between 15 December to 17 December and all staff and visitors to the gym who are identified to be close contacts of the cases will be quarantined.

Other visitors who have been to the gym between 15 to 176 December will be issued a Health Risk Warning.
