MOUNTAIN IN KAZAKHSTAN IS NAME AFTER SG FIRST ELECT PRESIDENT!

It is reported that a soaring mountain that extend along the border between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China in the middle of remote Tien Shan bears a name that is well known to Singapore: Ong Teng Cheong peak.

On June 28 2017 it was officially recognised by the Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation of Kazahkstan with naming of 4,743m tall mountain naming after Singapore’s first elected president.

It is alleged to be the foremost mountain in the world entitled after a Singaporean.

On July 29, 2005 the peak was first conquered by a team from Singapore.

Kazakhstan offers a individual the honour of christening a mountain if he was the foremost to climb it, and has yield to documents such as a testimony of its exact geographical whereabouts and the mountaineering route for endorsement.

SHOULD OUR ELDERLY IN SG STILL BE WORKING TILL THEIR 70s TO SURVIVE?

“He pointed out that much of the developed world already had “non-contributory pensions” – or handouts – for low-income older folk, saving them the indignity of hard labour at a time in life when many may want to retire and rest.”

“During his visit to Singapore, he had come across-elderly people cleaning tables, a security guard who ‘looked to be in his late 70s’ directing traffic in the hot sun while an elderly, emaciated beggar accosted him in Tiong Bahru.

‘I am all for active ageing, but if you have never had a decent job, don’t know what job satisfaction is, to make you work till you practically drop dead, is not human,’ he says.”

SG YOUNGEST ATHLETE FOR THIS SEA GAMES IN SAILING @ 13 YEARS OLD ALL THE BEST!

Say hello to Radiance Koh!

At 13 years old, Radiance is #TeamSingapore’s youngest athlete. She’s been sailing since she was 8, and she’s so good at it and she qualified for the national squad just 2 years later!
While this will be Radiance’s first appearance at major games, she’s been performing consistently well at local and overseas regattas in the Optimist class. We wish her the best of luck and hope she bags a medal tomorrow.

Court of Appeal verdict
As you know by now, the Court of Appeal has dismissed my appeal. I am disappointed, as are all my supporters, because we had hoped to contest in this PE (through the deliberative track) after I lost narrowly (0.34%) in PE 2011. Nevertheless, I am very comforted to know that many of you were strongly supporting me in this case. I never felt alone. For that, I sincerely thank every one of you.

Some may say that my court application was a fool’s errand. But I do not see it that way. When MP Sylvia Lim asked the Government in Parliament why they chose to start the count of 5 presidential terms with President Wee Kim Wee (resulting in 2017 being a reserved election year), the Government challenged her to go to Court for an answer. That is wrong and I felt the need to respond. I firmly believe the Government should have answered in Parliament instead of challenging a Parliamentarian to go to Court.

So I filed a case to argue what most Singaporeans felt was proper, that the count should start with the 1st Elected President Ong Teng Cheong (which would result in 2023 being a reserved election year). The Court of Appeal, however, decided that as a matter of law, the Government has discretion to start the count with President Wee Kim Wee. They issued a 66 page long judgment detailing full legal reasons. Now that the Court of Appeal has had the final say, I accept the verdict – but with a heavy heart.

My team and I will now rest, regroup and re-energise ourselves. I promise you, I will always speak up for Singaporeans and do my very best for our country.

Meanwhile, let me be first to wish the participants of the coming reserved PE 2017 all the best, and to do your very best for our country!

MCDONALD’S NASI LEMAK BURGER IS COMING BACK SOON

0

Fans of McDonald’s gone-too-soon Nasi Lemak burger can finally get their hands on the most controversial burger soon! The burger is due for it’s big return at the end of August.

The burger was mysteriously replaced by the unimaginative McSpicy with egg, which left fans in a confused state. According to McDonalds, the burgers ran out and they could not keep up with the overwhelming demand. The set was first made available 2 weeks before National Day, complimented with the Chendol McFlurry and Bandung McFizz. All of these will reappear soon.

Those people who have not tried the burger due to the long queues can finally get a taste of it.

BREAD TALK STEAMCAKE TURNED MOLDY EVEN BEFORE EXPIRY DATE!!!

I love Breadtalk steam cake so yesterday (22Aug2017) from City Square Mall outlet I bought a pack which comes with 3 pieces of different flavors individually packed nicely arranged side by side in another bigger clear plastic bag which was printed BEST BEFORE 23Aug2017

So when i reached home open the external packing pass the orange flavor cake to my elderly father who is 84 year old, then went to make my coffee getting ready to eat. Before i tear the individual packaging i saw black spots on the yellow steam cake initially thought was those red bean paste but remembered these doesn’t come with fillings at all! Yucks!!!
Checked on another piece the yam flavor and saw it has yellow spot the 3rd piece was already eaten up by my  father cause he didnt check anyway his eyesight wasn’t that good either! OMG hopefully he dont fall sick!
I am going to ban Breadtalk and had shared on my FB to warn friends not to buy or at least check all pre-pack food before consumption even though it is before its expiry date(s).
Then I do a search on internet and found someone has post the same issue.

HELPER WHO DONT SPEAK ENGLISH WENT MISSING IN NORTHPOINT. SERVICE COUNTER INSIST TO PAGE ENGLISH.

This happened at Northpoint Shopping centre, 22/8/2017.

I couldn’t find my Indonesian helper, who cannot understand English, for about an hour already.

I went to customer service and there were a few staff. I asked them to help me page for my non speaking English domestic helper.

This was the conversation between myself and a staff, whom I think is a Malay (there were Malay staff)

Me: can you help me to page for my maid in Malay language because she
doesn’t understand English.

Staff(S): No, we have to page in English as it’s our regulation.

Me: please help me to say it in Malay language as my helper really cannot understand English.

S: No, we cannot.

Me: alright then, can you help me to page her in English?

S: paging………. please PROCEED …… etc

Me: can you please change the word proceed to “come” instead as my helper really cannot understand this word. She should be able to understand “come”

S: NO, cannot. It’s the company procedure. We cannot change it.
(I could see the side glare that her colleagues and herself were giving me. As if I am a trouble maker).

Finally, I told them I wanted to meet the Manager after my repeated request were REJECTED.

Fortunately, they came and went extra mile by deploying all security personnel at each level to look out for my helper and they finally they located her.

I was impressed with the higher management efficiency.

However, the front line staff is not flexible and rigid with attitude problem. Imagine I was already so worried and asking for help and there she was, rejecting my request to page in Malay language.
