A parent in Malaysia received a note from an English teacher explaining why her daughter’s grade was not as expected. As it turns out the teacher’s English is even worse!

Mother post on Facebook: “Govt has come up with TP rating for those studying in govt school. My girl was given TP 4 for English and remark given was she does not understand the language. My girl is well versed in her spoken and written English having scored A in her English exam always and has won best reader awards since Preschool. A man who just stepped out of a Maybank outlet located at Muar(Malaysia) was approached by two men dressed in black. They claim that they were custom officers and said that his vehicle does not have insurance and they will need to bring him to the Police station.
The man who was worried immediately called his parents and the parents warned that it might be a scam. She then told her son to verify the identity of the men before doing anything.
When the man asked the duo for identification cards, they produce a slip of paper and flick it in his face for a second. (How to see?)
RM4000 to settle the problem
They later told the man that they can settle the problem with a small fee, only RM4,000 will be enough to settle the fee, or his vehicle will be towed away and the Police will be here. The man then took advice from his mother and told the two scammers “ok lets wait for the police and tow truck to arrive”.
RM100 also can
The man then told the scammers that he only has RM100. The two scammers then continued to threaten that they will have to “make trouble” for him if he does not pay up. They continuously mentioned that a tow truck and police will come soon.
Moments later, the scammers started to tell the man that RM500 is also enough to settle the problem. The man insists that he only has RM100, they can take it if they want to.
Finally the scammers told the man that they will accept the offer of RM100, this is when the man played smart and said now i only have RM30. The frustrated duo who could not scam the man quickly left the scene.

Some of my friends may know, I work in the engineering sector and suffered from very bad skin problems since my employment during May-Aug 2018 due to exposure to hazardous materials without protection. I had no knowledge that the fire insulation materials I was interacting with were hazardous back then as the company failed to inform and provide appropriate PPE. Until now I am still suffering from frequent bad flare-ups.
Skin problems surfaced within 2 weeks into the job, I was puzzled on why my skin became so bad suddenly and tried to clean my room and office chair etc in hope of improving the skin condition, but to no avail.
I only found out about the material hazard almost 3 months into the job upon seeing the safety precautions on the boxes in the factory and by doing some research thereafter.
As I have sensitive skin(atopic), it is much harder for me to recover from the irritant contact dermatitis that have been worsening the whole time while working in this company and is much more damaging to my life in terms of the lifestyle and activity changes required to prevent relapses.
This company deals with shutter doors, and in recent years they shifted their focus to fire-insulated shutter doors which involve the use of insulation materials in their shutter door products.
For their insulated rolling shutters, they integrated Refractory Ceramic Fibers and silica blankets into the metal shutter door which are subjected to vigorous vibrations, rubbing, stretching and knocking during operation which is unpracticed in the industry. Usually, these man-made fibers materials are used in applications that do not subject them to physical disturbances or are properly sealed to prevent release of dusts.
Based on the material data sheet and some research of the insulation material, Refractory Ceramic Fibers (RCF). Besides skin problems, they may cause cancer and must be handled in accordance to certain dust rules that prevents the release of dust of the material as these dusts are highly insoluble and can cause serious problems if they enter the body.
Even if exposure is stopped, the trapped dusts in the lungs could continue to develop progressive incurable lung diseases as the immune system reacts against them. Animal tests indicated occurrences of plural plagues and mesothelioma from exposed subjects.
I questioned my manager on why proper safety procedures were not in place and got a “troublesome” as a reply. Upon finding out the seriousness of possible health consequences, I left the company ASAP, and later decided to report the case to MOM. I was later concluded to be suffering from irritant contact dermatitis in the joint session involving MOM doctors.
I found out that MOM officers went to conduct an investigation at the company after I filed the report. As I felt this is an important investigation for me, I requested for details on the investigation by MOM and gave more details on my side to try to ensure the team carry out a proper investigation. The investigation officer told me that investigation details are confidential and can’t be revealed to me (even though I am the victim).
After much appeals and requests for transparency on the investigation results, I got informed that they addressed the company on safety concerns and will take no further action, also stating the result of an air sampling test, arranged by the company and not subjected to the activities I engaged in, yields a concentration of the dust that is ‘not high’.
I was unhappy with the verdict and repeatedly questioned them on why no actions was taken despite the many irresponsible decisions and actions by the company over a series of emails and appeals to the MP.
They then revealed that they did not uncover any offences by the company in their inspection and that the case is closed. I appealed again and again to request to understand their investigation findings but was repeatedly told it is confidential and case is closed.
For such serious health consequences I faced and may face in the future due to irresponsible decisions by the employer for convenience or for cost-cutting sake, I am denied a chance to understand if a fair investigation had been carried out, with MOM concluding that they did not uncover any offences by the company.
This makes me wonder if we are really protected as citizens and treated with justice and equality in Singapore?
Kindly share to spread awareness on the possible treatment one may face if they encounter similar problems at work in Singapore. Especially jobs with physical exposure. What would you do if you face such a situation?
Locals who read the news would know who is Kurt Tay.The man who previously had breast implants and later removed it.
And a big fan of wrestling
Kurt send a message to our page: “I Kenna prank by a Hater pretending to be a Mediacorp Producer “
It seems that someone is putting him up on a prank, he received a number stating that he would have an interview at Mediacorp and will be paying him S$1,100 a day but as it turns out it was too good to be true.
If the prank is an actual prank it would be an elaborate prank.
It went through using dates negotiation and even wanted his parents to join in and meet the “interviewer at Mediacorp.
Kurt ended up taking an unpaid to leave to go for the interview at Mediacorp after he reached he realised that his name was not registered and he waited for nothing.
He contacts the number and asked if its a prank. He got a reply stating that they were actually looking for Kurt Tan, not Kurt Tay.
You organise a run in the heart of Singapore, closing roads in the CBD, Marina area, Keppel area, and some parts of West Coast and East Coast from 1.30pm. Sure.
You then take it a step further by choosing a Saturday for your race, and a flag-off time from 6pm, with many of the major roads closed from 1pm till 1.30am the next day. This, I’m afraid, is a decision that reeks of nothing but stupidity and selfishness.
One look at the full listing of roads that are scheduled to be closed and anyone with a brain will know that it’s going to be a disaster.
It’s less than a month to Christmas, and there are events happening all over the island. Some have important family functions, and others are doing Christmas shopping. Some are heading for a concert, and others are rushing for their flights with several luggages in tow. Then there are weddings in every ballroom in every hotel all over the island, and there are people who need to travel by car/van simply because there are things to transport (e.g. bulky sound system, big instruments like cello/harp). Wedding attendees, who are decked in their best for the evening, will also mostly be driving.
You come out to say that the race area is well-served by the MRT, and commuters are encouraged to take the MRT as their primary mode of transport. Any idiot would know that not everyone is able to hop on the MRT just like that, especially on a Saturday evening where the MRT is already packed even without the road closures.
You clog up the entire Singapore with the worst jam of the decade bringing traffic islandwide to a complete standstill, no thanks to your road closures on a Saturday evening, no less.
Simply put, you cannot simply close roads to make way for a run on a Saturday evening, because it affects a lot of people – many of whom are working.
To my friend who spent close to 4 full hours in a jam travelling from Sentosa to Fullerton Hotel, I feel for you. To my other friend who had to wheel her harp down Nicoll Highway while rushing for a performance, I feel for you. To another friend who was stuck in a taxi with a full bladder only to reach her destination with a $55 fare, I feel for you. To the lady in a lovely gown who was a wedding organiser at a wedding I attended last evening and had no choice but to park somewhere else while making a dash to the hotel with bags of wedding photo albums in tow, I feel for you. To all my friends who were affected by the road closures with every other person posting on social media, I really do feel for you. I was caught in the dreaded jam too.
To the organisers of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, for heaven’s sake, please don’t organize a Saturday evening race again. Have some compassion, even if you don’t have a brain.
According to a media release, PMD users will soon need to pass a theory test that and the minimum age for riders must be at least 16-years-old.
Other than the theory test and the minimum age the following a recommendation from Active Mobility Advisory Panel that the users will require a 3rd party insurance will be required for those that used the PMD for commercial purposes such as Grab delivery.
No use of mobile phones will be allowed when riding the PMD, but the mobile phone can be mounted, which is similar to a car.
However, PMD riders are still only allowed to ride on cycling path and park connectors. No changes to the footpath ban have been made.
So far, no date of this implementation has been announced yet
