COUPLE LENT HARD EARNED MONEY TO FRIEND, MONEY DISAPPEARS

0

A lady shared a story of how her husband and herself decided to lend a friend who was in need a substantial sum of money in the past and did not get a single cent back.

The friend was going through some tough times and decided to approach the couple for help and even gave them a plan on how she would return it but nevertheless, did not keep to her word.

Here is the story

“My husband and I both screwed up about a few months ago. Newly married, just bought a house. We thought we were saving a friend by giving a substantial amount of money to help keep her in her house she was renting. She was falling on hard times, struggling to keep a job while putting herself through school for a degree in business. She has been a good friend of ours for years and is reliable/good on her word. She promised to pay us back at the end of November and gave us a plan on how she was going to do it.

Her landlord was going to evict her unless she came up with two months of rent. My husband and I talked for a few hours until we came to the agreement that we would give her and her boyfriend the money. We knew the risk we were taking but we still trusted them.

We then sent them the money

About a week later, she is evicted because she did not take the money to return the landlord and instead spent it on something else. Her deposit was forfeited to make up for the rent arrears and our money is also gone.

Two months later neither of them have been able to find reasonable work to be able to live and pay us back.

Just found out they are planning to go to another country in order for better opportunities.

Seems like any chance of us getting our money back ever is slim to none at this point and it all had just disappeared like that.

I am so angry that I agreed to do this at all at this point.”

MAN WANTS TO MARRY PRC WOMAN WHO IS YET TO DIVORCE, NETIZEN WARNS HIM

0

I have known my girlfriend from China who is working here as a quality control technician. She is undergoing divorce and needs to go back China to settle the paperwork soon.

She has a son of about 9 years old, and his studies has not been good over there. If I apply to bring both of them to Singapore to live here after she is done with the divorce, I am worried her son is not able to adapt to the learning environment over here. And what are my options if her son can’t cope with the education here which is English oriented? We plan to get married after she comes over to Singapore. Will there be any other challenges when I apply both of them to live here?

Here are what netizens think:

  • The boy has to learn to cope lor. It’ll be harder for him to learn a new language because he’s a bit older, but no choice if you want to start a life in a new country. That’s just how it is. You should be more worried about yourself having to look after 2 new people here.
  • Just a caution, make sure they are not here to leech on you to sponsor studies and living expense. We have heard stories about foreigner marrying to SG to obtain benefits but the wife was still maintaining r/s with original hubby.
  • When there is confirmation of the divorce then plan? Why the hurry? Also kinda sus that she’s getting a bf when she’s still legally married…I mean, divorce not even finalised and here u both are planning for the kid to study here and all? Isn’t that a little too rushed? Maybe you should take a step back and consider or ask her if she didn’t meet u in SG what her plans would be for her son and her in the event of a divorce..if she has a solid plan then fine, if not then you most probably are her meal ticket. Just saying.
  • how do you know she is going back for divorced? I have seen my colleague marrying Chinese lady with kid end up being a cash cow. Lost the house and still need to pay maintenance. something is fishy. Hopefully I am wrong.

Sign a prenup. She will tell you sob stories about somebody dying in her village or selling a cheap house and ask you to buy in her name only AFTER the marriage: When that happens, annul the marriage and run as far away as you can.

GRABFOOD RIDER DRINKS CUSTOMER’S MILO BEFORE DELIVERING IT, CAUGHT ON CCTV

A GrabFood rider in Singapore allegedly took sips from a customer’s Milo drink from McDonald’s before delivering it, and this unsettling episode has sparked concerns about food delivery safety and hygiene.

The Unsettling Encounter

The incident came to light when TikTok user @haziquehibri shared his disturbing experience on Thursday, September 7th. He had recently placed an order for a meal from McDonald’s through the GrabFood platform.

In the CCTV video, the scene unfolds with a man dressed in GrabFood’s recognizable uniform. He is seen holding a McDonald’s cup with both hands and placing it against his face, drinking from it for at least five seconds. This unsettling footage was captured by the condominium’s intercom system.

Initially, @haziquehibri thought that the GrabFood rider had purchased a drink for himself while waiting for the order. However, his perception shifted when the rider arrived at his doorstep carrying just one drink.

Upon receiving the drink, @haziquehibri noticed that the cup’s mouthpiece was wet. He confronted the rider, revealing that he had observed him drinking from the cup on the surveillance camera.

In response, the rider appeared puzzled and simply uttered, “HUH?”

The video concludes with @haziquehibri expressing shock over the rider’s high five-star rating and questioning whether the rider might be working on other food delivery platforms.

While empathizing with food delivery riders and understanding that they may get thirsty during their work, @haziquehibri urged them to take a drink off him instead of passing a beverage they had put their lips on.

According to @haziquehibri, this unsettling incident occurred on August 31st after he had ordered a Double McSpicy Meal via GrabFood.

While initially considering eating the food that came with the meal, he eventually discarded both the meal and the drink, stating that he “didn’t quite have the appetite.”

Grab’s Response

Following @haziquehibri’s revelations, GrabFood provided an update on the situation via Instagram. The food delivery giant informed the public that they had issued a full refund to the customer.

This gesture came after Hazique informed Grab about his decision to discard the entire meal. Initially, GrabFood had offered $4 refund.

@haziquehibri can’t believe this is what ends up being my first ever TikTok 💀 #fooddelivery #grabfood #service #unclestengmymilo #unclecheckforpoison #goodbyeMILOver ♬ original sound – haziquehibri

MAN FINDS OUT CHILD’S IMAGINARY FRIEND IS HIS DEAD GRANDFATHER

0

A man shared how he found out that his daughter has an imaginary friend who was his grandfather, who had passed away.

Here is the story:

A little back story: my mother’s biological father passed away at the age of 26, while my grandma was still pregnant with my mother. As such. I’ve only ever seen photos of my grandpa.

Well, one day, I hear my kid talking to someone in her room. I go to check. I knock and enter and she’s sitting on her bed talking to no one.

I think nothing of it. Days go by and she mentions that “David says he’s proud of you”. Okay, thats weird. I ask who and what he looks like.

She tells me “like you, dad. He says he’s my great-grandpa”. None of her grandpa’s look like me, except my father who is in prison, and she’s never met him.

Fast forward a couple months, and my mom is looking through an old family photo album with her. She comes across my grandpa’s photo. Kid exclaims “thats my friend! I talk to him all the time!”

My only real explanation would be that she saw a picture and made a real imaginary friend from it. Only issue is, she knows details she shouldn’t.

Like that he died in a car accident, when he lost control and crashed into the side of the road. And she didn’t use those exact words, but the specific wording was childish, like children’s languiage, and its easier for me to just state it like that.

And mind you, this started when she 7. She’s now almost 9. This is her first imaginary friend (other than talking to her toys).

Netizen’s comments

This gave me chills. Also your daughter may have a gift. 9 is pretty old to see spirits/ghosts. Kids that are connected in that way usually lose that ability as they get older.

David has probably been around you and the family a long time. Fascinating that he chose her, or she chose him to communicate directly with.

HAZEL POA FILES TO SUSPEND MINISTER ISWARAN AS MP TO STOP HIM GETTING HIS $193K ALLOWANCE

0

Hazel Poa, the Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) representing the Progress Singapore Party (PSP), has recently filed a motion requesting the suspension of Transport Minister S Iswaran’s Member of Parliament (MP) status.

This move follows the ongoing investigation of Mr. Iswaran by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).

In her Facebook post on September 8, Ms. Poa stated that she initiated the motion on September 7, aiming to suspend Mr. Iswaran “for the remainder of the current session of the 14th Parliament.”

Ms. Poa’s rationale behind her motion is that Mr. Iswaran should not continue to receive his MP allowance, which amounts to S$192,500 (US$141,152) annually, while he has been directed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong not to perform any official duties during the investigation.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong previously said in his Ministerial Statement on August 2 that Iswaran was interdicted and his salary would be reduced to S$8,500 per month during his suspension.

According to the Public Service Division, the amount is about 15% of the benchmark level of the ministerial salary of $55,000 per month, and Iswaran is also still allowed to draw his annual MP allowance of $192,500, according to Channel NewsAsia.

The Ongoing Debate

Yesterday, I filed a motion for Parliament to suspend Mr S Iswaran from the service of Parliament for the remainder of the current session of the 14th Parliament, so that he no longer receives his MP allowance of $192,500 per year while he has been requested by the Prime Minister to not perform any official duties during his investigation by CPIB. The motion will be debated in Parliament on or after 19th September 2023.

At the next sitting of Parliament, I will also introduce a Private Member’s Bill to amend the Parliament (Privileges, Immunities and Powers) Act 1962 to ensure that Parliament has the power to back-pay Minister Iswaran should he subsequently be cleared of any wrongdoing and resume his official duties.

WOMAN WANTS TO GIVE UP SUCCESSFUL CAREER TO BE A HOUSEWIFE

0

A woman shared how she wants to give up her career and the success that she has found, in exchange for being a traditional housewife.

Here is the story:

I want to quit my job and become a traditional housewife.

Not the juiciest confession, honestly. But it’s hard to communicate to even my fiancé without getting weird looks.

I met my fiancé back in 2010, but we just on and off dated until 2021, when we began dating fully. He proposed last year.

Throughout all of our history I have been a career-focused woman. I am extremely proud of myself for the success I’ve found, but it’s somewhat unfulfilling. Before I met him I never would’ve thought of it, I probably would’ve laughed any implication of the sort off.

He’s a sweet, loving, kind gentleman. Gentleman is the only way to describe it, he’s respectful of me and my wishes. He’s dreamy in the 1950s ideal nuclear husband way. And god, I never knew that was my type before him.

We have a beautiful home that I enjoy taking care of. His reaction to the foods I cook and bake, or the little projects I take up gives me a million times more joy than any milestone or achievement I’ve had over the course of my career.

Worst of all, I know that I could quit and he could easily support our household, no if ands or buts about it. He’s successful and makes enough to support us easily. But I can’t quit. My family perceives me as a headstrong, hardcore feminist, career woman. And it’s not that I’m not, I firmly believe in gender equality and I’m damn proud of what I’ve done.

But I desperately crave being a stay-at-home mum, the picturesque “housewife” image. I want nothing more than to cook, clean, care for the children and take care of my husband when he isn’t working. But my family, friends, even his friends would judge me terribly for doing so.

I know I just can’t do this, and it’s making me somewhat sad. Just wanted to get it off my chest.

Editor’s note: If you can dream it, you can achieve it. If you want it, you better go get it.

GUY FORGOT TO CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION, WASTED ALMOST $10,000

0

A guy shared a story of how he realised that he did not cancel a subscription for something which he had subscribed for in the past and ended up wasting almost $10,000 on the subscription which he no longer follows.

By the time he had realised it, it was almost three and a half years later.

Here is the story

“The mistake which I made isn’t one of just today, it’s one that’s been going on for about 3.5 years.

I have been fairly financially independent for about 5 years now. Due to my monthly income, I also just don’t check my bank account since I know the money will be there for all the things I would buy since I don’t live too extravagant a life.

I met my wife a little over 3.5 years ago. Before I met her, I was subscribed to a few people on a fans site totaling about $250 a month. Once I started dating my now wife, I stopped going to that site and totally forgot about all the subscriptions I had there.

During the last couple of days, I’ve been helping a friend figure out how to go about starting and maximising on an account on the fans site, getting more people to view his page and content, and figuring out a niche which he can explore.

While doing research I stumbled upon my old account, and realised that I was still subscribed to all those accounts. Upon discovering it, I went through and cancelled all the subscriptions since I don’t need them.

I also went through and calculated the amount spent over the time… I spent $10500 in subscriptions in 3.5 years without even paying attention to it.

Even though it didn’t affect much of my finances as I was quite financially stable, it is still quite a big amount considering that I could have used the money to do so many other things.”

WOMAN USED HER TEETH TO CHEW THROUGH SECURITY CABLE TO STEAL AN IPHONE 14 PLUS

0

In a world filled with strange and inexplicable events, a recent incident in China managed to capture the attention of the masses.

A woman, surnamed Qiu, from Fujian province in southeastern China, became an overnight sensation when she resorted to an unconventional method to steal an iPhone 14 Plus worth 7,000 yuan (S$1,323).

What makes this story truly bizarre is her audacious act of chewing through an anti-theft cable in a store to steal the coveted device.

This peculiar incident quickly spread like wildfire across Chinese social media platforms, leaving everyone bewildered and intrigued by the lengths some people will go to satisfy their material desires.

The Unusual Heist

The story begins with surveillance footage from the shop that shows Qiu standing in front of a display, her right hand resting on the coveted iPhone.

She carefully examined the device for a few moments, her intentions hidden behind a seemingly innocent facade. Then, in an audacious move, she bit down on the security cable several times.

Qiu’s determination was evident as she continued chewing through the cable until it was severed. With the phone in hand and the deed done, she casually placed it in her bag and made her exit.

The Deceptive Calm

As Qiu made her escape, an alarm sounded in the store, alerting the staff to the theft in progress. However, the initial reaction of the staff was far from what one might expect.

Qiu had managed to blend in seamlessly with the other customers by pretending to scroll through the phone’s screen, acting completely normally. Her remarkable composure in the face of the alarm left the staff oblivious to the unfolding drama.

It was only a matter of time before the shop employees discovered the chewed cable and the missing phone. Their shock quickly turned into action as they promptly notified the police.

The Motive Behind the Unconventional Heist

According to reports from Sina News, Qiu initially entered the store with the intention of purchasing a new phone to replace her lost one.

However, when she came face to face with the price tag of the iPhone 14 Plus, she had a change of heart. The exorbitant cost of the device seemed to deter her, leading to her decision to steal it instead.

Within just 30 minutes of leaving the store, Qiu’s audacious act caught up with her. The police eventually arrested her outside her home, just 30 minutes after her theft.

GUY PASSES DAD HIS PHONE, FORGOT TO PAUSE ‘ADULT’ SHOW

0

A guy shared a story of how he once passed his phone to his dad after his mum called looking for him but he forgot to pause the ‘films’ that he was watching.

He only realised it after his Dad had hung up the phone with his mum while the video continued playing and explicit noises were heard at full volume.

Here is the story

“So this was actually a while back when I was still in my schooling days.

It was a long stressful day because I had the longest period of Math that day, something which I really detested.

I just got back from school and decided I was gonna head over to the bathroom and choke the chicken whilst watching some explicit content.

I was about 5 minutes in when I received a call from my mother who was at work.

I picked up the phone and she said to hand my phone to my dad (My dad rarely ever picks up his phone).

So I walked out of the bathroom while still at ‘attention’ and handed the phone to my dad.

They had their conversation, and my mother hung up.

The moment they ended the conversation, the explicit content continued playing on my phone and the volume of the noises of the actress was at full blast and could be heard clearly.

As soon as I heard it I immediately snatched my phone from my father’s hand.

He asked me what was that that was playing and I was like oh that was just some weird YouTube video I was watching.

He gave me that look before passing the phone back to me and told me to not make a big mess.

I then rushed back to the bathroom in embarrassment and continued what I was doing.”

TAN KIN LIAN CONSIDERS LEGAL ACTION ON THE DOZENS WHO “SMEARED & DEFAMED” HIM

0

Former presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian said in a series of Facebook posts that he met up with a lawyer to discuss legal action that he could take against “several dozen people who smeared and defamed” him during the presidential campaign.

He warned that the “potential damages could be substantial” as he urged his followers to send a link of any posts on Facebook or TikTok that “insults or smears” him.

He also lamented about receiving more than 100 new visitors from the “smearing machine” and shared that he “had to delete and ban” some of them for “insults, mischief and nonsense”, including from his “friends”.

Tan also warned his followers to “avoid giving advice that are not necessary”.

Tan Kin Lian’s rants on Facebook

I saw a lawyer at One Coleman Street to discuss the legal action that I can take against several dozen people who smeared and defamed me during the presidential campaign.

Afternote.

My lawyer confirmed that the statements that labelled me as racist and the derogatory names associated with the “pretty girl” episode are defamatory.

I am discussing with the lawyer on the next step that I can take.

The harm caused by these defamatory messages is serious, but the potential damages could be substantial.

When you see a post on Facebook that insults or smears me, you can help me by immediately reporting to Facebook that the post is harassment or contains false information.

You can also send a link to me, so that I can also report the harassment or falsehood directly

You can do the same in Tik Tok.

Several people asked me to sue the ex-diplomat for defamation. It is easy for them to give this kind of “irresponsible advice”. I want to tell them what to expect.

It will cost over $100,000 to launch a defamation suit, maybe more. The chance of winning is not clear, especially when one is suing a party that is part of the establishment. I am not implying that our legal system is unfair, but this is a factor that I have to take into account. Even my lawyer cautioned me from taking this course.

If it is the other way round, i.e. an establishment figure suing an opponent, the chance of winning is higher, even if the case is weak.

So, for people who wants to speak with bravado, I have to delete their comments. They may think that they are smart, or helpful to me, but they are actually causing a lot of problem by speaking irresponsibly.

Some of my regular followers were upset when their posts were deleted.

I did not intend to upset them. I might have deleted them by mistake and deflated their ego.

I want them to know what has been happening. Over the past three days, I received over 100 new visitors, from the “smearing machine” who were posted all kinds of insults, mischief and nonsense. I had to delete and ban them. In the process, I have also deleted some of the comments from “my friends”.

If your comment has been deleted, you can repost them.

Please keep to the topic and avoid giving “advice” that are not necessary. I also delete comments that are out of topic.
