0

The Singapore government is considering allowing cats in HDB flats, and Nee Soon MP Louis Ng shared the updates on his Facebook.

Ng said that he had been “pushing for this for more than a quarter of my life,’ campaigning for it in parliament and finding support from Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan Jin and president of Singapore’s Law Society Adrian Tan.

Louis Ng’s Facebook statement

[ Allow cats in HDB? ]

I’ve been pushing this for more than a quarter of my life. Am SO SO SO glad the government is finally seriously reviewing and exploring allowing cats in HDB. Do share your views at: http://go.gov.sg/catsg (3 Sept – 2 Nov)

The government is also considering:

– Expanding the existing pet dog licensing and microchipping scheme to include pet cats.

– Extending the Trap-Neuter-Rehome/Release-Manage (TNRM) programme for free-roaming dogs to community cats.

– New engagement and outreach programmes to promote responsible cat ownership, the adoption of cats, and responsible caregiving for community cats.

It’s good news that so many of us have waited a long time for. Help spread the word

ELDERLY CLEANER DIED ALONE @ HOUGANG FLAT, FOUND 3 DAYS LATER FOAMING AT THE MOUTH

0

A 63-year-old elderly woman, Mdm Hong Jinzhu, who worked as a cleaner, passed away alone at her Hougang flat, and her body was only found after she failed to show up for work for 3 days and a colleague went to check in on her.

She was found foaming at the mouth and lying motionless on the ground when her co-worker found her, according to Shin Min Daily News.

The deceased’s body was discovered on 2 September at about 11.46am, inside her flat on the 3rd storey of Block 2 Hougang Avenue 3.

She worked as a cleaner at a coffeeshop at Block 327 Hougang Avenue 5, and reportedly lived alone in her Hougang flat.

Previously had asthma attack but didn’t take leave

Her coworker who discovered her body, 68-year-old Mr Wang, spoke to SMDN and said that Hong had previously suffered an asthma attack but didn’t take MC, which happened about 7 days before her body was found.

That day, her supervisor found out about her condition and made her take leave to rest at home, and she was supposed to return to work 3 days ago but didn’t show up.

She was known to be very responsible and wouldn’t skip work without reason, and her colleagues were puzzled as to why she didn’t turn up for work.

She also wasn’t answering her phone calls and Wang was then asked by the supervisor to visit Hong at her home.

When he arrived outside her flat, he saw that her lights were still on, and despite knocking on her door for 10 minutes, there was no answer.

He then peeked inside the flat through a half-open window and saw her lying motionless on the ground beside the sofa and foaming at the mouth.

Wang then hurriedly alerted the police.

Homicide ruled out

The Singapore Police Force confirmed that they had received a report on a case of unnatural death on 2 September, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The authorities also found letters and medicine next to her body.

Police investigations are currently ongoing, and they have also ruled out homicide as the cause of her death.

Colleagues donated to her funeral

The elderly woman was known by her neighbours to be friendly to small children, and she was seen in the lift on 1 September at about 3pm and didn’t look unwell.

Hong’ supervisor, 62-year-old Mdm Chen, said that she has known Hong for about 40 years and had introduced her to the cleaning job at the coffeeshop.

Chen didn’t know how to contact Hong’s relatives, and will be handling her funeral arrangements with colleagues who also donated towards her funeral expenses despite her being in the job for only half a year.

RIDER CLAIMS THAT THE ADDITIONAL BONUS PROMISED BY FOOD PANDA IS NOT PAID

Every food delivery company has their own set of incentives for doing the job deliveries but a rider send a message to Singapore Uncensored stating that the bonus incentives were not paid.

He added that this is not the first time that had happened.

FoodPanda Rush

On FoodPanda’s website, it states that:

  • Make up to +$3 per order when you complete orders in the starting points and time periods we announce on an ad-hoc basis in Telegram.
  • These incentives will be labeled as “Panda Rush” on Telegram.

The rider who wrote the complaint said:

Food panda announced panda rush means additional bonus per order to rider and end up didn’t pay rider .
It’s not the first time happen already. They always announced giving additional bonus per trip to rider and end up never pay the rider.

$4.69 per job which means the additional bonus they announced didn’t add in.

Delivery rider sacrifice their rest to come out work but got scam instead and worst its not the first them. Government don’t takes action against it ? Its like company said giving a fixed salary and end up taking in back.

Pls let public know

MAN BOUGHT CAMERA FROM LAZADA AND RECEIVED A PIECE OF CARDBOARD INSTEAD

0

Facebook user Niraj Agarwal shared how he placed an order via Lazada for a Canon camera and when he received his parcel, all he found inside was a piece of cardboard.

Here is what he said

I want to complain why Lazada cannot screen seller’s legitimacy before on-boarding them in Singapore. Ordered a Canon Camera and received a slice of cardboard ! ( seller account is closed now ) .

Waiting for lazada to take action: if you order something , don’t let your family or anyone open parcel and throw away packaging else cannot claim against fake scammer sellers.

Netizens’ comments

  • can request refund or not?
  • Overseas seller is it? Singapore seller, Lazada request for ACRA/ Bizfile documents to see if you are registered. Otherwise I think they suspended several sellers cos they never submitted the documents on time.
  • Why would they send cardboard? I also think as sellers sometimes life difficult.. some customers sure also play punk wan..they will open packaging.. take away item and claim nothing came so they can get free items. Like i heard those grab delivery also…driver send to door but customer say never receive.
  • This is why I steered away from Lazada. They can’t be bothered to check. At least Shopee has some measures in place to check and recognise authentic/authorised sellers
  • Happened to me before, ordered a car seat headrest and received an empty small packaging. However, the seller has the decency to reply back to me and explained the issue, and got refunded as well.

AIRCON CONTRACTORS DAMAGED MAN’S WINDOWS DURING INSTALLATION, REFUSED RESPONSIBILITY

0

Facebook user Vincent K Zen shared how he bought a Daikin aircon from Harvey Normal and when they installers came to install the new aircon at his home, which is under renovation, they allegedly damaged his windows.

He also added that Harvey Norman allegedly refused to accept liability for the damages, saying that it has been 3 weeks since the removal of the aircon compressor.

Here is what he said

Purchased Daikin aircon from Harvey Norman, their installers damaged the new windows when they removed the old compressor from the aircon ledge.

Harvey Norman refused to accept liability, saying it’s been 3 weeks since the compressor’s removal. We had not seen the damage.

My place is under renovations and no one is living inside. The windows and the floors are covered up in preparation for painting.

The damaged area on the window is hard to see when the window is closed. There are alot of grey dust around the window as there had been hacking and subsequent plastering.

It’s only after cleaning that we noticed the damage. Beware when purchasing air conditioners from Harvey Norman.

Netizens’ comments

  1. Owners shld try to b present during aircon installation or at least right after. The workers, some of them, may accidentally damage windows or scrap walls that kinda thing, and they wont remember or notice.
  2. Shd went down and see the aircon installation if they damage it on the spot settle, even you can’t go down, arrange your contractor or ID to help jaga
  3. Is always the owner of the house to checked and verify all the works done by any contractors who just finished the work, at least you can pin point who is responsible, but now already more than 3 weeks, anything can happen. It will be unfair just to blame the aircon contractor, unless you have proof…

TADA DRIVER ALLEGEDLY DROPPED PAX OFF IN MIDDLE OF ROAD & ALMOST RAN THEM OVER

0

Facebook user Nurul Yuyun shared how she took a TADA ride with her mother and children towards KK Hospital and the driver alleged drove like a “drunk man” because he was “annoyed by the heavy traffic”.

The driver then allegedly dropped them off in the middle of the road and told the passengers to hurry up and purportedly drove off, causing her son to fall down and almost ran him over.

Here is what she said

Guys, please be aware of this TADA driver.

On 1st September my kids have appointment at KKH. This driver he was annoyed by the heavy traffic in the morning. Then he went on driving like a drunk man.

When we reach KKH, he didn’t asked us where to stop. Even though stated there was Level 1 Children’s tower. He went down to B1 which is the children’s emergency, and he literally stopped in between roads, not taxi stand nor near drop off. Not even near ambulance, but in the middle of the road.

He then told us to hurry up. I carried my 3 years old who was sleeping on my lap. My mom went out with my 2 years old to get the stroller from the bonnet.

My 2 years old son (busybody) wants to help my mom take out the stroller when this driver just drove off like that. My son fall down, luckily never go under the car.

I slammed the bonnet and grab my 2 years old son to the pavement. My mom already scared, she prayed alot that luckily nothing happen

WOMAN BOUGHT FISHBALL NOODLES, SERVED SMALL PORTION WITH BARELY ANY NOODLES

0

Facebook user Nani Lingling shared how she bought a bowl of fishball noodles from Encik Tan and received a paltry serving of noodles that she described as “minuscule”.

Here is what she said

Yes, dont be shocked, its a fresh new portion, a miniscule portion that even a pri 2 kid will find it tiny.

Please dont patronise these encik tan at waterway point to discourage the stall aunty from having this practice to drive away customer so they can slack. No, its not about inflation.

These anti customer practice has been around for recent years, lets stop it together.

Netizens’ comments

  • Can say most of the places & stall doing the same, cut down including ingredients etc….. No matter the price they raise or not, & when ask, they’ll tell you now everything very expensive & their cost have raised………what they do is just push all to the customer……
  • increase price and still cut the portion and that’s the worst.
  • Agree . Is so expensive at waterway point to buy from Encik Tan .very small portion and finished within 2 mouth…
  • Encik Tan is for people who want to eat halal Chinese hawker food and they have no choice… If you have a choice..you are better off eating elsewhere where they can use pork in the food for better authenticity.
  • Guess is the company want to sell at small portion
  • Went there and got their chickenball noodle, photo showed fried meatball – actual thing was fishball… and I dislike fishball plus portion very small

MARRIED MAN FORCED TO STAY WITH PARENTS, EVEN OVERSEAS JOB OFFER HAD TO REJECT

0

I’m a late 30s married man, and I think I’m going crazy and need a place to vent and release steam.

I grew up with a brother who was more academically inclined. As a result, while I was made to study at a cheaper local institution (and was told my parents didn’t have the money to send me anywhere else), they sent my brother to a prestigious university in overseas where he subsequently became a citizen.

While back here, after graduating I was expected to work and stay in the same house as my parents. Even after getting married, I have been staying with my two old folks. Moving out is not an option (financially, I can afford it) as my parents have a rocky relationship with each other I end up being the mediator of all their arguments. I have turned down overseas opportunities as well just because of how bad their fights are and the emotional blackmail (crying, saying I am abandoning them, etc). Now that my mom has an incurable disease, it has become even more difficult/impossible for me to move out as my dad does not care/does not want to be involved in any medical decisions, bringing her to the hospital for checkups, etc.

With the overhead of taking care of these old folks, and with added pressure of having kids (me and the wife are often reminded we are not young anymore) I’m not sure how much pressure I can take as it feels that even as an adult I’m ending up becoming subservient to my parents up till their deaths. And between all this, how did I get the short straw of all this whilst my brother who received more money and more attention can live a happier life? Is it just fate?

GF LEFT MAN AFTER HE GOT INTO $350K DEBT, TRIED TO PLAY FOREX BUT GOT WORSE

0

My life is pretty screwed and I just want to pour it out here.

I graduated in 2019 and currently working and earning an average salary. What people do not know is that I owe more than 300k in debt and more than 90% of my salary is used to clear my debt monthly with the rest being spent on the bare essentials.

I used to run a successful business while studying and it eventually failed due to factors beyond my control, leaving a 250k debt.

Forex Market

Being desperate to clear my debt, I played the stock and forex markets hoping to earn some money but luck turned and I took on another 50k loss.

I had a beautiful GF and she left me once I lost all my money. I could not tell anyone, even my family as my parents earn a low income themselves and I do not want to worry them. The current payment plan is worked out by a counsellor and it will take at least another 9 years to clear the debt if everything goes well.

By then, I’ll be a 35-year-old penniless old man.

Here are what netizens think:

  • 35 is not old for just about anything, and you could receive pay raises or promotions in the future that improve your finances. Sounds like you structured your debt repayment in a way that demonstrates you’ve learned the lesson. I think the more important aspect is to work on what sort of potential partner you want. Shake free of antiquated notions that a man must provide and all that, instead look for someone who will accept your circumstances after you’ve given full disclosure.
  • What makes u think 35 yrs old is penniless old man? Don’t loses hope on yourself & buck it up, stay positive & things will become better. If you give up on yourself, you already lost half of the battle. Jiayou!
  • The road to the end of this nightmare is arduous and painful, but take small comfort that there is a definite destination – Whatever you go through now will end the misery, and that is not an if as long as you do not make detours. Things are not too late in the 30s. You would have acquired a solid foundation in managing finances and can overtake those who have no huge debts but did not save until much later.
  • Its ok,at 35 still can pick up ur life n start saving again. Plan out ur finance n future. No worries but dont take risks anymore or else theres no end
