How can I stop my husband from pissing me off all the times?

I feel that my blood pressure is constantly pushed to the maximum just because of my husband, else most of the times I am peaceful and happy.

My blood boils and I could feel my chest pain even just a simple conversation with him. I can never get a normal decent reply from him or he can never hear my simple request most of the times.

He is most of the time only enthusiastic about his own interest and has zero initiative, zero observation towards what’s going on around him, house chores, kids, my needs etc..

His daily routine is disruptive and I am a very disciplined person which makes it very difficult for me to accommodate him all these years.

He looks normal but I suspect he may have ADD, because his whole family has ADHD, from mild to severe.

I feel that my patience towards him has reached my maximum. I have tried all ways to talk to him about my unhappiness and problems with him but nothing change all these years.

Everyday I just wishes that he can speak to me normally and not giving me replies that piss me off.

Former MP Amrin Amin teamed up with about 30 ex-offenders to help distribute food and groceries to the needy at Beach Road.

They’re fighting back by doing good.

30 ex-offenders came together to help needy families at Blk 4 and 5 Beach Road on Sunday (17 Apr). They raised $2,000, each of them pitching in to buy groceries and festive goodies. They also got dates from Dadah Itu Haram and masks and sanitizers from Kampong Kapor Family Service Centre.

On Thursday (14 Apr), we sent chicken rice sponsored by Zoul’s Corner to needy families at Blk 6 Beach Road.

They told me I met some of them when they were serving time – but I honestly can’t recall as they all sported the same crewcut in prison. I’m glad they’re out and we’re now working together to be a force for good.

In jest, I often said that if you feel a need to join a gang, join my gang – we do good together, help others. The ‘gang’ is taking shape, no more jesting.

I’m proud of them. It’s not easy to step up. We spoke and they know haters can say nasty, mean things to put them down.

Their intentions are noble – to help those in need, especially seniors living alone and young children. And they’re trying to be and do good – trying very hard! Well done, lads. We have your backs!

The National Environment Agency (NEA) has issued a statement on Facebook responding to a Facebook post highlighting a woman working at Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre, not being given a chair.

NEA said that they have looked into the matter and the lady is a safe management personnel engaged to perform VDS checks at entry points.

They said that the personnel are not required to stand all day, and that they are put on shifts with scheduled breaks to make sure they get enough rest.

We are aware of a Facebook post highlighting that a lady working at the Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre was not provided a chair and supposedly had to stand all day at an entry point.

NEA has looked into the matter. The lady is one of the safe management personnel engaged to perform Vaccination-Differentiated Safe Management Measures (VDS) checks at hawker centre entry points. With the easing of COVID-19 Safe Management Measures (SMMs) from 29 Mar, the temporary fencing at hawker centres and markets have since been removed to provide greater accessibility and convenience for stallholders and patrons. VDS checks at entry points have correspondingly ceased.

Manned entry stations at hawker centres across Singapore have been progressively removed. Personnel involved are also in the process of being redeployed to perform other responsibilities within the hawker centre, such as reminding patrons to don their masks when not eating or drinking, as well as monitoring cleanliness of the premises.

The personnel are not required to stand all day. We understand that the work can be tiring, as it requires staff to be on their feet. Therefore, they are put on shifts and there are scheduled breaks to ensure that they get adequate rest. They have also been informed that they can take short breaks within the hawker centres should they feel tired. 

For the case highlighted in the Facebook post, the female personnel is aware that short breaks can be taken within the centre, in addition to scheduled breaks during the shift. We appreciate the hard work of all frontline staff, as well as the concern from members of the public for their well-being.

Do continue to adhere to SMMs and cooperate with the personnel deployed, as we continue transiting towards living with COVID-19. If you see such personnel sitting down, do understand that they are taking necessary breaks, as they work towards providing a safer dining environment for everyone.

A church in Singapore, 3:16 Church, then issued a statement yesterday (19 April) praising the man for his “courage”.

On Good Friday, we heard from Jonathan that thousands were finding hope in God and coming to faith at the war torn borders of other countries. I see the actions of Jon and the team in the train stations, trains, refugee shelters and planes as an expression of revival.

To see young Christians being unashamed and unapologetic about their faith, witnessing and ministering passionately is an answer to prayer that many have been praying for.

However, these expressions of revival will inevitably transgress boundaries because the Holy Spirit will not be contained in neat categories. Where there are transformed lives, there will be exuberant expressions of love and good works.

Jon’s singing on a plane has drawn criticism from many in Singapore for “imposing” his religious beliefs on others. On secularism, Singapore may have a secular state government, but it is a multi-cultural, multi-religious society. The beauty of this nation is not in the exclusion of religious practices and views but a neutral platform for the free exercise of all cultural diversities which are beautiful and valuable to a thriving culture.

Regardless, people will disagree with Jon’s actions, especially on social media. And in an increasingly anti-christian climate, many (who btw have the right to their opinions) will amplify these narratives. In these last days, the scoffing is not something that Christians should be surprised by. How we respond though, is telling of our love for one another. 

In the current culture of consent, what Jon did on the plane is almost unthinkable. It’s noteworthy that Jon was given permission to sing. Also, those on the plane had agency to voice out their disapproval should they not want to tolerate his singing. I’m certain Jon would have responded appropriately and humbly. I’m grateful to hear that many passengers reciprocated the love with claps, tears and smiles.

When it comes to public expressions of our faith, I’m reminded of the apostle Paul’s greatest hits. Amongst his many were the great discourse at the very public Areopagus and his duet with Silas in the quieter prison. Granted that a plane and the prison of Acts 16 are as different as the times we live in, yet the consistency in their courage and conviction remain timeless. To be unashamed of Jesus and the Gospel.  

Jon’s public expression of faith is but one way an authentic Christianity can look like. There are many others. To turn the other cheek in private is just as valid as it is bold. The question here is what does it mean to us.

I hear of many judging the wisdom of Jon’s decision. Just a note that fear often masquerades well as wisdom. Caleb and Joshua probably didn’t sound the wisest when they wanted to take the promise land. In the process, they offended a nation who wanted to kill them. The ten other spies sounded wiser. While we are called to critical thinking, I hesitate to gauge the level of wisdom of Jon’s actions. Faith often isn’t measured by the soundness of facts.

I am careful to judge what God is doing in and through our brother. I know of many who have been deeply inspired by His wholehearted faith. I know some will give their lives to the Lord through moments like these.

Instead of commentating on the side lines, I rather stay inspired by his courage. Instead of analysing his life, I rather analyse my own and how his life provokes me to share the gospel, love others and be like Christ.

I pray that all of us will live an authentic faith in every way possible.

In moments like these, Roosevelt’s “The Man in the Arena” always encourages me:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The Singapore Police Force said in a news release that a total of 26 men and 11 women between the ages of 24 and 79 are being investigated for their suspected involvement in various offences.

A multi-agency enforcement operation was conducted from 28 AMrch to 1 April 2022, led by Bedok Police Division and supported by officers from Criminal Investigation Department, Central Narcotics Bureau, Health Sciences Authority, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Customs, Land Transport Authority and Singapore Food Agency.

A total of 26 men and 11 women, aged between 24 and 79, are being investigated for their suspected involvement in various offences, following a week-long multi-agency enforcement operation conducted from 28 March 2022 to 1 April 2022.

The operation was led by Bedok Police Division and supported by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Central Narcotics Bureau, Health Sciences Authority, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Customs, Land Transport Authority and Singapore Food Agency.

During the operation targeting illegal activities at the Geylang Lorongs, two 28-year-old men were arrested for being alleged members of unlawful societies. A 54-year-old man was also arrested for suspected drug-related offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973.

In an operation conducted along the Geylang Lorongs, four men aged between 24 and 43 years old, were allegedly found to be in possession of substances believed to be unregistered health products consisting of an assortment of cough syrup and sexual enhancement products. E-vaporisers and their accessories were also allegedly recovered from one of the men. They will be investigated for various offences under the Health Products Act 2007 and Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act 1993. Substances with a street value of close to $12,000 were also seized.

Those found guilty of importing, manufacturing and/or supplying of unregistered health products, may be liable to an imprisonment term of up to two years and/or fined up to $50,000. Those found guilty of selling, offering for sale, possessing for sale, importing or distributing e-vaporisers and its accessories, are liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both for the first offence; and to a fine not exceeding $20,000, imprisonment for up to 12 months, or both, for the second or subsequent offence. In addition, for possessing, using and purchasing such items, offenders are liable to a fine not exceeding $2,000.

In enforcement efforts against illegal gambling, the Police conducted enforcement operations at a commercial unit located along Geylang Road and found a total of 21 men and women, aged between 25 and 73, purportedly engaging in gambling-related activities. Cash amounting to more than $200, makeshift furniture and various gambling-related paraphernalia were seized.

Under the Common Gaming House Act 1961, any person assisting in carrying a public lottery shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine between $20,000 and $200,000, and with imprisonment for a term up to five years. Under the Betting Act 1960, any person who is found to be involved in bookmaking shall be liable on conviction to a fine between $20,000 and $200,000, and with imprisonment for a term up to five years. Under the same Act, any person who bets with a bookmaker shall be liable on conviction to a fine up to $5,000, imprisonment for a term up to six months, or both.

The Police also conducted enforcement operations targeted at vice-related activities at two massage establishments located along Geylang Road. Two women, aged 37 and 44 years old, were arrested for their suspected involvement in offences under the Women’s Charter 1961. The outlets will also be investigated for purportedly operating as a massage establishment without a valid licence.

Individuals found guilty of carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid licence under Section 5(1) of the Massage Establishments Act 2017 are liable to a fine of $10,000, imprisonment of up two years, or both. Those found to have breached the prescribed rules and conditions under the Massage Establishments Rules 2018 are liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000. Individuals who are repeat offenders of the Massage Establishments Act 2017 are liable to a fine not exceeding $20,000, imprisonment of up to five years, or both, while repeat offenders of the Massage Establishments Rules 2018 will be liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.

In an operation targeted at illegal hawking activities, two men, aged 44 and 67 years old, were found to be involved in illegal hawking and were issued with summons under the Environmental Public Health Act 1987 for hawking secondhand goods in a public place without a valid licence. The goods displayed for sale were seized for investigations.

Officers from the Singapore Customs conducted enforcement against duty-unpaid cigarettes as well. Five men, aged between 24 and 53, were issued with advisories and composition sums of up to $2,500 for possession of duty-unpaid cigarettes. A total of 20 sticks of duty-unpaid cigarettes were seized as part of the operation.

Buying, selling, conveying, delivering, storing, keeping, possessing or dealing with duty-unpaid goods are serious offences under the Customs Act 1960 and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act 1993. Offenders can be fined up to 40 times the amount of duty and GST evaded and/or jailed for up to six years.

Officers from Land Transport Authority also seized one non-compliant power-assisted bicycle under the Road Traffic Act 1961.

Investigations against all the 37 individuals are ongoing.

Commanding Officer of Geylang Neighbourhood Police Centre, Deputy Superintendent of Police Lee Ting Wei said: “Illicit activities have a negative impact on the community and must be dealt with swiftly. The Police will work together with other law enforcement agencies to ensure that these activities remain in check against the backdrop of easing COVID-19 measures. We are thankful for the strong support by our partners and stakeholders and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law. Members of public are advised to steer clear from illegal activities and to report such activities to the Police.”
