The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a total of 5,207 new cases on 29 January 2022 with one fatality.
Case details
Of the 5,207 new cases, 4,959 are local.
The remaining 248 are imported cases.
Of the cases today, 3,475 cases are low risk and detected via ART test while 1,732 cases are detected via PCR.
The 3,475 ART positive cases consist of 3,467 local cases and eight imported cases, while the 1,732 PCR positive cases consist of 1,492 local cases and 240 imported cases.
MOH has stopped reporting separately about Omicron variant cases and have included it inside with the total case count.
This is because the bulk of infections now is all Omicron cases.
The confirmed cases are now a total of cases tested via PCR test and GP-Protocol 2 cases.
GP-Protocol 2 cases refer to individuals who are well but test positive or have been diagnosed by a doctor to have mild conditions.
Weekly infection growth rate
The weekly infection growth rate is now at 2.24, which is the same as what was reported on Friday.
This rate refers to the ratio of community cases of the past week as compared to the week before.
A rate above 1 indicates that weekly cases are on the rise.
Total toll
One reported today brings the death toll in Singapore at 854 and the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now at 343,832.
A guy took to social media to subtly make fun of his neighbour who he is indirectly implying that they are hoarding up the common corridor space.
In the guy’s passive aggressive post, he posted two pictures of the amount of carton boxes and stuff that the neighbours have placed at the common corridor, albeit being neatly stacked mostly outside the neighbour’s unit but however obstructing the passageway leading to the stairs.
A closer look at the pictures shows that the cartons placed by the neighbour are mostly cartons of mandarin oranges, seemingly suggesting that the neighbours are owners of a business selling them for the upcoming Chinese New Year or simply just love mandarin oranges.

A post has been seen on social media with regards to an alleged self entitled woman who parked her BMW in the middle of a lot just so that she can go and purchase plants for the coming Chinese New Year festivities.
It was said that her BMW obstructed the road, making several cars unable to leave the place until she was back to the car after being done with her shopping about 15 minutes later.
Her actions apparently caused further chaos to the entire place and it could have been slightly better if her car was parked to the side and not in the middle of the lot.
Furthermore, the woman claimed that it is not her fault for doing what she did as people were not letting her have her way in parking.
The incident is said to have happened at JM plants on 28 January 2022 at about 0800 hours along Thomson Road.

A netizen took to social media to express his disappointment about the service that he had received from a clinic in Bedok.
According to him, he had went today (29 Jan) to a clinic in Bedok known as CityGP Family Clinic at 1:36pm and was told that there were 4 patients in queue in front of him and the clinic will call them once it is their turn next.
So they agreed to wait and started walking around the neighbourhood.
They did not get a call at 3pm and so they called the clinic which told them that it is their turn next and they can wait outside now.
However when it was their turn, they claimed that the doctor skipped their turn to do a quick pre-departure test for a lady and after her still let patients later than them go in to see the doctor first.
It was only until when there were no more patients left at 3:50pm did the staff at the clinic apologise to them and come out with all sorts of excuses like they are understaffed and some patients were ‘appointment based’.
According to the netizen, the doctor also could not justify why it took more than 2 hours to see four patients.

On 29/01/22 at 1.36pm we visited CityGP Family Clinic (Blk 122 Bedok North st 2). They told us there were 4 patients ahead of us. They claimed they’d call us when our turn was next. So we didn’t mind waiting and walked around the neighbourhood.
At about 3pm, no call was made and we decided to check on our queue status. The staff said our turn was next and told us to wait inside the clinic. One patient out, so our turn was next, right? We thought so but no, the doctor, Dr Kwok Chun Lin, came out of the consultation room and called for the lady who would be doing a pre departure test. I approached the staff to clarify that it was supposed to be our turn and she said the test was a quick one. Fine. As soon as she came out, Dr Kwok called the next patient who registered after us upon arrival.
By then, it was already 3.50pm and no more patients, just us! Only after we asked why they skipped us and brought the later patients in, he then apologised and offered to take us in immediately which we turned him down. He could not even explained why it took 2 hours to consult 4 patients which was being told by the front staff earlier on.
The lame justifications he made were ‘not enough doctor’ and they had ‘appointment based’ patients.
My point of view, if you are not able to manage new cases (walk in) due to the shortage of manpower, you shouldn’t be taking in more registrations and give empty promises making patients wait for 2hrs. This is just a GP, not a polyclinic. Even polyclinics have improve on their service.”

This is why it enrages me that people with records aren’t allowed to sell weed legally. They have the skills, the customer relations, and the knowledge… they went to jail for that. I’d hire this guy. Honest, and has creative thinking skills.
I used to work with a gentleman who had been incarcerated. Towards me, he appeared to be such a calm, good guy and very remorseful of whatever he had done.
He wanted to get a job but he was so down over the fact he had a criminal record and felt there was no way anyone would hire him. I connected him to an employment agency.
In the 1.5 years I worked with him, his representative at the agency had changed 4 times and they had applied for an endless list of jobs and even volunteering positions.
Each time we would go through job ads and volunteering ads the requirement for a police check would throw him off. And the fact these previous applications were denied, this further discouraged him from trying.
I see the comedic side to this post but I completely respect what this guy is doing. There are those with a bad past who genuinely want to turn their life around.
When they try, and get denied over and over, it’s a huge slap in the face, and I worry it just redirects them back to the unhealthy habits. There needs to be more people and companies like this.
A video recently emerged online about an incident which happened at a bus stop on 29 January at about 1554 hours between an Audi A3 bearing the vehicle license plate of SKX8244D and a public bus route 85.
The Audi was seen stopping at the bus stop with its hazard light on, obstructing the public service bus’ way.
The vehicle did not seem to be in need of any assistance or in any distress as seen from the video.
Therefore, it is deemed to have committed the offence of illegally parking inside a bus stop.
The driver of the Audi, who is said to be a young punk, was quoted by the bus driver to be foul mouthed as he had allegedly challenge the bus driver when he was asked to move out of the bus stop by the bus driver.
According to him, the young punk driver apparently said:

Laws regarding stopping at bus stops
Under Singapore’s law, it is an offence to park a vehicle within 9 metres of a bus stop.
The measurement of 9 metres will be taken from the bus stop pole or the tip of the bus stop box, but in the case of a bus bay, the measurement is taken from the tip of the bus bay itself not the bus stop.
However, if you have met with a scenario such as have deflated tyres or a vehicle breakdown, then you are most probably given a free pass to stop there until assistance is on the way.
Penalties
The penalties for being caught parking within 9 metres of a bus stop are a fine of $70 for light vehicles and $100 for heavy vehicles.

I was at UK, and they understood me well. Maybe cos I am Singaporean and Maybe they meant China Chinese. Lol. Cos back at China, they mostly speak Chinese, not much opportunity to practice English with others.

The Facebook was captioned in Thai words which roughly translates to:
“A friend told me that they just opened a new bar around jalan besar. Any girls looking for a new running shop can try it. She told the customers that the shop was already packed. Not enough staff. Find it urgently.”
The screen shots also indicated that the pub will pay the girls 90% for “LD”(Ladies’ Drink) and “10% table comms”.
This means that the hostess will ask customers to buy them drinks and they will earn 90% commission from the drink. So if the Ladies Drink is $20, the hostess would yield a commission of $18. Tables comms is the amount of money the customer spend on a table/night via booking from the hostess.
In another words, there is intermingling between staff and customers on the premise. As the hostess/staff needs to entertain the customers in exchange for the ladies drink.
The netizen said that he has since reported the incident to the relevant authorities and hope they will take action soon.

Breach of safe distancing measures
First-time offenders who breach safe distancing measures are fined $300.
For non-compliance with safe management measures under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, offenders may be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (29 Jan) that people who tested positive for the virus via the Antigen Rapid Test (ART) should still get a booster jab done approximately five months after the initial two doses.
This is to keep their vaccination status as fully vaccinated after 270 days passed.
Positive without seeing doctor
Those that tested positive through routine testing or pre-event testing are also applicable in this scenario.
Individuals who tested positive this way are usually under the current Protocol 2, which means that under MOH’s medical records, they have never been infected before.
This group of people will need to take their booster jab to keep their status valid.

However, if their records are available in Health hub then they can decide whether or not they want to take the booster.
If they belong to this category, it can be considered as their booster and the records will be automatically updated.
Can take vaccine regardless whether infected
MOH also added that anyone regardless whether they were infected or not can still go for the booster as it is safe to do so.
Vaccination centres have received instructions to accept all statuses and no one will be rejected if they show up at the centres.
MOH is also working on a tool to be uploaded onto their website for people to check if they have to go and take their booster shots for their vaccine validity status.
They also advised the public not to use serology test as an excuse to escape from taking the boosters as the serology tests are not a strong enough indicator to show if one is resilient from infections.
A netizen has taken to social media to express her disappointment with her recent order from 8 Crabs Seafood Restaurant.
She had ordered an eight course meal from the restaurant for her family’s reunion dinner and then said that only four out of the eight courses turned out to be edible and after eating halfway, her family ordered fast food to eat instead.
She adds that the crab smells like ammonia, the vegetable colours are yellow green, there’s still blood in the chicken wings and that the pork is not fully cooked.
The meal was eaten by her nephew and son first and she hopes that the poor quality of the food will not cause them to fall ill.
