39 Y.O S’PORE WOMAN ARRESTED, $268K WORTH OF DRUGS SEIZED

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a press release that a 39-year-old Singaporean woman was arrested for alleged drug activities during an operation.

She was arrested on the evening of 23 November at Dover Crescent, and about 479g of heroin, as well as other drug paraphernalia, were seized from her.

A bundle of about 546g of Ice and 5 bundles of about 2.18kg of ketamine were seized from a vehicle that was parked nearby.

Additionally, a small amount of Ice and Subutex were seized from a nearby unit.

In total, more than 3kg of drugs worth about $268,000 were seized in the operation.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Logan Govindaraj, a 30-year-old Indian national, pleaded guilty on 24 November to one charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt – he had bitten off the tip of the victim, Muthu Selvam’s, finger.

He is due to return to the court in December for his sentencing.

What happened?

Logan was with Muthu and another worker inside a parked lorry near their dormitory on 6 December at around 4pm, they were drinking alcohol and playing music.

Logan drank more than 3 cans of beer and while drunk, he accused Muthu of sleeping with other workers.

Muthu asked him to leave the lorry after telling him to stop lying.

The two then alighted from the lorry as Logan continued shouting and getting in the way of Muthu.

Muthu then pushed him out of the way, with his left hand landing near Logan’s chest near where his mouth is.

Logan then bit his left pinky finger.

Realized finger was missing

Muthu then bled profusely and slapped Logan in return, grabbing his shirt – that was also when he realized the top of his pinky finger was missing.

Muthu then cleaned his wound and asked his colleagues to call 995, and he was then conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he had part of his finger amputated to prevent infection.

His missing finger-tip was found at the scene but ultimately couldn’t be reattached.

Logan was then arrested and found to be drunk at the time.

A netizen, Yanyan Lok, shared that she bought a Mcdonald’s meal from a Paya Lebar Square outlet.

After she finished her cup of iced Milo, she found a machine part from the drinks dispenser inside her cup.

She then posted photos of her find on Facebook, captioning it:

“The quality of McDonald’s is really getting worse and worse, this is really unacceptable.”

How did it happen

According to Mothership, the woman said that she bought the $18 meal from Mcdonald’s Paya Lebar Square and brought it home to eat.

The incident happened on Tuesday at around 9pm.

She questioned how something like this could happen, how could such a big machine part drop into the drink and no one knows about it.

41 VICTIMS SCAMMED OF $203K IN MOVIE TICKET BUYING SCAM

The Singapore Police Force said on 25 November that 41 people fell victim to a movie ticket buying scam, with about $203,000 being lost.

The scam was linked to companies with Filmgo in their name, and victims were asked on WeChat (among others) to take part in a job commission scheme.

They would ask them to create accounts of the Filmgo websites and top up their accounts to buy movie tickets and get their commission from the sale of the tickets.

The scammers then gave the victims the bank accounts of unknown persons for the payments.

The victims thought the work was legitimate because their Filmgo accounts stated that commissions could only be earned upon job completion.

They then tried to withdraw money from their accounts and failed, and that was when they realized they were scammed.

MAS CONSIDERING TAKING ACTION AGAINST DBS FOR I-BANKING FAILURE

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is considering taking actions against DBS Bank following the disruption to DBS’ digital banking services.

MAS called the disruption serious and will let DBS conduct a thorough investigation before taking action.

Serious disruption

MAS says that they expect all financial institutions to have systems and processes to make sure financial services are made available consistently to customers.

They added that the disruption is serious and will consider taking supervisory action once DBS finishes with their investigation into the root cause and remedies the situation.

No need to panic

Singapore’s Country Head of DBS, Shee Tse Koon, appeared in a Facebook video assuring people that their monies were safe, while the disruption was happening.

Customers were told that they could still use phone banking and physical banking services.

S’PORE & M’SIA LAND VTL AT CAUSEWAY CONFIRMED TO LAUNCH ON 29 NOV

The Prime Minister’s Office announced via a press release that the land Vaccinated Travel Lane between Singapore and Malaysia through the Causeway will officially be launched on 29 November.

Phase One of the land VTL will be reserved for citizens/PRs/Long Term Pass holders who are traveling to their own country (ie. Malaysian working in Singapore going to Johor).

Designated buses will ferry them across the Causeway.

Reuniting families

The PMO emphasized that the who are working in either country will be prioritized to let them see their families.

The land VTL will eventually be expanded to allow more travelers to cross the Causeway.

Singapore and Malaysia are also working towards the resumption of travel via the Tuas Second Link.

Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong appealed for the understanding of workers who might not be able to get their hands on a bus ticket to return home, because of the limited quota of the first phase.

Must be fully vaccinated

Those who are traveling have to test negative in a pre-departure ART or PCR test within 2 days prior to their departure.

They must also be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination.

A 27-year-old woman in Boston posted a video on TikTok crying about how she accidentally swallowed an Apple Airpod instead of a painkiller.

The TikToker, Carli, was supposed to swallow an Ibuprofen 800 painkiller tablet but mixed it up with her Airpod.

Swallowed the wrong thing

She was apparently holding onto the pill in her right hand and her left Airpod in her left hand.

She said that she threw the Airpod into her mouth without realising it, took a sip of water to swallow it before realising that it wasn’t the painkiller.

The TikToker then describes in her video that she was trying to vomit it up but the Airpod won’t come out, as she cried.

Came out from the other side

Carli later posted an update video sharing that the Airpod had passed through her system without damaging her insides.

Meaning it eventually came out when she went to pass motion – she then confirmed that she didn’t try to retrieve the Airpod that came out.

DBS DIGITAL BANKING SERVICES DOWN, HEAD OF BANK: “YOUR MONIES ARE SAFE”

DBS Bank’s digital banking servers are down for the 2nd day running, with the bank’s access control servers being responsible for the disruptions.

This represents the bank’s worst disruption in more than 10 years when customers were unable to withdraw money from ATMs back in 2010 due to a glitch.

Your money is safe

DBS bank posted an update on their Facebook page, saying that they are working around the clock with their third-party engineering providers to fix the problem and recover the digital banking services.

They assured customers that their money and deposits are safe and that they can continue with their banking needs through visiting the branches or via phone banking.

Bank branches operating hours extended

The bank also announced that they have extended the banking services at all their branches by 2 hours.

They reiterated that their relationship managers and call centre customer service officers are on standby to assist.

A Foodpanda rider shared his experience with an unruly customer on Facebook.

The rider, Bryen Yap, is also the owner of the restaurant that received the order from the woman.

Here is his story

“First time order, 25th October, she cancelled the order 28 hours later…

28 hours later.. then she realized.. she haven’t eaten the food that was sent to her.

Claim food never send to her house… 28 hours later… Then She realize she hasn’t eaten her dinner yesterday.

A few days later, she ordered again.

Received order for his own outlet

Guess what. I was the Panda rider that picked up the order. I just happened to be SENDING panda.. and I received this pick-up order for my own outlet…

She never picked up her phone, so I cannot get thru the gate or lift lobby. But guess what…I got lobby access… And gate access.

I purposely knocked on the door and called her again.

This time she picked up and I told her that I am outside the flat already.

She didn’t set it as contactless so she had no choice but to ask me to hang the food at the door.

I waited for 10mins and took a video as proof, but she still didn’t come out.

I still went next door and said “hi” to her neighbours before leaving the place.

I was surprised she didn’t complain about the food never arriving the next day or the day after…

Ordered again

21 November, she ordered again when I wasn’t around.

She had placed a pre-order which my employees can see in blue.

Pre-order came in at 21.06 pm. . I repeat. Preorder.. to be delivered at LATER Timing… 21.46 pm… My employees remembered her name when the order came out…

So they rushed out her food… At 21.48 pm, the food was prepared out.. in 2mins.

At 21.49 pm, the order was cancelled because she waited too long…She chose the pre-order to be sent at a later time…And she cancelled…Because it was sent at a later time?

Miss *name withheld* If your character is like this, then don’t order food on Foodpanda, or don’t order from this outlet.

This outlet doesn’t want to do your business – you order 1 more time, they are going to give you an empty box.

For each order u cancel, they write in and are only paid 30% of their fees and it totally sucks when we have customers like you.

A netizen shared how he/she was a fresh graduate from a private university and recently started working in an audit company for about 4 months.

The newbie was allegedly forced to do the work of a senior worker, on top of his/her own work and as a result of doing 2 work, has to bring work home to do until about 11 pm.

The netizen said that he/she is very tired since joining the company and feels like nothing is worth it anymore.

Here is her story

“Hi, I am confused and need some help.

I recently started working in audit (4mth) and I hate it. I hate the culture of the office and the people.

I feel like I’m being tormented by my senior, he says whatever’s he wants and makes me do this work while I do mine as well

And since I can’t finish 2work at the same time I have to bring work back home and work till 11+.

Mental health

I am so tired and since I started working in this company my mental health has been bad.

I am a fresh grad from private Uni so I know I have to work harder but I just feel like nothing is worth it anymore and I am lost.

I don’t know if I should quit considering the economy but I can’t take it as well.

Please give me some advice thank you!”

Editor’s note: You should complain to your manager about the senior worker’s antics, why should you do the work of 2 persons? The senior is basically earning money for the work that you do. Stand up for yourself.
