EMPLOYER REFUSES TO BRING MAID TO SEE DOCTOR AFTER GETTING BITTEN BY THEIR DOG

Source: sgfollowsall

A video was recently uploaded on the Instagram page sgfollowsall which shows her injuries after getting bitten by her employer’s dog. The employer was believed to have delayed treatment for her maid and refused to bring her to see a doctor.

Here is the full story. This post is on behalf of this girl who newly came to work here in Singapore as a domestic helper…

I will just write what I know about this case and I am here to seek help and advice. On the night of 22/5/21, this girl was bitten by her employer’s dog. She has informed her maid agency that night. After my conversation with the maid agency about her situation, I knew that the maid agency was frightened and contacted her employer to get her checkup by a dr. As I knew the maid agency and employer both have agreed to bring her to see dr on 24/5/21 which is makes me super upset.

Employer claimed that on Sunday(23/5/21) the clinic was closed and the wound was not serious. As we all know so many clinics open on Sunday and A&E opens 24hrs and the wound was bad and still bleeding on Sunday night.

On 24/5/21 @0930hrs the girl called me and she said that she haven’t seen doctor yet and the wound was very painful 😖 , I was very upset with the employer and worried on her wound. I asked for her boss contact and I texted her boss. I told her boss that if she don’t bring her to see dr then I will call police. Employer was angry and scolded the girl becoz she gave me her contact number.

On 24/5/21 @1130hrs, at last they brought her to see DR.

This girl doesn’t want to work for them anymore and wanted to transfer. Agent asked employer for transfer paper but they were not willing to pay for her lodging they asked the girl to pay at her expense. So the girl has no choice because she doesn’t want to stay one more night at employer’s house also.

So the employer asked the girl to write a letter saying that she will pay her lodging but her right hand couldn’t moved due to her wound so the employer wrote on behalf for her and let her signed the letter.

Currently, her loan is 5+ months, if she goes back home, she will need to pay back the agency.

LAWRENCE WONG: FURTHER RESTRICTIONS AFTER JUNE 13 NOT RULED OUT

Co-chair of the Multi Ministry Task Force, Lawrence Wong, said in a press conference after PM Lee’s national address, that further restrictions could still be implemented after the ending of Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) on 13 June.

He said that the measures implemented so far have been working, but added that Singapore is not out of the woods yet.

He said:

“I go back to the metaphor that we had used last year, of a fire. We are taking steps to contain the fire and to minimise its spread. But the embers of the fire are still out there, and they can easily spark another major flare-up.”

Wong then added that we must be mentally prepared and we cannot rule out the possibility of further restrictions if they become necessary.

He then thanked everyone in Singapore for doing their part.

“All of you have demonstrated tremendous discipline, and social responsibility over the past two to three weeks. So thank you very much for this tremendous response.

We’ve done well so far. But this is not the time to relax or to let our guard down. In fact, it is absolutely critical that we continue to stay home and to work from home wherever possible, go out only for essential activities, and minimise our daily contacts. If you feel unwell, see a doctor immediately.”

UNCLE ALLEGEDLY ASK WOMAN’S BABY TO WEAR MASK: “YOU INDIANS DON’T FOLLOW RULES”

A Singaporean Indian woman was having a morning walk with her baby at Bedok Reservoir.

An elderly man then approached her at around 8.30am and asked how come her baby son who was 7-months-old wasn’t wearing a mask.

She then told him that he was only 7-months-old and is therefore not required to wear a mask.

The man then scolded her:

“When you Indians come to Singapore, follow Singapore rules and not Indian ones”.

The man then took photos of the baby without the mother’s permission.

The woman said that the man continued scolding them, saying that her baby needs to wear a mask.

She added that Singapore is her home country and it saddens her to hear someone believe otherwise.
