BURGLARY AT BOON LAY, S$300,000 STOLEN, 57 Y.O BREAKS OPEN SAFE

According to the Police media release, a 57-year-old man was arrested for burglary and stealing almost S$300,000 in cash and he will be charged later today.

The police issued a statement said that that they were alerted to a case of burglary at about 9:15 AM that occurred at Buroh Street, about USD$205,000 and S$6,000 cash was stolen.

Jurong police station police officers identified the suspect after investigation and arrested him within 4 hours. The police recovered USD$157,630 and S$6,000 in cash, as well as a damaged safe door as evidence.

From the photo taken by the Police, it appears that the safe was forcefully broken open or melted.

The man will be charged with the crime of housebreaking today.

If he is found guilty, he will be sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined.

TAMPINES: MAN SAID HE HAVE COVID-19 AND COUGH AT OTHERS

According to the media release, a 41-year-old man was charged on the 15 May 2020 for intentionally coughing at others at Tampines central post office.

He was charged for a public nuisance. On 30 Mar 2020, the man was caught not wearing a mask while was out in the public. He refuses to take his temperature before entering the post office.

While in the post office he allegedly told the staff that he is infected with COVID-19 and he goes on coughing in other customer’s face.

The man will be back in court on the 02 Jun 2020.

MAN CHARGED FOR ASSAULTING LAW ENFORCERS

According to a media release, a 60-year-old man was charged on the 15 May 2020 for multiple charges including assaulting 2 law enforcer.

The man faces 11 counts of different charges which include 5 counts that are related to breaching the circuit breaker measures. He was caught not wearing a mask at different locations such as Block 101, Towner Road and Bendemeer Market and Food Centre.

The accuse is also involved in 2 separate cases which involve assaulting and verbally abusing. Earlier this year on the 07 Feb 2020 he was involved in an incident where he attacked 2 auxiliary police officers at SGH.

On the 12 April 2020, he verbally abused a senior manager form the National Park Board for asking him not to rest on a bench which was sealed as part of the covid-19 measures. The man then decides to vandalism the bench which resulted in a $200 damage.

After the court hearing, he was caught again for meeting a man at a bus stop along Stamford Road. According to the media release, he will be remanded at IMH for psychiatric observation. He will be back in court on the 29 May 2020.

1275 COVID-19 PATIENT DISCHARGE, 5 NEW CLUSTERS IDENTIFIED

According to the Ministry of Health media release, there are 1,275 COVID-19 patients discharged. The total number of recovered cases increased to 7,248 as of 15 May 2020.

Break down of 793 new cases:

  • Imported cases: 0
  • Cases in the community: 1 (1 Singaporean / PRs)
  • Work Permit holders (residing outside dormitories): 1
  • Work Permit holders (residing in dormitories): 791

1,124 are still in the hospital, 18 of these patients are in the intensive care unit. 18,498 are in isolation at community care facilities. Death numbers remain at 21.

MAN CHARGED AFTER SMASHING NEIGHBOUR WINDOW FOR CIG SMELL

According to a media release, a 52-year-old is charged on the 15 May 2020 for breaking two windows of his neighbour. This is because he was unhappy with the cigarette smell which is coming out from his neighbour apartment.

The incident happened on the 18 of Apr 2020, a woman was injured in the process as she was cut by the shattered glass from the broken windows. He is charged for his reckless act and causing hurt to others and charged for leaving his home without wearing a mask.

His actions have caused total damage of $400 to his neighbour. The pre-trial for his case will be on the 29 May 2020.

OTTERS ATE AROWANA AT BISHAN, A FISH THAT COST THOUSANDS

According to a media release the otters are at it best again. A group of otters are spotted at a spa located in Bishan Park.

According to the owner of the spa, a group of otters have seen transpassing into her premises and eventually ate up all her beloved fishes in the pond of her spa. It is said that at least 100 fishes are consumed by these otters including Arowana that cost thousands of dollars.

This will be the best meal served for the otters but a heartbreaking moment for the owner. Money aside, all her effort that she had put in over the years to raise of these fishes had gone to waste.

SOME CONSTRUCTION WORKERS WILL BE BACK ON THE 2ND OF JUNE

Earlier today Minister Lawrence Wong spoke on-air that construction works would start but with conditions.

“Construction work can resume safely in this new COVID-19 environment so we are going to introduce new measures that cover the end-to-end precautions from accommodations to the transportation of workers and down to the worksites.”

“The one key change, for example, is that we would require for any projects the workers involved in that project and usually take it they will come from multiple contractors living in separate multiple dorms, but as part of the new requirement we will now require them to be housed together if you are working on one project then you are housed together and you can be housed in a block to build in an existing dormitory or they could be housed on-site in temporary quarters which the contractor may wish to set up a place “

“Even if a transmission what will happen in the worksite it will not go back to multiple dormitories, it will be contained we are also going to ensure that there is minimal mixing of workers communal activities”

MALAYSIAN SENTENCE TO DEATH FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

A Malaysian man who coordinated drugs delivery into Singapore is sentenced to death today. (15 May 2020)

37-year-old Punithan Ganesan is the first person in Singapore to be given a death penalty via remote hearing since the start of COVID-19 pandemic. He was guilty of planning drugs trafficking activities to Singapore with the help of the two men Shanmugam and Suief to traffic 28.5g of heroin to Singapore.

Paid RM 7,000 / month to traffic drugs

In 2011, Punihan introduced the pair to one another in Singapore, offering Shanmugam RM 7,000 a month to drive into Singapore. Upon reaching Singapore Shanmugam and Suief will link up and start delivery drugs for Punihan according to his instructions.

The two are arrested shortly after the incident. After investigation, Punihan was arrested in Malaysia with the help of the Malaysia police. He was then imported back to Singapore to assist with the investigation.

Both his partners were sentenced in 2015, with Shamugan sentence to life imprisonment and 15 Strokes of cane. While Suief on the other hand sentenced to death.

DRUNK MAN FLOUT CB RULES, INVITE FRIEND FOR A DRINK & RIDE BIKE

According to the media release, a 23-year-old Malaysian Arvinish N Ramakrishnan was caught riding his motorbike while he was intoxicated.

The incident began on the 19 of April 2020 at Yishun Central Blk 325, Arvinish invited his friend named Siddhartha Gauthma A/L Robat over to his flat to have a drink from around 12 am to 3 am.

Arvinish then offered to send his friend home who stay nearby at Block 288, Yishun Avenue 6.

When he was on his way at Yishun Avenue 6, he was caught by traffic police officers and told to blow the breathalyzer and he was found with 43mgs of alcohol which exceeded the laws limit which is 35mgs.

Arvinish will return to court on the 27 May 2020.

For drinking driving/riding, he faces up to 1-year jail and/or fined of $2,000 to $10,000.

For flouting circuit breaker rules he is facing up to 6months jail, up to $10,000 fine or both

TAXI DRIVER RECEIVES $100 DOLLAR NOTE AS TIP FOR $10 RIDE

A kind-hearted female passenger paid $100 for a nine-minute drive which usually cost $10 and told the driver to keep the change.

The 9-minute journey was from Takashimaya Shopping Centre to Newton, the kind act happened on the 13 of May 2020. A $10.47 fare becomes $100.

When the passenger told the Taxi driver that he need not give back the change, he was shocked and was very happy as that amount is able to cover around 5 days of rental.

Times are hard, it is this kind of story that brings hope.
