JURONG FISHERY PORT REOPENED, OPERATION TO START ON AUG 2

The biggest seafood market in Singapore is set to resume operations tonight. After an intense battle against the spread of COVID-19, The Singapore Food Agency said that operations will resume on Aug 2.

SFA said on Facebook (Aug 1):

Jurong Fishery Port (JFP) reopened yesterday and tenants are making arrangements to resume wholesale market operations on 2 Aug.

Two rounds of deep cleaning of the entire JFP site had been done prior to the reopening on 31 Jul.

We also briefed the tenants today on JFP’s enhanced safe management measures (SMMs) and we are heartened that they all understood the need for the enhanced measures so that JFP can continue to operate smoothly.

As tenants and trade visitors adapt and adjust to the enhanced SMMs, there may be initial issues and delays and we will work closely with trade associations, tenants and workers to review and finetune the processes where necessary. Together with the industry, we will continue working hard to ensure a resilient supply of food for all!

OLD SCHOOL PAGER AND PAGING CODES BRINGS BACK OLD MEMORIES

Does the above image look familiar to you? Do you remember what it is?

If it does not bring back any memories to you, then you’re probably too young to even smoke legally in Singapore.

For those that do not know what this is, this is known as a pager. It was the in thing back then and you can actually use this device to beep someone up with a short message and get the person to call you back.

A recent image on facebook brings back certain childhood memories of the 80s and 90s when the pager was more commonly used.

The image also shows the codes we used back then to say certain things to the receiver.

Check out the image below and see if you can decipher any of the codes without looking at the answers.
