Following the viral video of the racist woman making fun of a Hindu man’s prayers, a guy (@theroycelee on IG) made a video ridiculing the incident on his Instagram.
In his video, he was seen hitting a “gong” for every situation, including using it to flag down a taxi, using it to conduct a “rain dance” and etcetera.
Naturally, netizens weren’t particularly amused by his antics, calling him out for being insensitive and trivialising the victim’s experience.
Royce then replied to every netizen who was calling him out, copy and pasting the same “non-apology” onto their comments.
(Instagram video at the bottom, after screenshots of comments.)
Update: @theroycelee later uploaded an “apology” video onto his Instagram, clad in a clown’s makeup.
Royce claimed that he takes full responsibility for parodying the incident and that he is sorry.
However despite apologising, the parody video in question remains on his profile and has yet to be taken down; with many netizens calling him out for being insincere and making the matter worse.

A video of a naked man riding his motorcycle at Eunos, and another video of what is believed to be the same naked man climbing on top of another man’s car, made the rounds on social media yesterday.
The naked man has since been arrested by police and is due to be charged in court tomorrow (12 June).
The police confirmed that they were alerted on 10 June at about 5.45am about an incident where a naked man was walking around Block 212 Toa Payoh Lorong 8, fully in the nude.
The 24-year-old man apparently climbed on top of a car at the car park, naked.
He was then arrested by police.
He will be charged in court tomorrow with appearing nude in a public place under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act.
The naked man is also under investigation for other offences, including public nuisance, obscene act in a public place, wilful trespass and possible traffic violations.
Lim Jing Wei, who turns 21 tomorrow, pleaded guilty yesterday (10 June) to one count of sexual assault by penetration; with another charge of attempted rape being taken into consideration during sentencing.
He had invited a female acquaintance to his home to play “mobile legends” after drinking and supper, before sexually assaulting her in his bedroom.
Lim is currently out on bail of $80,000 and he will be sentenced next week.
What happened?
The two met in 2018 through mutual friends, the victim cannot be named due to a gag order to protect her identity.
They had gone out together in a group of friends on several occasions and once on their own; and Lim was interested in her although she didn’t reciprocate.
One the day of the incident, the victim texted Lim to meet at her workplace for drinks.
They than shared a beer tower with her and another friend there.
They then parted ways with the other friend at about 11pm, and the two (Lim and the victim) then went for supper, after which Lim invited her to go to his home to play Mobile Legends.
She agreed to because she wanted to charge her phone.
Upon arriving at his home, Lim spoke to his mother for a while before asking the victim to go to his bedroom.
He then shut his bedroom door and they played the game.
After that, he asked her to lie down next to him in bed but was turned down, he then persisted and she eventually gave in, hoping he would stop asking her.
Lim then lay on top of her, hugging and kissing her; she pushed him away and shouted “AUNTIE!” hoping that Lim’s mother would go into the room, but it didn’t work.
Lim then tried to remove her top, she stopped him and said “no”, but she eventually gave in to his requests, thinking that he would be appeased.
Lim then sexually assaulted her and she was too shocked to react in time, she soon told him to stop and moved away.
He then asked her to perform a sex act on him but she declined and suggested they cuddle instead, hoping to appease him.
He agreed and soon fell asleep about 15 minutes after.
The victim then dressed herself and broke down, before sending messages to several of her friends and asked if they could come and pick her up.
She then composed herself and searched for the keys to his house, finding his wallet and taking a photo of his NRIC to pass to the police.
One of her friends later helped her to make a report to the police.
Marco Paulo Goncalves Guimaraes, 43-years-old, a Portuguese, pleaded guilty to 2 charges on 10 June and was sentenced to 3 weeks jail.
He was ordered to compensate the victim and was also fined $1,000 for not wearing a mask.
Guimaraes is a Fifa licensed players’ agent who scouts for talent in Singapore and the region to play for European football clubs.
What happened?
on 11 July 2020 at about 1pm, Guimaraes was on his way to pick up his daughter from Oasis Primary School in Punggol, driving along Edgefield Plains planning to wait along the road for his daughter, with other cars.
Another car honked at him along the road and he gave way, he then thought that he saw the driver make a rude gesture with his finger at him while driving past.
Guimaraes then tailed the man in his car and confronted him at the loading bay of a nearby HDB block, he didn’t have his mask on at the time.
He then pushed the car door as the victim was alighting from his car, causing it to hit the victim’s shin, before grabbing his wrist and arguing with him.
Guimaraes then pushed the victim after he got out of the car.
He was hurling vulgarities at the victim and only put on his mask after the victim took a video of him with his phone.
Guimaraes also slapped the victim at the side of his head and kicked him before the arrival of the police.
In an interview with CNA938, Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam, said that Singapore’s racial harmony is not yet on a “knife’s edge”, despite the recent spate of racist incidents in Singapore.
He said that claiming so would be “overdramatizing” the issue, highlighting that Singapore has made many positive steps towards being a multiracial society.
Not surprised
Shanmugam said that he isn’t surprised by the recent incidents of racism in Singapore, describing them as “predictable” for those who have been following “external developments” around the world, as well as “some things that have been happening within Singapore”.
He agreed that the public should always call out racism but emphasized the importance of doing so sensibly.
Shanmugam added:
“When it’s in the public square, I think you should call out, and you should frown against it, and you should take action where it breaches the law. Because it is cancerous, it is divisive, and it undermines the values of our society.”
Resorting to the law all the time isn’t the answer
He did however, say that Singaporeans cannot always look at the law as the solution in every situation, as harmony and racial tolerance cannot be brought about “just by having laws and enforcing them”.
There are many other factors at play, and while investigations have to be conducted in serious cases; resorting to the legal system all the time is not the answer.
He said:
“Sometimes people are charged [with breaking the law], but you have to be careful in the way you exercise that power.”
Don’t respond to racism with racism
Shanmugam also touched on the idea of fairness, bringin up past incidents where the public responded to racism by using racist remarks of their own; he said it was “somewhat hypocritical”.
“You don’t respond to what you say is racism by your own racist remarks, by being racist yourself.”
