A netizen recounted an incident that happened at 888 Plaza in Woodlands, where an uncle was trying to start a fight with a noodle stall hawker.
Here is the story:
“Hi, when my parents were buying food at the hawker stall earlier and they heard a commotion.
When they turned their head towards direction of the noise, they heard an old man shouting to the hawker and it got so bad to the extent that the customer threw the bell for ringing orders at the cook.
I don’t know why my Dad recorded this in time but he didn’t report it to the police.
I was at home so I didn’t witness this and my parents don’t know how the old commotion started.
This took place at 888 plaza in woodlands at 7.13pm. Before anyone ask why my father didn’t do anything to help the old man or others, the customer was so out of control so to not do anything but record evidence is the least one could do or call the police.
In the end my parents told me another passerby just told him to go away and no one is sure whether a police report was made.”
A netizen has shared on Facebook that he had wanted to download the recently popular Netflix series “Squid Game”, but ended up downloading something else instead.
A closer look at the poster of what the netizen claims that he downloaded wrongly showed the name of the show he downloaded to be “Squirt Game” instead.
The casts in the poster are also totally different from the original, with a few actresses replacing the original cast instead.
Squid game is a survival game where participants are picked from Korea, each with one common attribute. They all need money or they are in debt.
The series centres around a competition in which 456 players, all of whom are deeply in debt, risk their lives to play a series of lethal children’s games for the opportunity to win a 45.6 billion reward. The series’ title is based on a Korean children’s game of the same name.
Hwang came up with the notion after reflecting on his own early economic problems as well as South Korea’s class imbalance. Though he wrote it in 2009, he was unable to find a production firm to fund it until Netflix expressed interest in it around 2019 as part of their push to increase their foreign programming offerings.
In the first few episodes are meant to paint him in that light… then when we learn more about him, his job at the factory, his selfless nature etc. It’s meant to make us realise that some people are stuck in shit lives and act shitty because their lives are bad.
Spoiler
Even then, every time he won money the first thing he did was try and give a little bit of it to someone else.
He wasn’t a bad person because of who he was, he was a bad person because he was stuck in a bad situation.
It almost felt like they were two different people though. As we go on in the story he’s artificially turned into a saint by the show, his character does a complete 180 from how they introduced him. He let his mom work herself to death, stole money from her so he could drink & gamble all day, and was a horrible parent, but then, because he’s so desperate for money, he turns into the Pope and he suddenly has a good heart that everybody can see.
And I understand characters in a story learning from their experiences and changing for the better, having a character grow and change is fine, but the speed at which he’s sainted was a bit too quick (it’s 9 eps, so I guess they had to work fast).
I kind of wish they hadn’t spent so much time on him in the beginning, as it became fairly obvious he was wearing plot armor and wasn’t going anywhere. Had they spent time on some other characters that died early on, it would’ve felt a bit more unpredictable I think.

A netizen shared his horror story after he lost all his money after trusting an asset management company.
He did not mention the name of the company as the company is of such magnitude that he is scared of potential lawsuits. Mr Lee (not real name) said that he was curious about managing his assets and hope that he can get a positive return on his investment through an asset management company.
Mr Lee put in over $100,000 of his cash savings with the asset management company which promised him that it is a very safe fund that is able to beat inflation although it does not earn him much.
He was convinced by the words of the fund manager and decided to proceed with it. Little did he know in a short period of 8 months, his portfolio decreased a staggering 80%.
He called the fund manager and he told Mr Lee that due to the uncertainties of the market the analysis has not been accurate due to the situation happening worldwide. Mr Lee then questioned the fund manager on why this was not brought up to him during the consultation.
The fund manager “claimed” that he was only informed of the inaccuracies of the investments recently.
Mr Lee then said that a big company does not mean that it’s safe to put your money with them neither does it means that a small company cannot perform. He said that his only regret is going all out on 1 piece of the financial instrument rather than spreading his risk over several.
He said that it’s a lesson learned and hope others do not follow in his footsteps for investment.
A local airline stewardess recently shared that she has not been on talking terms with her parents ever since she completed her degree.
Here is her story
“Please keep this anonymous because I don’t want my parents, my company or my degree mates to find out.
I have always wanted to fly with an airline ever since my schooling days, but my parents always wanted me to get a proper job after completing my degree as they always felt that with a degree I should get a white collared job.
I decided to obey my parents first and walk the education path that they have set out for me, before “surprising” them with my choice of job once my studies are completed.
I did pretty well in my studies, completing my degree with a local university before heading to a prestigious overseas university to take my Master’s degree.
I came back and was head hunted by a few top companies because of my Master’s degree, but I decided to go for what I always wanted because I wanted to fly and see the world.
This disappointed my parents, who threatened to make me pay them back for all the money they spent on my degree.
They said nasty things to me like “why choose to be a high class waitress and waste your degree” and even things like “i did not pay for you to use your degree certificate to wipe the tray tables onboard.”
However, I still decided to go for what I wanted and have now been flying for almost 4 years plus minus including the pandemic times.
My relationship with my parents have still been sour till today, but I still choose to believe that they have no right to make choices for me.”
A man who recently went through a divorce felt that it is so easy for divorce lawyers to earn money as the process for his divorce was so fast and furious.
Here is the story:
I went online to seek divorce lawyers and I managed to pick a few and found the cheapest one. After arranging the appointment with the lawyer, I went down and the lawyer started to ask about my situation.
I told him that my wife who is a foreigner has gone missing and probably away from Singapore after failing to contact her. Even though she agreed with the divorce. she did not follow through it and went missing.
The lawyer told me not to worried and asked me for a few key details such as the identification number and detail of both myself and my wife, he then started to draft the letter to submit to a court.
He asked for my contact details and my wife contact details and type in the letter that she was uncontactable and missing despite trying. The lawyer told me to dial the phone a few times and take a screenshot to attach as evidence.
The whole process for the lawyer to type and submit the letter to the court took less than 30mins. After 30mins I was told to pay around $2,000.
That’s it, the lawyer tells me to wait 3-7 months and I will most probably get approval for the divorce.
30 mins get $2,000. Lawyers earn more than doctors.
A lady has shared her story with us on how she joked with her boyfriend that she rather be Covid positive than pregnancy test positive before she was tested positive for both a few days later.
Here is her story
“Hi, please keep me anonymous as I do not want my friends to find out.
I had been working from home with my boyfriend for the longest time ever and every time when we are bored, we will get kinky with each other.
There had been a few times where he unloaded without any protection but I thought it was fine because I had been on my birth control pills.
One day, my boyfriend joked with me after our usual kinky activities and asked me if I would rather be Covid positive or Pregnant.
Proudly, I told him that I rather be Covid positive because the down time to recovery will be shorter than if I would to get pregnant now.
The next day, we received the ART test kits in our letterboxes, and we decided to try it out for fun.
To my surprise, I saw two lines on my test kit.
When my boyfriend found out that I was tested positive, he still jokingly told me that “serves you right for cursing yourself, now you wished you were pregnant instead right?” to which I replied ya, and told him that I would get a pregnancy test kit to test myself also.
The following day, I tested myself for pregnancy while isolating in my room (I have kept a test kit in my room as standby since my ex-boyfriend), and I found out that there were also two lines on my pregnancy test kit.
Didn’t know that my mouth was so accurate when it comes to this kinda unlucky things but not as accurate whenever I say that I will tio 4d.”

In view of the ongoing transmission rates of the Covid-19 virus which has led to a rise in the number of seniors facing a higher risk of developing serious health complications if they contracted the Covid-19 virus, the National Environmental Agency (NEA) on Friday (Oct 1) has encouraged seniors to take away their food instead of eating in at hawker centers.
The Agency of Integrated Care (AIC), has also came out to encourage seniors and their household members to stay home for the next four weeks and also minimise mask off activities for the next four weeks until the Covid-19 situation stabilises.
They included that seniors should only go out for essential activities.
The NEA has also said that seniors can ask their family or household members to help them takeaway their food instead.
They also urged people who have to visit the markets and hawker centers to adhere to the Safe Management Measures (SMM) in place and to keep their masks on at all times except for when they are eating and to put it back once they are done.
NEA also said that enforcement actions have been stepped up and more than 300 fines has been issued though it is unspecified where these fines have been issued at.
They have also received feedback on certain hawker centers where people tend to flout the SMMs.
It added that even though 98 percent of hawker stallholders and assistants have already been vaccinated, the public should still remain vigilant.
It ended off by saying that it is working closely with hawkers’ associations and town councils to keep the premises safe by introducing regular deep cleaning and disinfection procedures.
