According to the media release, the police have received a tip-off yesterday (10 May 2020) about a man who allegedly hide drugs in his apartment at Blk 811 French Road. This had lead to the arrest of a man known by the nickname “Monk”.
According to some residents, an estimated of 20 armed police officers arrived on the scene when the incident happened.
When police officers arrived at the suspect’s unit, he is not willing to cooperate with the police and the man locks himself inside his apartment. After the situation becomes stagnant for several hours, the police engage the SCDF for help in order to arrest the suspect.
Together with the suspect, another woman was arrested on the scene as well.
Airline workers are starting to fear for the futures as the aviation industry comes to a halt worldwide amid the Covid-19 outbreak, with many countries closing their borders.
Many of such workers are finding new ways to supplement their earnings. Singapore Airlines have currently grounded almost all its aircraft earlier this week. One stewardess who declined to be name even said that she is considering helping her aunt who runs a food stall to wrap rice for S$10 per hour.
Another airline worker, who declined to be name as well, has started a part time job at a retail store, where he works three times a week. He started his part time job after noticing a 50 to 80 per cent loss from his usual monthly income of about S$3,500 a month. He added that in a normal month he would work an average of 16 days but worked only six so far in March.
On Monday (March 23), SIA announced that it would cut 96 per cent of its capacity and would ground 138 SIA and SilkAir planes out of its total fleet of 147.
The Animal Care Organization received a video stating that the man put four or five dogs into the big drain of gushing water during the day and hurriedly reported to the authorities. The authorities later discovered that the dog owner said he was letting the dogs have a swim and is currently investigating.
According to the “Chained Dog Awareness In Singapore” of the Dog Association, the incident occurred at about 11 am yesterday at a gutter near the upper part of the old Thomson Road.

“After our inspection, we found that the dogs in the video belongs to the men and they are currently in good condition. We thank the public for their attention to the safety of pet dogs.”
According to two voice records that are circulating in Whatsapp, two-man spoke and said that the two groups are Old Airport group and Teck Whye group also known as “chao” people.
“chao” people are often used to described gang members from the infamous “369”.

One of the men in the photos even had a Police tagging on his right shin.

Djamaludin Supadi, 53, was jailed for 6 months for four charges including public nuisance, cursing at and punching a police officer and possessing weapons.
After consuming pills he bought in Geylang, a man felt “extreme power” and stripped himself naked at a mosque several times despite attempts by others to get him to put on his clothes.
The man claimed that he saw an angel known as Jibrail and felt “extreme power” after consumption of the pills he purchased in Geylang.
When the police arrived, he proceeded to assault on of the offices. Upon being arrested, two knives were found on his body along with three penknife blade refill cases with five to seven blades in each case.
District Judge Marvin Bay told Djamaludin that his acts “amount to an aggravated and prolonged disturbance of a place of worship”. He said that the sentence “must be sufficient to deter acts of gross offences in sanctified places of worship such as mosques”.
According to witness reports, a jogger was stabbed at Punggol Field last night. The police have launched a murder investigation after a 38-year-old man who was found injured along Punggol Field died.
Gurkhas were activated in the investigation as well in accordance to witness accounts. The man was taken to Sengkang General Hospital where he died from his injuries.
One witness who claimed he was assisting with investigations described “blood everywhere” when he went to check on someone’s cry for help.
The rivalry between two neighbouring murtabak outlets in North Bridge Road took an unsavoury turn when a supervisor of Victory restaurant was slashed in the face in a 2015 attack.
After a trial, a former director of Singapore Zam Zam restaurant, Zackeer Abbass Khan, 49, and his friend Anwer Ambiya Kadir Maideen, 50, were found guilty of one count each of engaging in a conspiracy to cause grievous hurt to Mr Liakath Ali Mohamed Ibrahim, owner of Victory murtabak restaurant, with a weapon. The attack took place around 10pm on Aug 26, 2015.
Zackeer had instructed business associate and long-time friend Anwer Ambiya Kadir Maideen, 50, to hire a hitman to attack the victim. Anwer, the middleman in the scheme, was given five-and-a-half years’ jail for his part in the attack.
He had hired Joshua Navindran Surainthiran from the Sio Ang Koon gang to slash the victim on the face with a knife on Aug 26, 2015, for S$1,700.For slashing the victim on the face, Joshua was sentenced to six-and-a-half years’ jail and six strokes of the cane in 2016, after pleading guilty to several charges.
“The resulting consequences can be severe for both the victim and the perpetrators involved. Certainly there can be no place in our society for gratuitous violence arising out of mere business rivalry,” said the judge Joseph.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Claire Poh had asked for six years and six months’ jail and six strokes of the cane for Zackeer, whom she called the mastermind in the case. whilst asking for five years and seven months’ jail for Anwer, of which three months were in lieu of six strokes of the cane as he has turned 50.
Ikea announced today that the new Ikea store will open next year. The outlet would take up 6500sqm across there floors. They will be taking over the space which was vacated by Robinsons last week.
“This store will bring us closer to millions of customers,” said Jaap Doornbos, Ikea retail director for Singapore & Vietnam. “This will be the first time we are establishing a smaller Ikea store format as a tenant within a shopping centre in this region.”
This outlet will be Ikea’s third stall in Singapore. But there will not be an in-house playground nor a warehouse on its premises. But good news for Singaporeans, Ikea’s restaurant will still be offering its popular Swedish meatballs, fried chicken wings and seafood at their JEM outlet.
